There were some good songs on this record, but "A Little Bit Stronger" is the best thing she's ever done and one of the greatest country records of my lifetime, imo. Even the acoustic version of this is miles better than my #2 (which still shouldn't be out though - shame on y'all).

Our final elimination in the bottom half of this rankdown is the title track, which only beat "Diving in Deep" by a mere 2 points and only 5 over the acoustic version of "A Little Bit Stronger," as well. I've personally been waiting for this moment for awhile as it clears out my #14 (as well as two other poster's as well), though it also sees our third #1 elimination of the game as dub loses his top rank just below the midway point. This one had several high and low peaks, but generally it seemed to fall somewhere in the middle of most of the lists, so naturally it seems logical that it shows up here right in the middle of the rankdown! "Words" is a very Hot AC-lite sounding song to me and makes me think of something that an artist like Jason Mraz might record musically, which doesn't surprise me given that this is the kind of music Sara Evans gravitates most towards outside of the country realm. I honestly don't like the musical direction of this song and feel like it is just incredibly boring and that there's something almostly slightly nauseating about the melodic nature/structure of the song, and I can't even say that her vocal performance on this one elevates it much because I think some of the inflections she does on this are a bit grating. It's probably my least favorite Sara Evans song in over a decade, honestly, lol. "Like bitter poison drippin' off your tongue Pull the thread and watch the story come undone"

Welp, I'm just nailing the predictions lately! This song is pretty good to me, but I also echo the "kinda boring" sentiments. I wouldn't have wanted it out in the bottom 3, but it definitely should have gone before "I Want You" and "Make Room at the Bottom"........ Right now feels like a great time for it to go though, as pretty much everything else that is left is amazing to perfect! (Minus my #14, but we're not going to talk about that...)

I agree with bboat11 on this. After a rocky beginning to this rankdown, everything is now falling into place! However, I have this gut feeling my #1 will be gone very soon.

I predict that "Rain and Fire" will be next! Although seriously, at this point I have absolutely no idea, and I am just pulling guesses out of something that thinly resembles logic... I just think that that one will be the most polarizing, so it's probably close to time for it to go.

I also agree about the "kind of boring" assessment. It's not exactly flat out boring, but Sara just simply has better and more interesting songs on this record...

I like Words for its length. It makes the latter half of the album more bearable and relaxed.

RIP "Words." I love the lyrics and the Sara-in-repose Hot AC liteness of it all.

My predictions! 7. Rain and Fire 6. All the Love You Left Me 5. Marquee Sign 4. Like the Way You Love Me 3. I Don't Trust Myself 2. I Need a River 1. Long Way Down This is incredibly difficult though... Pretty much all of these are amazing songs. Once I see the top 5 I will have a better idea of how things will play out, but until I know which 2 songs aren't going to make it, I am not confident in anything! Still pretty confident that "Long Way Down" will be #1, and that "Rain and Fire" will not make the top 5, but other than that it's all speculative based on comments I have seen made about the album. I am pretty confident my #1 will be out before my #14 though, which is pretty suckish...

Not necessarily the order I would like to see it, but close enough!
I'm really hoping my #1 can make top 5! Not holding my breath though as I know there are some haters. haha

We kick off the top half of the Words RD with our fourth #1 loss of the game as d3vin44 correctly anticipated that his top track would be the next to go. It's not just him that loses his #1 though as Leo ✔ and vann also take the highest blow as well. austin finally says goodbye to his #14, however! "All the Love You Left Me" is a grieving ballad that highlights and personifies the 'love' left behind when someone departs a relationship, which Sara Evans interprets to be about a widow whose husband has passed on (though the song is written ambiguously so that it doesn't directly reference death). This one proved to be pretty polarizing as many loved it greatly, while more than a few were not so taken with it. "It can't hold me, it don't kiss me But in these sheets, it lays down with me"

I'm not really surprised to see this go, as I knew it was polarizing. I love it though! The way her voice is produced is SO cool And her head voice on "sheets" is goosebump-inducing!

so I love this song a lot more now than I did when I did the ranking. This would easily be Top 3 for me if I was to rank this album now. This is a great song and would love to see her release it as a single even if in a limited capacity (kinda like it seems "Marquee Sign" is.)

This is our last song to come up shy of the Top 5, and it missed by just 2 points over the next highest song. Another pair of #1s go up in flames here as Kanenrá:ke and austin just miss out on a Top 5 finish for their faves. Two more #14 ranks fall, one of which is courtesy of Leo ✔ who just lost his #1, and in a bit of irony, he and austin had the opposite songs on either end of their lists... so I guess you could say that Leo ✔ got his revenge. "Rain and Fire" is only the second non-ballad to leave the rankdown -- perhaps not saying much since the bulk of the album isn't very uptempo -- but it did pretty well here, despite a little bit of polarizing nature to it. This melodic and breezy song is an enjoyable listen, but it hovers near the bottom of the record for me. It just doesn't stand out a whole lot to me personally, but I do think there's some nice lyrical moments on the song, it does have a nice groove, and Sara certainly sings the fire out of it. "It's amazing how I can look in your eyes And tell that you haven't been satisfied For a long time"
