I love Faith Hill and her take on "Why" is perfectly fine, but I have to say that I think Rascal Flatts delivered it much better. Part of it may be bias because I fell in love with theirs as a single long before her version ever saw the light of day, but I really do think their rendition feels much more dramatic and hits a lot harder imo listening to them side by side. The build is much stronger and climactic for me in the RF version, and I think it's one of their best vocal performances on record, and I much prefer the production on theirs as well. Sorry Faith, but I'm glad you passed on this one.

This song is great, but tbh I would have rather seen it swap places with "The Wild One". This exactly. I also love how my top 10 is cleanly annihilated except for my top 3 lol

Pleasantly surprised the title track to her debut beat both of the big singles from the era, but I'm certainly not complaining because this one is the best imo. I wish I could swap out some of the recurrent (over)play of "Wild One" for some "Take Me as I Am" on my radio. ;)

Ok, so much information! LOL Well, first things first! I'm surprised but happy to see "I Ain't Gonna Take It Anymore" so high in the album tracks rankdown! I almost didn't put it in my Top10 cause there are so many I love, but I wanted to add something from Fireflies and that's my favorite from the non-single tracks. I'm very happy "Take me As I Am" prevailed over the other singles from this album. I love this song and is my favorite from her debut! It's nice to see these Album Spotlights, great job bboat11 :)

I like her first two albums the most. They sound more country and less pop than the rest of her catalog and I like that very much.

Up next, we have the song that was actually trending as our #1 for the first half of the submission process before the real #1 started absolutely massacring the competition!

I very much approve of this top 5, hoping my number 1 or 2 can take the top spot. I will be a little shocked if they do though.

Damn... I missed my Top3 in row! :(
... but, I'm actually VERY happy all of them got to the Top10! I wasn't confident any of them would win, but I stand by all of them as my Top 3 tracks!
I LOVE EVERYTHING about "When The Lights Go Down" ... the lyrics, melody, production and of course, Faith's AMAZING interpretation! This is probably my favorite vocal performance from her as well... it's so full of emotion and yet not overdramatic! Same goes for the production... it's so elegant and the guitar solo contrast with the orquestra is such a nice touch and powerful! Every single time I hear her sing "And I wonder if all my life's about / the sum Of all my fears and all my doubts / When the lights go dooooown...", it gets so much to me... it's my favorite part! Urgh! Can't say enough good things about it!
"Let Me Let Go" has one of my favorite intros of any country song! It's another song and performance from Faith that can only be defined by the word "class". Vince's backing vocals are the cherry on top of this beautiful and delicious cake.
"If My Heart Had Wings" is my favorite Faith uptempo track! It's such an explosion of joy! Her vocals are amazing and the production complement the song perfectly! A fun trivia about my relationship with this song is that it was also the VERY FIRST SONG song I heard in Nashville when I visited for the first time a couple of years ago. It was so FULL CIRCLE that it was almost bizarre! Faith was (along with the Dixie Chicks) the act that made me like Country Music as little boy, and I've always dreamed about going to Nashville. Flash forward to 15 years later and the very first song I hear on the radio at the taxi going to the hotel in Nashville is: If My Heart Had Wings! How crazy is that??? It was a great moment!

Got my #05 right at least! LOL
"The Secret of Life" is such a great song! I'm glad it found its way to the Top5! "The Way You Love Me" has some pretty silly lyrics but it's SO CATCHY! It always puts me in a great mood and it's a song that always takes me back to my childhood, when I was first starting to like country lol
The TOP4 is very predictable (like most of the times in rankdowns), but as a fan, I can't complain cause they are all amazing songs!

Is it predictable? "Breathe" and "This Kiss" were definitely predictable, but I feel like nobody really expected "Cry" or especially "It Matters To Me" to last this long!

Did not expect "The Way You Love Me" to miss the Top 5 so color me surprised! I'm not upset about it though. I've always liked it, but felt like it was one of her most overrated hits. Much like "Wild One" (which I have similar thoughts about), the chorus is a total earworm of catchiness, but the verses are just kinda there for me and there's better songs I'd rather hear on the radio from her. Still so overjoyed that "When the Lights Go Down" made Top 10! What a musical masterpiece of a song! Like The Brazilian Guy π§π·, I think it is easily one of her best vocals on record ever. It's so anthemic and I looooove the low richness of her voice during those verses. It's so elegant. Also surprised at just how well "The Secret of Life" did in this! It's such a creative song lyrically, and I've always loved near the end when the bartender is like "The secret of life is there ain't no secret, and you don't get your money back." One of my favorite lines from any of her songs. <3
