I wonder who is calling the shots this time....I was hoping for a well plan release for this new era, but for some reason they are looking quite like amateurs with the single/promo single release schedule.

To be honest I am not a big fan of any of the material released so far, but this should have been the first single, from what we've heard so far. It would look great, with the double meaning of are you ready for it, and the fact it is the album opener. At this point it's probably wise to wait for the album release and the general public reaction before making more questionable decisions.

Maybe because Look is free falling on radio and they need a song being played at radio until the album comes out. Then the next single would be announced at the album's release.

I think Taylor just needs to put out a new single the day before or the day of album release with a DEAL and she will be fine.
It will be Taylor day everywhere.
Until then "RFI and LWYMMD" will still be getting some play. Probably about 75-80 mill AI between all formats.

Think of this as a Shape of You / Castle on the Hill situation, only at a much lesser magnitude. This already got a decent peak on the Hot 100, so it wouldn’t be a terrible choice to push this. The only downside I can see is that there won’t be as much hype for the album, unless they drop a brand new official single the day of the album release and maybe have two singles climbing the charts simultaneously?

First this was sent for rhythmic adds then it got pulled. Now this looks like its going to be pushed to pop right after they dropped Gorgeous which is is weak af. There is some problem at HQ. So stop stanning an open your eyes and see the cracks.

And why are we comparing this to Witness? If anything we should be comparing this to Prism which is def outperforming Reputation in single success already. Will the album outsell? Definitely, but Katy isn't an album seller as Taylor so....

I love Taylor and really liked LWYMMD for what it was, but if RFI and Gorgeous are the best she can come up with... she's in trouble. RFI is fine in the same way Welcome To New York is fine, as an album opener and just that. Gorgeous is a bore and sounds like album filler.

If you want to compare singles, a better comparison is RFI and Chained. Both debuted at #4, and have had very similar chart runs on the Hot100. Only difference is one song got an adds date, multiple high profile award show performances, and a video, and the other did not.

LWYMMD was a multi week Hot 100 #1, and broke records upon release. Nobody is saying its Love Story or Shake It Off longevity King, but again...let's not be ridiculous and draw pointless comparisons to one of the biggest falls from grace in pop history.

Maybe they released this a week after Look so as people would warm up to it before it became an official radio single so as they avoid the bad call-outs they suspected Look would get? I'm fully behind this as a single but if that's the case I fear there might not be any radio-friendly songs left on the album.

Oh my god. Collect yourself. Katy had a string of misses on radio prior to Witness, and Taylor did not before this era. Both saw relative success with their first singles, and both projects sound ten years dated. Trap music has been dominating for two years now, and radio more closely resembles streaming than it did in 2014.

If anything, this is more like the start of the Born This Way era. Huge polarizing lead single fueled from previous album hype, will no doubt have huge first week sales. It's still early but we'll see if it ends up having the same long-term effects. But every pop diva has an expiration date on radio.

But in Katy's defense, Taylor has also had her share of misses on radio too: Out of the Woods, New Romantics, 22, Speak Now singles, etc

1 of the fans from the secret session said the mv was not for RFI. But at this point I take everything with a grain of salt.
They also said Gorgeous had lyrics that cut through glass and the pop chorus of 2017.

Glad to see this picking up, or at least appearing to, now it's under cool new music and being pushed. #13 on iTunes and #83 on spotify. Hopefully a video will be recorded and released to push the song further.
