UGH her version is SO good, far superior to Selena’s. I can understand why she let it go tho. It’s a bit repetitive and kinda lacks that Rih Rih bite lyrically. This makes me miss her so much!!

She absolutely BODIED it! 😭 It makes me miss her even more, I agree. 😓 I can see why, in the end, she rejected it from “ANTI”. Sonically, it doesn’t suit the album but it would’ve been a massive hit if it were out on there anyhow and then released, similar to “Love On The Brain”. That said, “ANTI” in 2014 was a completely different album to the “ANTI” we eventually got in 2016 so... who knows.

Aaaaw she sounds so good I love her voice so much, it's so versatile This could have been on Loud but has way too little substance for ANTI
Hype train restarts again

omgggg her version is incredible and takes me back to the GGGB days. It's basically the big sister of the title track of that album. It sounds nothing like what she would release post-2012 though so I'm surprised she even recorded it.

I for one am glad she passed on it. For one, imagine that on Anti, lol. For two, as good as she sounds here, Selena's overproduced whisper tone just... it fits the song splendidly. Rihanna is teetering on shouty in her demo, and it reminds me too much of how Charlie XCX would sing it had she decided to keep it and fully record it herself rather than just mixing her vocals in with Selena's. Mainly it's the verses that just don't sit right with me.

I can still remember the first time I saw the video on TRL. New artists in her time had came and went, while she still had that staying power. She has an amazing team behind her!

I might've listened to her version of SOL 20+ times today... Uuh I miss her so much I hope her new album has a great concept, maybe she could tell the story of her part years And I hope her lead is a smash that references her fame and long break from music

^^^Remember we all thought Tierra Marri would be the one to stick around? YES! I will stand by the fact that Tierra Mari’s debut album was SOLID, even more so than Rihanna’s. She just didn’t have that “it” factor that Rih has.

Teairra’s album shat on Music of the Sun! Period! If only she hadn’t let her mouth ruin her career. 😩 Could I have a short history lesson? Usually I know about one hit wonders and such but truly have never heard of this girl Teairra and Rihanna were both signed around the same time and, funny enough, both got signed on the spot after auditioning for L.A. Reid; Jay-Z agreed to house Teairra under Roc-A-Fella while Rihanna stayed on Def Jam and they both unofficially ended up being pitted against each other. Teairra’s single dropped April 2005; Rihanna’s dropped in May. Their albums dropped less than a month apart and both debuted top-10. Teairra’s album got better reviews but she was firmly in the R&B lane so she went top-10 on that format but struggled on Pop (and then they chose the WRONG second single). Meanwhile Pon de Replay had the crossover appeal so Rihanna was able to move units on top of generating a Pop radio hit. That caused Def Jam to invest quickly in her sophomore album and keep the promo rolling. Teairra only had the one hit and got dropped before the second album was finished; she signed a new deal after that with Warner Bros. but that album was shelved and she only released a few mixtapes after that; still no second album.

Good God! Teairra's debut album was LIIIIIIT! So many good bops, No Daddy included, although I do agree that it should've an album track only or maybe 5th single. Confidential, New Shit, Stay In Ya Lane, Phone Booth, MVP... All certified bops. She also released other good bops afterwards that didn't make any album.. No No, Cause a Scene, Sponsor, Automatic, Hunt 4U, Body... Such a shame no one wanted to invest on her after No Daddy, so much wasted potential.

I just heard the Rihanna demo of Same Old Love and it really makes me miss her. I want a new album from her that is equal parts pop and urban.
Also, it’s crazy how many hit songs Rihanna has passed up over the years.

I also missed Rihanna big time. I might be in the minority here but i hope there will be one or two dance bangers on upcoming album.

I'm sure her lead will be a bop. As much as "Needed Me" and "Love on the Brain" smashed, a bop like "Work" really was a great choice to lead the last time.

Was "Sex With Me" officially sent to urban radio or did they just pick it up on their own? If not that song was a missed opportunity. I know on went on be certified either Platinum or Gold, but think of the potential it had if it was given an aggressive push as a single.

I saw Rihanna trending on twitter and almost had a heart attacking thinking we’re about to get new music but it’s just people talking about Rihanna trending...
