While I prefer Styles' song over the others so far, it's interesting than Liam's is a ripoff of JT while Harry's isn't considered as such. You think Harry rips off JT? No. Harry's has been compared to Queen or Oasis.

I can see Despacito falling first of top 10 on airplay before TWIL or SOY

The fact there's only 5 songs in the top 20 that gained AI means it looks like Fall will have a much different approach than Spring and Summer did with the same songs there the whole time.

Wasn't the "One Sweet Day" single deleted and that's why it crashed down the charts so fast?

Wasn't the "One Sweet Day" single deleted and that's why it crashed down the charts so fast? Yes, the label didn't print any more copies of the single and Mariah followed OSD with another #1 Always Be My Baby. Mariah basically killed that era. Similar to Adele's 21 era for a recent comparison.

I think OSD went off the chart 'so quickly' is because people were done…. kinda like Whitney's "I Will Always Love You"… It was a different era where longevity was only really starting to be a thing and people burned out faster. Columbia was totally promoting up "Always", and OSD felt like a Christmas / Winter record, not appropriate for the warmer weather. Also, 6 weeks after the single fell from #1, it was still in the top 25 on the singles sales chart… It's not like it had completely disappeared from stores overnight.

Honestly, I don't see any other song dethroning Taylor, aside from of course Taylor.
There was talks about a week ago about Despacito returning to #1, but I don't see it happening. Radio is in free fall (I expect it to be below Shape Of You and That's What I Like soon), plus it has lost a lot of sales and streaming. Wild Thoughts is also losing everywhere (I don't even think it's gonna be YE Top 10) so you can count that one out. Bodak Yellow is a streaming monster and has decent sales, but it has no airplay thus I don't see it climbing past #2.
Maybe TØP or Em can do it. I don't know.

As glad as I am that Despacito will f**kin' finally be dethroned, I wish I didn't have to be from another overrated dreck.
Hopefully Em can save us with a new album.

If Eminem's last #1 is any indication of the material he'll be putting out, I'll gladly take LWYMMD at #1 for the next 10 weeks.

Let's be real, even if Em did release a new single, I doubt it'd be a #1 hit.

Eminem got some discounted songs that are top100 on iTunes.. is this an indication of new music soon? Well this should prove that he is gonna do well, but I don't know if he can dethrone Taylor if he would release it very soon

^Well, anyone who's releasing a song would need at least very strong sales and streaming to be able to reach #1. Although, Eminem did manage to debut at #1 with Not Afraid, it remains to be seen whether he can even manage to get a song to #1 again, which would be his first since The Monster, just under 4 years ago. That was his last successful song. Things have changed a lot since then, especially due to streaming becoming such a major factor. It remains to be seen whether he can do well in that chart component.

Lil Uzi Vert just dropped XO Tour Llif3's music video. Will it run the second chart run or reach new peak?

He consistently has by far the oldest song in the Spotify top 200 (Till I Collapse), and he has the 11th most subscribed YouTube channel with two billion-view videos. His streaming prospects are pretty healthy.

I'm guessing the Harlem Shake must've been the biggest streaming giant with over 150k points from streaming and almost nothing else. Prince's Purple Rain was probably the sales king the week it returned to #4 when he died (due to not being available anywhere else). Not sure about radio. Harlem Shake was #1 on iTunes with a decent lead. It only peaked at #4 on the Digital Songs chart, which, while nothing to sneeze at, is nothing compared to its massive streaming numbers.

I'm not sure how long Taylor will last. Its sales will have a very steep second week drop, and it is also starting to lose slightly in airplay - it might be like the Erotica-type situation where it immediately peaks high in radio but goes down right after that. It's also going down considerably on Spotify, although the video does seem to be holding well on YouTube.
I'm actually thinking the 1-800 Suicide song by Logic might be the next #1. It's bounding up in sales and streaming, and its airplay might catch up soon.

We should make a thread "Will Look What You Made Me Do beat the record by Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber?"

We should make a thread "Will Look What You Made Me Do beat the record by Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber?" We should do this every time a new song hits #1, or is bound to hit #1 then. :sip2:

I'm not sure Spotify was gonna hold up anyways, considering how she's basically been screwing over Spotify users for the past couple years. A lot of casual users on Spotify have probably gotten used to not having her on there. Though this could also be a case of the honeymoon period ending a bit early over there due to people not liking the song.
