Helloooooooo and welcome everybody to my first rankdown! Before I started up Summertime Madness next month, I wanted to get myself into the rankdown business! For my first rankdown, I decided to totally rob Au$tin 's idea do a shuffle rankdown! Basically, I put my music app into shuffle mode and plucked the first 30 songs that came up, and well-ah, we have our list! This rankdown should be a fairly diverse rankdown. We got genres ranging from rock to pop to country and then some. There are some of Pulse's faves on here, and some of Pulse's hated on here. I will say that this rankdown might have a lot of first listens for a solid chunk of you. There are a decent amount of singles and hits littered throughout the 30, but there are a decent amount of album cuts as well. Nearly every artist should at least look familiar, but there are two that might not be known to anyone. With this said, the deadline will be August 5th at 11:59 PM CST. I prefer not to go over this deadline because I want to be completely done with the revealing and whatnot before I start Summertime Madness, which will start shortly after this concludes. Now up, the list...but first I gotta put hints up and y'all guess it! I'll be doing a full reveal (hopefully full reveal lol) tomorrow that will be revealed throughout the day (some might bleed into Tuesday). Then after that, you are free to submit!

1. Incubus - "Drive"
We have the only song from the 90s on the rankdown and it appears right away. "Drive" is the biggest hit from Incubus, peaking at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100; their only song to even grace the Top 50. This is a fairly recent addition to my iPod, as I actually had no clue this song was by Incubus. I've always really liked the song when I would hear it as a recurrent on my local rock stations, but I never connected the dots that it was Incubus. Ryan Gosling stars in a movie called Drive, so that should have been a fairly easy hint. Green Baron was correct!

2. "Life of Sin" by: Sturgill Simpson "Life of Sin" appears on Sturgill Simpson's second album Metamodern Sounds In Country Music. This was Sturgill's first album to get acclaim from critics, and "Life of Sin" is one of the more popular songs on the album. This is one that I actually didn't know much about it when it came up. I had downloaded the album once I heard A Sailor's Guide to Earth and listened to it once before, so probably like most of you, I'll have to get acquainted with this one! Last year, Sturgill's album A Sailor's Guide to Earth was nominated at the Grammys for the Album of the Year. It lost out to Adele's 25, which was expected, but I did think Sturgill had the best quality album of the ones nominated. This should have given you the artist, and the word 'sin' was a minor hint towards the song title. born was incorrect in his guess towards Lady Antebellum. 3. "Kings & Queens" by: 30 Seconds to Mars "Kings & Queens" is the lead single to 30 Seconds to Mars' third studio album This is War. This was a pretty big hit over on the Alternative charts, where it hit #1, and it did appear on the Hot 100 at #82 back in 2009. This has the longest runtime of the songs included on this rankdown at 5:48, where the next longest clocks in at 5:10. This song was actually my introduction to 30 Seconds to Mars, where most people were introduced from "The Kill". I still have yet to listen to the album (I probably should actually), but the four singles from This is War rank as my four highest 30 Seconds to Mars songs. I guess this is kind of the opposite of Kings and Queens? A jack is the other face card in a deck of cards, while the joker was just more there because it helped the hint a bit, haha. Green Baron got it correct! Tags - if you would like to be tagged for the song reveals, let me know! lyhom YotamTS willapted33

4. "Gone, Gone, Gone" by: Phillip Phillips "Gone, Gone, Gone" is the second single from former American Idol winner Phillip Phillips from his debut album The World from the Side of the Moon. "Gone, Gone, Gone" followed up his breakthrough debut single "Home" nicely, as it hit #24 on the Hot 100, #18 on CHR, and #3 on Hot AC. I always thought this one was superior to "Home", but some people would disagree with me. I think this one actually holds up as my favorite song from him in general. This is the first of three songs to come from an award show winner (hint hint hint). The hint showed people that have similar first and last names as Phillip does, and the listing of three names was to allude to the title of "Gone, Gone, Gone". Beno correctly guessed the artist, but didn't know the title. Tags - if you would like to be tagged for the song reveal, let me know! lyhom YotamTS willapted33

5. "Colliding by Design" by: Acceptance "Colliding by Design" is the title track to Acceptance's comeback album that was released earlier this year. There's not much to show for with merits for the song, as it wasn't a single (they, for whatever reason, have yet to send a single to radio), so this one should be a first listen for most. If anyone has paid attention to my chart (or my submissions in tournaments), Acceptance should be a pretty familiar name because Colliding by Design has been my favorite album of the year so far, and by a large amount. This is the only song on the rankdown to be released in 2017, and it is also one of two songs to feature on my chart currently. I was actually a bit upset this came up because I was planning on using this in Summertime Madness, so I might need to look elsewhere depending on who participates in this. This one is self-explanatory. If people thought of my stanning for them this year, they could have gotten the answer for the band, but I'm not surprised no one got it. 6. "One Shot" by: Robin Thicke (feat. Juicy J) "One Shot" is the fourth single that Robin attempted to launch his new album, and like the previous four, it flopped. It only charted at #62 on the Dutch charts, but that's it. I liked this song when I first heard, but by third or fourth listen, it already burned. Yeah, this was just a shitty hint. #next Tags - if you would like to be tagged for the song reveals, let me know! lyhom YotamTS willapted33

7. "Circles" by: EDEN "Circles" is a track that comes from EDEN's EP i think you think too much of me. EDEN is pretty popular among the underground indie circuit, but he hasn't received much mainstream attention. You may know him from his former artist name The Eden Project, but probably not. The hint was fine, but I knew no one would get it due to the low familiarity of EDEN. Circles referred to the song title, while the garden part alludes to the Garden of Eden. I'm pretty sure the only person on this site that's familiar with EDEN is Lordef†ones as he used him in a tournament on the rock board. Green Baron was pretty far off with his guess, as I have no clue what "In Circles" by: Sunny Day Real Estate is lmao. 8. "Mardi Gras" by: Dierks Bentley (feat. Trombone Shorty) "Mardi Gras" is an album track that comes from Dierks Bentley's latest album Black that features horns from Trombone Shorty. This one is not a single, and won't be, but overall this is a pretty fun track that I think even non-country fans would enjoy. I now realize that the album tracks are going to have very short write-ups lmao. I wasn't expecting people to get this anyways. Louisiana alludes to Mardi Gras, while the 'jazzy flare' alludes to Trombone Shorty's contribution. Tags - if you would like to be tagged for the song reveals, let me know! lyhom YotamTS willapted33

9. "Thunderhearts" by: Cold War Kids "Thunderhearts" comes from Cold War Kids' Record Store Day exclusive vinyl EP Five Quick Cuts (well, not exclusive anymore: it's been released everywhere since). Lyrically, this one has a pretty cool backstory. The inspiration comes from a story that was featured on LA Times about a guy who cut off a piece from the Lotus Bed at Echo Park Lake. A lot of the lyrics are borrowed from the article, which was interesting when I read it. This was easily my favorite from the EP, and is up there in my favorite Cold War Kids songs of all-time. I thought the hint was pretty easy for the band. The Cold War ran from 1947 - 1953. I gave no favors towards the song title though haha. Like " sex" is pretty Alternative, and "Circles" is more Alternative until around halfway through where more electronics come in.

10. "Glacier" by: Youngblood Hawke "Glacier" comes from Youngblood Hawke's debut, and so far only, album Wake Up. The album was highlighted nicely by their Alternative hit "We Come Running", but they remain largely one hit wonders on the format (I don't think anything else from them hit Top 50?). I thought their album was pretty lackluster, but "Glacier" was one of the songs I did like. 'They came running' alluded to their song "We Come Running", while Antarctica had to do with glaciers (first thing that came to mind haha). Green Baron was right on the artist, and I understand why he put "We Come Running" as his song, but I wasn't going to make it that easy! 11. "As Long As We Got Love" by: Javier Colon (feat. Natasha Bedingfield) Next up we got "As Long As We Got Love" by: Javier Colon and Natasha Bedingfield! For people that aren't familiar with Javier Colon, he was the first winner for the US edition of The Voice and pretty much flopped right out of the gate. It didn't chart anywhere, and his debut album debuted and peaked at #134 on the Billboard 200. He was dropped from his label shortly after. Nowadays, there's not much going on with him. He released an album last year called Gravity which went under the radar. For this song, I enjoyed it when it came out. It's a nice little tune. This is the second of three talent show winners! Who's the third!? There have been 12 seasons of The Voice in the US, and arguably none of the winners have really been successful...
