I'm not sure how long Taylor will last. Its sales will have a very steep second week drop, and it is also starting to lose slightly in airplay - it might be like the Erotica-type situation where it immediately peaks high in radio but goes down right after that. It's also going down considerably on Spotify, although the video does seem to be holding well on YouTube. I'm actually thinking the 1-800 Suicide song by Logic might be the next #1. It's bounding up in sales and streaming, and its airplay might catch up soon. It had a huge debut sales week in a mostly dead sales market, it was always going to have a steep drop (and even then, it is still selling well). It also had a huge radio debut week so again it was always going to have to drop a bit/stabilize. Unless something happens on Friday, it probably has three weeks guaranteed at least

We should make a thread "Will Look What You Made Me Do beat the record by Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber?" No, we'd say "Beat the record by Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, and Justin Bieber".

I mean, if it weren't for them there wouldn't even BE a song for Bieber to hi-jack, would there?

Kind funny that Justin biggest hit - and only a hit because of him - is a feature on a song by an "OHW". Meanwhile, his own new single is not doing much. But he was solely responsible for that OHW success, sure.

And it always keeps getting brought up (since there is ALWAYS someone who either still isn't listening or didn't get the memo) but Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee have already had hits previously.

Someone pointed this out on another forum When the current is posted Despacito 33 chart weeks, 20 weeks in the top 10, 16 weeks at #1 One Sweet Day 27 chart weeks, 19 weeks in the top 10, 16 weeks at #1 What was the poster pointing out? That songs in general have longer chart runs now due to streaming?

I expected more than 353,000 sales but that is still really good considering how sales are now, and its streaming numbers are extremely impressive. Well done, Taylor!

The sales # almost seems like a mistake.
Hits said 420K in its article, and Billboard itself said 400K in its most recent projection. Billboard is usually super-conservative with estimates (see - projecting 60M+ streams when it actually did 84M)

Even Kworb is still predicting 388,000. I highly doubt they got it wrong, especially with how big the song is, but I was expecting closer to 400,000/500,000

Has Ed Sheeran finally departed the top 10? I think so. There's no way three new songs hit top 10 and SOY survives. Thank you, God!

It's also noteworthy that they referenced it selling less than the Timberlake song (379K). So that's two cases of them referring to a sub-400K sales figure in the article and thus a sign that it's very accurate. It's still really weird. Hits works off BuzzAngle data, and reported the final number at about 420K. Billboard has access to real data as well, so it's wild that they could have been more off than Kworb (which is working off a model).

Billboard may work with real numbers but it's still an estimate, it's not like last Thursday or Friday they were talking about the 400K number.

Billboard may work with real numbers but it's still an estimate, it's not like last Thursday or Friday they were talking about the 400K number. 1) Actually, they were. This article is from Thursday: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7949833/taylor-swift-look-what-you-made-me-do-biggest-sales-weekYes, it's a projection, but the song was only selling ~30K/day after Saturday. So they shouldn't have said "could sell upwards of 400K" if it wasn't even at 350K yet. 2) Hits (via BuzzAngle, which gets data from iTunes and all the major services) reported a final number of ~420K.

Could pre-orders have affected the number?

^ I don't think so, they usually adjust for pre-orders the week the album comes out. I think it was a case that her sales were just extremely front-loaded.

This should be the most interesting week for the Hot 100 since the last 5 #1 switches since then (Shape Of You ->HUMBE ->That's What I Like ->I'm The One ->Despacito) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_Hot_100_number-one_singles_of_2017And apparently according to Wikipedia, LWYMMD has the #1 spot all locked up, before it is even officially revealed, but I'm pretty sure we all knew it would get the #1 slot anyway. I don't know why, but are they really gonna reveal the top 10 at 1 instead of 2? Is it because of Labor day they decided to do it an hour earlier or something?
