MY STORY.
I’ve been a fan of Rihanna since she released “Pon De Replay” in May 2005.
Rihanna’s career is one of which I followed from the very beginning and haven’t looked back once.
I remember when I first purchased “Pon De Replay” via. Digital download. I remember when it peaked at #2 behind “We Belong Together” on the Hot 100 in July and being so annoyed that it didn’t hit the summit. “PDR” only needed to have sold 20-25K units more than it did (52K) to overtake Carey despite her huge airplay lead.
I also remember several users dragging her here on Pulse and other forums calling her a “one hit wonder” and that she was nothing more than “2005’s Nina Sky, Lumidee and Kevin Lyttle.
I remember when “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want” underperformed and that almost proved everybody right.
Then the Spring/Summer of 2006 came and she completely dominated with “SOS” and “Unfaithful” and even scored a random top ten hit with “Break It Off” later that year despite no promotion which showed her developing commercial power.
I remember at the beginning of 2007 when she and her label first announced that she’d be releasing another single in Q2 of that and how, once again, most people were demeaning her because 1) she was releasing singles too quickly and 2) it wouldn’t be a success as she’d be overshadowed by Beyoncé/Fergie/Gwen Stefani/Nelly Furtado etc.
Then “Umbrella” was finally released, and...
Pop music and her career was never the same!
The “GGGB” era was a complete behemoth.
A Global superstar was truly born!

The documentary is going to be very interesting, seeing how private she has become over recent years, it will be a good insight into her life.

The documentary will definitely give an insight into both her personal and professional life, going as far back as 2012 as that’s when she first approached Peter Berg about the documentary (Official production didn’t begin on it until 2015 however, during the “ANTI sessions”).
Nonetheless, I cannot wait.
P.S Navy... A Q3 musical release, is definitely plausible so that could be anytime between July-September.
We’ll be blessed in 2020. You’ll see. 😎

Anti ties Adele's 19 to become the 10th longest running female album ever on the Billboard 200 this week (218 weeks). It should pass Gaga's The Fame in a few weeks (223). From 460 to that. She truly had the last laugh.

Also, she was plastered in the studio between December/January to March which is why we barely saw her/got any candids of her during those months. We are going to EAT once it’s released! 🤓 |

Please allow a non-frequenter of this thread to drop in and just express my similar desire/endless dread & despair for this damn album. But, I've come to respect the hell out of her for the empire she's built. She's quite easily defined as an entrepreneur and businesswoman, just as much as she is an artist. There are few artists who've done what she has, and her wallet proves it.

Please allow a non-frequenter of this thread to drop in and just express my similar desire/endless dread & despair for this damn album. But, I've come to respect the hell out of her for the empire she's built. She's quite easily defined as an entrepreneur and businesswoman, just as much as she is an artist. There are few artists who've done what she has, and her wallet proves it. Absolutely. She is a cross-generational cultural icon whose success spans music, fashion and business and she DOMINATES all three equally. 🙌🏿 Who else but... Rihanna? I never thought the “Pon De Replay” Girl would evolve into what she currently is. The thing is her brand is what is going to keep her going in the future. I can see why she would put her time and energy there versus creating music. There is no money in music anymore aside from touring, and she never struck me as someone interested in touring as frequently as some other artists that make bank on touring.
