YDO is one of my favorite RiRi songs, ever. Truth be told, if it wasn't for that dubstep breakdown it would've dated even better, but I love it still. A BOP.

TTT underperforming was so weird. The track was great (I don't have much use for it these days though) and she was at the top of the pop ladder... but WFL swallowed everything on it's path. "You da One" is one that I really wanted to love but it was so lazy, especially the video. WHYB was always the "Dark Horse" obvious smash that they resisted. JAY z refused to flim a video and it had zero promotion

Happy to see some YDO love! One of my favorites off that album as well and I've always preferred it to WFL.

I like "You Da One" a lot, too. Why was it released when "WFL" was still rising? The same reason “We Found Love” was released when “Cheers (Drink To That)” was still rising etc. 😂 Rihanna was simply releasing whatever song she felt like, at any time, and at the expense of her other hits.

“Talk That Talk” is a Great album, musically speaking, and given it was recorded in such a short space of time (while Rihanna was on tour) and was released merely a year after “LOUD”, it’s become extremely influential as well as highly referential in Rihanna’s career.
Also, what’s ironic is that it wasn’t even meant to be a full-length studio album but a re-release to “LOUD”. However, she realised that she had enough material to have it be an album, changed her mind at the very last minute and released it anyway.
Ariana Grande is a colossal fan of that album. She speaks about it on Twitter and posts random lyrics from various songs on the album every other week, and you can see it’s influence on “TU,N” especially. Several other Pop stars have highlighted it as being a favourite also; Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish etc.
Her image/fashion during that era was/is also very influential.
Rihanna is just an ICONIC Woman. It’s that simple, and this is why I’ll forever be a fan.

• The 21st Century’s BIGGEST & GRANDEST hitmaker.
• The only Female artist, other than Madonna, to have 100+ number one singles worldwide.
• The 10th Biggest Hot 100 Artist of All Time.
...And she’s only 31.
No one else could ever!

TTT has some great album tracks. I love the trio of Watch N Learn, Roc Me Out, and Farewell. I never really got into You Da One. That was always the one single from the era that I never really cared for. A lot of people usually say Loud or Anti are their favorite Rihanna album, but Talk That Talk has been my favorite for awhile now. Yes omg literally this

Officially two years since we have got any sort of new music from Rihanna. I know she confirmed a 2019 release but it just seems more and more unlikely.

I am hoping we get a surprise like around new year's eve, kick into 2020 with Riri asserting her dominance on the charts Then again wasn't Work like released out of the blue or am I just wrong completely?
Anyways, am I the only one who felt the urge to listen to Disturbia through all of December, idk I always put it into my October playlists Shit I feel like listening to it right now as well, welp I'm gonna go do just that lol

Rihanna's music is truly timeless In all these years I've always occasionally felt the need to listen to her discography and noticed how perfect some of her songs are (example: the drums on Umbrella make it completely unique and wonderful) Recently it's been increasing in anticipation uuh let me listen to Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary and Desperado NOW!! Release!!!!!

I wonder how this long break in between eras will affect her chart positions. Rihanna turns 32 next year and we’re coming up on 4 years since ANTI was released.
I can see this going one of two ways: A long break between eras creates huge anticipation and will give her great chart power going into her next era or a long break between eras will cause people to move on from her and will reflect that with lower than normal charting.
I’m hoping for the former, I’d love to see Rihanna get #1’s across 3 decades.

Unpopular opinion, but Rated R is her best album for me. I even love Rockstar 101.

Releasing a coffee table book before the album... she really hates her fans (I would buy it but the book starts at 140 Euros so will need to think) I think I need this. I love a good coffee table book.

Unpopular opinion, but Rated R is her best album for me. I even love Rockstar 101. I disliked it at first but it got better with time. I do think it eventually got outshined by flashier commercial efforts (LOUD) or just more creative ones (ANTI). Photograph and Fire Bomb are really good. Wait Your Turn was a great opener. The first three singles all had their charms. Even R101 eventually grew on me. Never got the hype for Te Amo tho.

I’m hoping for the former, I’d love to see Rihanna get #1’s across 3 decades. I was just thinking about this. I thought she was successfully building an insane amount of hype that would translate to an instant #1 when she released it, but I'm starting to think she waited too long (though it's surprising to learn it's "only" been two years). I do think she will fare better against agism/sexism in radio because she is perennially cool, but she seems to have anticipated radio's (and audience's) steady disinterest and has already moved on to conquering other industries, so that when/if she does release new music, its performance will be almost irrelevant, not unlike (but for different reasons) Beyonce. I think she'll be able to pull off that thin line of being "above" chart positions in a way that isn't deflecting from poor commercial performance, but even that will need to be handled with care.

Uhm Rated R was cute but hardly her best. The best songs ion there was “Hard”, “Rude Boy”, “Fire Bomb”.
Clearly her best album is between “Loud” and TTT.

My favorite album by her is definitely Loud. To this day, Complicated is a favorite.
While I enjoyed Talk That Talk, it felt generic to me.
