^Lol I love that Paul Brandt song! He's a vastly underrated artist, really wish he had stuck around in the U.S. longer. But we still get new stuff from him here in Canada.

I saw him back in my hometown in Nebraska at the local county fair when his song “My Heart Has A History” was a big hit. I agree he’s underrated...he’s also just an all around great person.

Ok, no top 10 losses besides Kacey! My lowest remaining song is #24 I believe!

"I May Hate Myself in the Morning" is such an incredible song. Pleasantly surprised it came this far after the unjust treatment it got in the YE rankdown.

We better be crowning Deana Carter as Rankdown champ because the hot July moon sees everything and you tankers will be damned forever.
I am stunned "I Hope You Dance" is still in this.

My Church - The best Maren Morris song to date and the only one I really like.
Merry Go Round - This one is really good. It's great how lyrics describe the other aspect of living in a small town.
The House That Built Me - not my favourite by Miranda but still a great song.
I May Hate Myself In The Morning - I was hoping this one would end up higher than IHYD but #6 is still a great place for a song that's not really that well known. Anyway, I simply love this song - it's LAW at her finest.

#5 is the first song we've had that didn't dip out of the top 10 throughout the submission process. It also one of 3 songs to be at #1 during the submissions!

Strawberry Wine is what I think of when I think of classic country songs. How this didn’t win I will never know.

"Strawberry Wine" had no business being anywhere lower than the Top 50 on anyone's list... let alone bottom 10, lol. At least tim and austin know what's up!

Best part of the song hands down is "A few cards and letters and one long distance call". The way that is sung is just fantastic. Also the music video is so simple yet visually great.
Very happy this got Top 5.
So we have Sara Evans vs Martina McBride vs Brad Paisley/Alison Krauss vs Lee Ann Womack.
I am convinced Lee Ann Womack is #4, Sara Evans #3, now for the F2 I don't know. I am leaning towards Martina McBride but I can't get over how much "Whiskey Lullaby" obliterated the 2004 country rankdown.

WHAT??!?!?! Lol I thought that Deana was at LEAST a lock for the top 2 based on what was left in the top 5! bboat11 Martina McBride has this in the bag now right? I would sure like to think so, but with the way this rankdown is going I definitely don't want to get my hopes up... I still think she might get randomly tanked due to some kind of "overrated" sentiment, like Sara Evans is probably about to be as well!

If by some miracle Lee Ann Womack wins. It'd be the greatest shock for a rankdown for me, since "Burning House" won 2016 country rankdown.

Of course, in Martina's own RD, "Independence Day" obliterated the competition worse than any country song has ever obliterated the competition in a RD! Out of 70 songs, everybody put it in the top 13 (and I believe only like 3 of those were outside of the top 10). But of course that was in a RD mostly composed of her fans...

I am REALLY hoping "Born To Fly" can pull off a win but it will probably be one of the other two

I was afraid this was gonna win; I tanked it on purpose due to the extreme overplay it's received plus it's burnt on me massively. Still galaxies better than any of today's stuff anyways. Bright Side: everything that's left is in my top 15 with two of those in my top 5!

Finally an elimination that makes some damn sense! Lol I LOVE "I Hope You Dance", but I never thought it would make it this far. I wouldn't have minded seeing it win, but I totally understand it leaving now.
Now I hope Brad is next! Martina/Sara for the top 2 would be absolutely perfect!!!

First of all perfect ranking. Love a perfect ranking.
Like I alluded to before, I've always looked at "I Hope You Dance" in a different way than most. Kevin of Country Universe explained it best. (No I'm not quoting him)
This song has a certain darkness to it to me. I always felt like the hook "I Hope You Dance" was an unfinished thought. I feel like the narrator wants her daughters to dance, because she never did. "I Hope You Dance, but I fear you won't, like I didn't" in a way. The tone of Lee Ann Womack's voice hinted as such for me as there is a certain pain in her voice and fear. She sounds like she's pleading with her kids to have the life she wanted, but was never able to have.
It's a song I have always loved and appreciate the older I get. Very happy this song made a Top 4 finish and love this song to this day.

My favorite part of "I Hope You Dance" is that unexpected and killer bass intro Oh, also when the cellos come sweeping in about halfway through the intro music as well. Such a strong arrangement!!
