Oh that was not expected I thought Rhythm Nation would've been a potential winner
Welp I guess my next highest bets hopefully win, though all the songs left are amazing and iconic af to where I'm fine with any of them winning

5. "All For You"from All For You (2001) "Got a nice package alright // guess I'm gonna have to ride it tonight."
The Velvet Rope album was dark and introspective, and after the era was over, Janet found herself going through a messy divorce. Single again, she also found herself struggling to meet guys, often due to their intimidation stopping them from approaching her. She ended up writing this song about her experiences. Also feeling freer than ever, the subsequent All For You album was much lighter and more fun, with the title track being the perfect example of this. To myself, bat1990 , and many others, the All For You era was our first time seeing Janet the superstar in full effect, and that song and album will always be special to me for that alone. But @antigonerising and Glove Slap can rest easy now that they know the song is finally eliminated. Average: 14.741 Standard Deviation: 11.561

So relieved to see this one go first out of those 5. My number 1 and number 2 are hanging in there, but I'm sure they're the next two to go.

4. "Miss You Much"from Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989) "Not to say that I'm in in love with you // but who's to say that I'm not?"
For the record, this song barely edged out "All For You". Comparatively, the gap between this one and #3 is pretty big. This is also the only song in the top 5 to not be ranked #1 by anyone. "Miss You Much" was the first single from Janet's fourth album Rhythm Nation 1814, and her second #1 on the Hot 100. It also was the biggest airplay hit of 1989, and is often remembered for the music video with the iconic chair dance routine. The dance routine inspired a dance break on Britney Spears' Crazy Y2K Tour, and similarly a chair routine in the video "Stronger". P!nk performed the song as part of Janet winning the MTV Icon award in 2001, also paying tribute to the iconic chair dance. Remix recommendation: Shep's House Mix. Shep gave the song an instrumental that sounds almost identical to the one he gave "Vogue" a year later. Average: 14.667 Standard Deviation: 11.052

Some comments: 13. Together Again: Surprised this didn't make top 10. It's a bop and a half. I do remember hearing it first in a more obscure version and not the poppy single version (which I thought it was a remix lol). It may have been the Deeper mix, but I thought it was more stompy than that one. In any case, I liked it since I first heard it, and has remained a favorite from Janet. 12. When I Think of You: Yes, poppy, but a JAM! This was her breakout song back home and has remained her most popular song there. It was her first #1 in my personal chart as well. Great childhood memories -and agree that the intro is A+ 11. What Have You Done...: great first single of her new persona. Solid. Happy to see it this high :) 10. I Get Lonely: FINALLY!!! My lowest ranked song remaining. I initially thought I was going to rank it higher, as I remembered it had a strong chorus... but then when I listened to it again for the RD, I realized that all it has is a strong chorus the verses are too underwhelming and half of the verse is the same melody of the chorus, plus her voice sounds too thin in many parts. So yeah, the only song in the top 10 that I'd rather not have seen so high. 9. Pleasure: I learned about this song just a few years ago. Didn't know that this was a single. I have been playing quite a good number of times since I first heard it. Really like it :)

8. Someone to Call My Lover: one of my favorite uses of a sample in the 2000s. It was a hit in my personal chart and has remained an overall favorite. 7. Escapade: YES! Her second top 10 back home was this one. Love the video, vibe, beat, etc. 6. Rhythm Nation: WHAT?! This should've been top 5! Quite strong song at multiple levels, including the iconic video. 5. All for you: :'( well, I do love this song. Her best performing single in my personal chart. The disco, funk vibe, the multiple hooks, the break with the Shannon-like bell sound, the overall bubbly feeling that just makes me smile and wanna dance. Not a bad thing about this song. Great to see it top 5 at least!!! 4. Miss you much: I do like this, but Rhythm Nation is a much stronger song.

3. "That's the Way Love Goes"from janet. (1993) "My love is blind // can't you see my desire?"
This song and the top 2 all kept alternating with each other as #1 throughout the voting process, but a few last minute low votes sealed this song's fate at #3. The lead single from 1993's janet., "That's the Way Love Goes" is one of Janet's best laid-back jams. The song was a true reinvention for Janet, as her '80s material was a mix of hard hitting uptempos and sweet, sensual ballads. The intense and often black-and-white imagery of past eras was behind her, and she reemerged with a video of her dressed much more casually, with her and her dancers relaxing in a hotel lobby (one being Jennifer Lopez). The song was Janet's sixth #1 on the Hot 100 and stayed there for eight weeks in the summer of 1993. According to Billboard, it was Janet's biggest hit in the United States, the fourth biggest hit of 1993, and the seventeenth biggest hit of the '90s. Remix recommendation: CJ FXTC Club Mix + CJ 12" R&B MixAverage: 11.815 Standard Deviation: 12.8

One of the smoothest R&B songs during that era . Nothing comes close to this and "If". I lost my MINDZZZ during that time. I kept going back and forth between this, If and PP for number one.

I hope it's LWND, although I had if In the top 5 as well, and it's my first memory of her too. Another time, I might have had it at the top.
