This isn't the second single. It was the "second look" into reputation. No different than releasing a song early on iTunes. While it may have PLANNED to be a single later on Rhy, they cancelled that idea.
Not a single.

Who would have expected Taylor Swift to have no songs rising on the radio before the album? This same thing (sort of) happened for Lady Gaga at the exact point when Born This Way dropped. The lead single had fallen out from the top 10 a month prior, Judas was going down too, and The Edge Of Glory was rising fast, but had yet to hit the top 10. |

Judas was a canceled single, therefore his status as official single was removed and moved to EOG!
And You Da One was a promo single with only a lyric video that was just a teaser, so no second single either.
It doesn't matter if ...RFI had a radio premier through all iHeart stations or had a radio edit. That's not official promo!!

Hmmm IDK. "You Da 1" was indeed announced as the second single. It received an adds date and a music video but unfortunately was completely overshadowed by the pure dominance of WFL that the average listener wouldn't have noticed it was the second single. I still don't understand why DJ thought it was a good idea to attempt to cut WFL's life short. Similarly to how they did "Cheers" wrong.

You Da One got a huge radio premier deal, it debuted on Hot 100 Airplay at like #28 or something like that, so it would be hard to argue it wasn't an official single. Strangely, WFL was released 1st and didn't get such a deal, but of course went on to far outperform YDO.

You Da One was a promo single. My posts from 2011 state that VERY clear You Da One was not a promo single. It got an adds date, a music video, and all the official pushes a single gets. It just got completely overshadowed by We Found Love, the song itself was rather polarizing, and so it flopped. Judas was also a single. It wasn't cancelled as a single as someone else above posted. It got all the stops as well, hit a brick wall, so her team rushed The Edge of Glory, effectively killing Judas. This is more in the vein of Maneater, which WAS cancelled in the US before its official release here in favor of Say It Right. |

I predicted it would be huge too and was shocked when it wasn't. I think I underestimated just how intense the love for WFL would be. That song just lingered and You Da One just paled in comparison to it.
I actually like Ready for It, but I am baffled by them just letting it linger like this without killing it or committing.

Yeah, I guess they may as well push this now. The only issue is I have a feeling once the album comes out, a song is going to be ‘chosen’ by the fans to be the next single and that could complicate its run, as well as this

Well based on the pre-release fan reaction to 'Gorgeous' (from those who heard the album before everyone else) I think it'd be safe to say this time around the fans have no clue what the f**king plot is and are best ignored. :sip2:

This is #83 on Spotify. There is no reason for this to be a single.
For someone of her stature, there is definitely still time to send a new song before the end of the year. She won't need a song at radio to get strong sales in the first 3 weeks or so.

This project is a nightmare. Out of the three singles they should have just went with this and one promo single. This is jarring at times but it's the best by far out of the three. They should give this a push it's doing ok in Canada. Look tanked in Canada really fast.
