I'm imagining Taylor is maybe a killer, that shape shifts into a snake? And murders people. Something like that. I also expect lots of blacks and reds, akin to the IDWLF video. Hm you went too far with that one I mean, another theory, and probably more realistic one is that she'll kill her old self in the video. Same way The Weeknd killed his old self in Starboy.

That line really caught me off guard. I was listening to the song, and I was like "oh, this is different, a bit darker but nothing too unusual." Then I heard that line and my jaw dropped. I think IDWLF was a warning signal that Taylor was going to take a darker approach to her music. Doing a song for 50 Shades was a definite warning she would take a dark approach. I was shocked at first I'll admit, but after thinking about it, I felt it fit that she go for a darker, "bad girl" era now after all that has happened. This is Taylor post-1989, darker, much more edgier, and almost as good, if not better. I'm all for it honestly. I'm happy Taylor is taking strides to do something different, because it's a huge risk. But sometimes you gotta roll the die and see what you get. Even if you don't like the song, you have to appreciate Taylor for shaking up her style.

Apparently the MV is one of the most expensive ever which is execiting. There's no way this doesn't have a massive week 1 sales week, it's number one in less than 30 minutes on iTunes Link?

It's currently 12:12 for me, the song was released 11:00 my time. I was watching iTunes and it debuted at #149, and as I refreshed the page it was #1. I don't think you can track how fast a song goes to #1, you just have to have witnesses.

Its just me think if despacito is safe in number 1 chart ? I already listen Taylor new songs 3-4 times and i cant find something special from that songs ? That songs not even close with Shake it of , Blank spaces , Bad blood , we are never getting back together , i knew you are trouble. There's no way. It has 16 weeks locked, 17 is a toss up but it's extremely unlikely. Taylor instantly went to #1 on iTunes, she's selling very well right now. Plus she's releasing a music video tomorrow, that and combined with the lyric video along with Spotify. Streaming numbers are looking pretty good. I think thats happent cause this the first lead songs from her since wildest dream in august 2015, her fans so excited thats why this songs hit number 1 itunes cause theyr buy it before listening that. Believe me this songs only get 130k-200k sales , 25-35million , 50-70m airplay. (Sorry for my bad english)

Calling it right now. Taylor will debut at 1, but the week after, Desp will return to 1 for a 17th week.

YouTube and streaming will still likely be huge on week 2, and it should have great airplay and sales. Despacito is dying in every category. If Taylor doesn't stay at #1, then I believe Bodak Yellow will take the slot.

^ If you open the iTunes software, it's listed at no. 1, but my question is I thought they only update it every hour, but it ranked at #1 less than an hour after it was released? Do they update it every half past the hour, like 8:30, 9:30, etc.?

Despacito is already falling in every category, and Taylor is here to cement herself at #1. #1 on iTunes right now, and it will have almost the same type of residual radio gains that SoY had, and have massive streaming as well. All we need is that music video and it'll be clear by Monday what happens.

Also, RIP Wild Thoughts, it's no longer discounted I guess DJ Khaled and his record label heard of a new TS release, and decided that getting to #1 is now a useless fight.

Reminds of when Gaga was trying her damn hardest to get Bad Romance to #1, since Empire State Of Mind was dying. But then Tik Tok swooped in and she just gave up.

I like the new Taylor song. I'm iffy with her personally but I like that she can make pop culture events with her releases. The song is dark for her but it's not really that dark that it's not accessible. It's still a "safe" song for mainstream consumption

If taylor didnt release MV in this week, 17 week for despacito is possible. Well if she keeps that pace it will be 12 million views in a day. For a lyric video. For comparison, Rihanna's Work got 13.5 million in a day for its video, and Katy got 16.4 million for Bon Appétit's. Plus, people are saying the video is coming this weekend and she might be performing on the VMAs. It has a huge lead on iTunes (Kworb doesn't seem to be working right now but the first update with Taylor on it, she was #1 and the #2 song is down to 0.1595). On top of that, her Spotify should be huge

Airplay week ends on Sunday, right?
That should be another 6/7 million loss for "Despacito."

Yeah, week 16 looks to be the end of the line for 'Despacito' even without Taylor (and for the record all early signs indicate Taylor is about to f**k up everyone's day).

With streaming going up, Youtube still growing and sales getting more irrelevant with each week I'm sure we will get another #1 hit that lasts over 10 weeks soon enough.
