So I guess they’re really going with this for the next single. Wow. If this is the best Taylor has to offer with this album this might just be the first album of hers I don’t buy. And 1989 was already borderline for me Are you sure you're into Taylor at all? Because 1989 was absolute pop perfection.

And 1989 was already borderline for me Are you sure you're into Taylor at all? Because 1989 was absolute pop perfection. I’ll admit I’m way more of a #countryTaylor than a #popTaylor. Her entire career and my opinion on it has mirrored the same way I felt about Avril Lavigne back as a kid. I liked #emoAvril better than #poppyAvril. Anyway back to Taylor, I just felt like her lyricism was far better on albums like Speak Now and Red, and I actually loved the pop tracks on Red as well. I Knew You were Trouble is one of my favorites from her. I felt like that pop sound was a genuinely good mix of her country influences meshed with Max’s signature sound. Her music used to really hit me in the feels and get me sad over relationships that never happened in my life lmao. When I listen to 1989, I feel nothing. They’re perfectly crafted and calculated pop songs, but that’s kind of it. I guess that what it’s intention was — and I’m not blind to the fact that it was her most successful era, its just that the album doesn’t really have the elements that made me a fan of hers in the first place. And believe me, I was a big big Taylor Swift fan back in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s. I think she’s again, going down the Avril Lavigne route, where instead of maturing with her original fanbase, she’s regressing to appeal to a newer generation of youth and it’s just not clicking for a lot of her older fans like me. And I’m 20 so it’s not like I’m outside of the demographic for pop music. I just think all three songs she’s released off of Reputation are extremely weak and contrived. At least when she would promote her songs off of her Hollywood relationships back in the day, she made a good job of making it feel genuine even though we all know most of those were phony baloney as well. Maybe I’ve just grown older and realized that she’s kind of full of sh*t? Idk. I’m gonna go listen to Speak Now and not ruin this for the rest of you lol.

Red's pop is much more personal and I understand why you prefer it. I struggle daily to understand wether my favourite album of hers is 1989 or Red. And 1989 has a lot of songs that hit your right in the feels like Clean, I Know Places and This Love. They are very different albums and i understand your position. So far the tracks we got from reputation are weaker than anything on Red/1989 but I seriously hope she is saving the best for last. Don't give up on Taylor!

Yeah actually OOTW is one of my least favorites off of the album. I think I would like RFI more than it if OOTW didn’t have its “bridge of slayness”

I actually love OOTW! But SIO and WTNY were nothing compared to the rest of the album.

I actually love OOTW! But SIO and WTNY were nothing compared to the rest of the album. Totally agree with this. OOTW is actually my favorite 1989 track (favorite Taylor song period), but the other two songs we heard pre-release, SIO and WTNY were dead last to me on 1989. WTNY has actually grown on me, but she can still keep SIO.

^^ same, OOTW might be her best song for me. I love it. 1989 was the first TS album I bought, I had the Max Martin tracks from Red but nothing else. I never liked her much at all, so I'm definitely one of those she got on board by shifting to pop. 1989 is largely amazing. SIO/WTNY are terrible.
Whilst I generally like the material I'm not sure what to make of Reputation so far. The songs aren't as lyrically clever as some of the stuff on 1989, nor as melodic. Let's see what's on the album.
At times, I can't shake off thinking girl just threw on some black, wrote some petty lyrics, got a 'dark' beat and expects us to be like 'wooooah OK Taylor means business'. Seems a bit juvenile.

This video has to be directed by Joseph Kahn. He's he only one that can make a 4 minute video look movie quality. They need to work together forever because they are absolutely magic together.

This has a lot of room to grow, as a lot of stations didn't have this, but I think the burn rate will end up being really high for this and fizzle out similarly to "Look What You Made Me Do" (not to the extreme nature of that one though). Mainly due to the high familiarity rate at impact.
I see this getting huge updates pretty soon for new stations adding it then increasing plays on it rapidly to catch up with its position on the chart, then crash back down to a normal rate. This will have a probably big 8th day effect.

Nice to see them going with this as the 2nd single. This has to be most early release for a 2nd Taylor Single in any era. So 2 Music Videos before the album release in a few weeks.Hopefully the music video can get this song back into the top of the charts.

I'm still pressed about this and I'm just going to say that RFI isn't the second single but it just gets a video because of th visual album thingy
However, the video looks SO high-budget and I don't think she'd do that for a promo song :(

This is the same woman that's still pissed at Katy Perry for some backup dancers. And threw Calvin Harris under the bus revealing her co-write on TIWYCF as soon as they broke up. She IS petty and childish. (Still love most of her material post-Red though)

The problem with the whole concept behind this album is that she's supposed to be poking fun at herself - specifically the bad press she's gotten in the last couple of years - but lacks the self awareness to pull that off.

The most bizzare thing is she did that perfectly with "Blank Space." So she is capable of crafting an amazing pop song that also functions as a self-aware parody, but it seems like she's just getting in her own way this time.

Uh, I don't know where you're thinking the concept of the album is "poking fun at herself", but I suggest you look at the imagery of the album cover again and see if you get "poking fun at herself" on a piece entitled "Reputation".

^^ bit uncalled for, it's a perfectly reasonable conclusion to draw from the material - the LWYMMD video in particular. That end scene has been her most successful execution of poking fun at herself imo.

I actually think your comment that was being replied to, regarding Taylor throwing on some black clothes and thus being "dark" now, is way more on the money in terms of any potential disconnect this era.

How many stations have this added? 162 (of 187) stations have added this on the Pop panel so far, including the 17 adds it got this week.

There are rumors the video version will be with a rapper. Sounds similar to the rumor that the lead single would be eight minutes long.
