How is LYL her #2 hit? It must have dropped off the chart quickly and debuted very high based on its comparison to the songs it's allegedly a bigger hit than.
Subjectively, it certainly doesn't feel like even in her top 10 hits to me.

Subjectively, it certainly doesn't feel like even in her top 10 hits to me. LYL debuted at #80 and jumped to #1 in week two (very briefly holding the record for biggest Hot 100 move to #1 before Britney broke it the next week with Womanizer). It spent half its time (14 weeks) in the top 3 - I assume that top-heavy run is what boosts it. |

Hits tweeted and deleted that. I didn't see it on their website but I assume it was the same situation - they posted it, then took it down. This is one reason I don't really like using them as a source (even for stuff they don't delete right away, they remove most of the articles after a week or two so you're just left with a link to the home page). IDK what 'source' they think they have on R9 but they continually let themselves get gassed up only for nothing to happen so I wish they'd just stop. Rihanna will come for us when she feels like it.

I feel like there's no real excuse for why she hasn't dropped a single at least tbh. We don't need you to promote it, we turned LOTB into a top 5 hit without a video sis, just throw a bone at us.

Yes in retrospect I really doubt we'll ever see something like what LOTB did ever again
It was the 4th real single from the album (I know she had like 7 #1s on Dance lol) and smashed one year after the album's release without any promo, video or remix
Nowadays most post-album singles don't perform well at all especially this late in the album cycle and that low promoted
She's a queen and I'm patient for whatever she'll release but at this point I think the GP is expecting something really really amazing and huge but anyways the Navy will eat it up and so will the GP even if it's just initially
Honestly, I see her return taking her to her 15th #1 hit immediately

I expect a few bops like "Work" to have reggae elements, but I hope she doesn't completely ditch the more R&B direction of "Love on the Brain" and "Kiss it Better".
