I've just had an epiphany and realised that this is her best song since 2006. Pls Queen Taylor, prove everyone wrong by turning this song into a #1 record-snatcher and gather your 4th consecutive 1+ million selling album in a week.
In all seriousness though, I don't get how pop music lovers do not support Taylor more. Do you not realise that she's the only one left who can still sell shitloads of albums, get #1 singles and fill stadiums? In times like these where we're lucky to witness our beloved pop girls score a cute top 10 and open with 80k SPS, we should all be more supportive to the only one who still does 2011 numbers and manages to keep female pop music relevant.

She makes ok to amazing pop music all of us in this forum have bopped to at some point. She keeps female pop music relevant and if she flops now maybe the whole genre will be over for God knows how long until another revival in a few years. She's quite literally the only female pop artist this year who scored a #1 single, albeit with a mediocre song, based on hype alone. It is our duty as female pop music fans to keep that going and not let her flop any further for the sake of our other faves. |

I think the Hot 100 will be more favorable to our beloved pop gurls in 2018 since more women and 80s and early 90s kids are the fastest growing digital subscribers. More men than women pirated music and I bet those freeloading attention-starved Youtubers and Spotify free users skew younger and male. The trap trend won’t die but the new formula should restore some balance.

Might be because I'm the first of my family to not grow up under a Communist regime and am conscious of my privilege to state that I think something is s**t, but nobody should force themselves to support material they do not like on some stupid principle. There's more important things in the world. Nobody's going to die because there's less blonde chicks in leotards scoring number ones. |

This situation is getting messy. Stations are not sure which song to play. I am not saying this is the same as Witness, but it is baring some resemblance. At least stations should now no which to play. Otherwise, I see both songs kind of lingering and underperforming.

I get why they would want to go with something like Gorgeous, but I will never understand why they aren't killing this in order to set Gorgeous up better. Also, I dislike Gorgeous so I am out of watching this era until Single #3  And first week sales of course. |

Both Gorgeous and this are radio friendly but nothing too interesting or that at least come close to SIO, Blank Space or Wildest Dreams!
She should really scrap all that and keep them promo singles and just launch single #2 later which should be a pop smash or a (good) ballad.
... Is this album so bad that these songs are the best she can put out?

If anything, this is more like the start of the Born This Way era. Huge polarizing lead single fueled from previous album hype, will no doubt have huge first week sales. It's still early but we'll see if it ends up having the same long-term effects. But every pop diva has an expiration date on radio. But in Katy's defense, Taylor has also had her share of misses on radio too: Out of the Woods, New Romantics, 22, Speak Now singles, etc I definitely see this as more of a Born This Way situation. Remains to be seen if she'll turn it around this era like Gaga managed to with "You and I" and "The Edge of Glory." Taylor is still riding off the back of her biggest album and her first as full-on pop, which is bound to soften the blow, whereas Witness was Katy's 4th album in pop and followed a middle-of-the-road Prism. |

Okay, I'm so close to believing that this is actually a visual album. This way, she's releasing videos for all of the songs. BUT if this was a visual album, she'd have extra promo... She likes surprises but wouldn't she get the extra pre-orders from the visual excitement?

Watch it re-enter the top 5 just based on streaming. If she gets some sales too this has a shot at a jump to #1 (if we all suppose that it'll be close to the streaming monster that LWYMMD was in its first week). #1 is a bit unlikely since this isn't a new release but it's safe to say that this will get a second week in the top 5. Unless it turns out to be a huge flop.
