Beyond The Blue Oh snap! It almost made it to top 10. I like instrumentation of this song and lyrics are also nice. It was my second favourite discovery of this rankdown but I do like all songs very much with the exception of my bottom 2 (I like them moderately). My predictions 1) What will be #1? Cry on the Shoulder of the Road 2) What will be #11? Beyond The Blue 3) Which songs belong in the top 5? Cry on the Shoulder of the Road, A Great Disguise, Swingin' Doors, Phones Are Ringin' All Over Town 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Safe In The Arms, Wild Angels, Phones Are Ringin', Swingin' Doors, Cry On The Shoulder) Cry On The Shoulder of The Road #1 6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? Wild Angels #7 7) What will be the highest-placing album track? A Great Disguise #3 8) Which album do you think won the voting for our next album? The Way That I Am 9) Any other thoughts/predictions? My predictions are probably not the most accurate.

Not surprised to see "Beyond the Blue" be the #11 song. It has always felt like the weak link on this album to me. Still like the song though, I don't dislike anything on this album.
Excited to see what will be #10!

I typed out my predictions but didn't submit them before I went out last night so...
1) What will be #1? "Wild Angels"
2) What will be #11?
"Born to Give My Love to You"?
3) Which songs belong in the top 5? "Wild Angels," "Safe," "Cry," "A Great Disguise," and ??? maybe "Swingin' Doors"
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Maybe one of the album tracks - "All The Things..." or "Beyond the Blue"?
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (Safe In The Arms, Wild Angels, Phones Are Ringin', Swingin' Doors, Cry On The Shoulder) "Wild Angels" at 1.
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? "Phones Are Ringin'" and I'm assuming somewhere around 7.
7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Here's hoping it's "A Great Disguise" and I wouldn't be upset with this very high.
8) Which album do you think won the voting for our next album? Well Christmas is upon us soon so IMO the obvious choice is Everlasting jk White Christmas Or did you leave a hint when you said that the "time has come" earlier??
9) Any other thoughts/predictions? Again, I think there will be a sizeable gap between the bottom and the rest of the rankdown. Might be a bottom 2 here, though.

I'm just going to preface this next reveal by saying that I am appalled at those who tanked this one. Nobody seemed to think this was among the best of the album except for me and Troublemaker, and I wonder why

The only song that isn't excellent is "Beyond the Bore" and we already got rid of that one.

I'm just going to preface this next reveal by saying that I am appalled at those who tanked this one. Nobody seemed to think this was among the best of the album except for me and Troublemaker , and I wonder why "Sure as children wonder why" is a prominent melodic moment in the chorus
I don’t know what brought us here. Somethin’ in the stars said you and me. I don’t know where this feelin’ comes from, But surely it was meant to be. For I have known you, even in my dreams. My eyes are open. My heart can see.
10. "Born To Give My Love To You"

Leo ✔ceruleanbornThis song got off to a very strong start thanks to mine and Troublemaker 's top 5 rankings! Aaaaaand then everyone else submitted... Lol it plummetted, and was a lock for the bottom 3 for the rest of the submission process. In the end the #9 song ended up trouncing this one mightily, as it is almost 20 points higher. This has always been a highlight of the album for me! Martina's vocal performance here is particularly alluring to me. I love the ringing resonance in her voice on the "Sure as children wonder why" line in the chorus. Not to mention the round with her and the background singers and her own voice on loop at the end of the song is one of the most innovative and beautiful moments of her entire discography.
I can kinda understand people finding this one of the weaker songs on the album, but I was shocked at the fact that that was almost a universal belief among everyone who participated... Lol over half of us rated this at either #10 or #11, so it was a very clear contender to end up near the bottom. Oh look, a live performance of a random album track! I was not expecting to find many live performances for this album 'cause it's so old This sounds SO GOOD!!!

With this elimination, we continue the trend of eliminating the songs from this album in reverse order! This song was destined to be a bottom-3 song from the very beginning, and frankly I am not surprised. It is a really good song, but the rest of the album is so strong that this one has always felt a little more like filler. It does take 5 top 5 rankings with it, which undoubtedly contributed to its ability to beat the two songs that were eliminated before it.
Like I said, I am not surprised to see this out here because it has always felt like a bit of a filler to me. However, don't let my #9 rank fool you! I LOVE this song, and would still easily give it an A if I had to grade it!

I almost had this as my #9 and moved it up a spot at the last second, otherwise I would've been 3/3 so far. Darn, lol.
Predicting "All the Things" is out next.

This is one of two songs on this album that I don't like as much as I like others. Chorus is great but verses are not really my cup of tea.

Also, I just have to do one of my iconic rants about Martina's voice for a minute. She has obviously always been known for her powerful, pristine, rich, and flawless tone. But every once in a blue moon there is a random raspiness to her voice for the briefest of moments that is just SO cool. The reason I bring this up now is, one of those moments happens in the beginning of "You've Been Driving All The Time". The line, "I was racing time, my momma said."
I love it SO MUCH when that brief rasp happens! It has only happened a handful of times throughout her career that I can think of. And the interesting thing? The vast majority of them happened on this Wild Angels album! I have no idea if it is something that she can intentionally do, or if she just happened to be hoarse during a couple of these recording sessions for this album, but I know that I love it so so so so so much and I think it adds SO much personality and character to her vocal performances from this album. I wish she would do that more often!
In case anyone is interested, the only two examples I can think of that are not on this album are "When You Are Old" (I'll need someone to comfort me), and "Cry Cry 'Til The Sun Shines" (She left a note on the dresser).

You’ve never walked away when I needed you to stay Or made me feel I’m not the one. There’ve been no broken vows, and the reason we’re here now Is all the things we’ve never done.8. "All The Things We've Never Done"
Track #6 Runtime: 3:25 Songwriters: Craig Bickhardt, Jeff Pennig Vocal Range: A3 - B4 Total: 117 Average: 7.31 Std Dev: 2.33 (3rd smallest!) Kanenrá:ke - 3 someguy - 4 BlueShades874 - 4 kansasmeetsmo - 5 castleoblivion26 - 6 codyj100 - 7 tim - 7 BackwoodsBarbie - 8 Troublemaker - 8 Cody Wants Out... - 8 .indulgecountry - 9 fearlessarrow - 9 @adam1995 - 9 dub - 9 bboat11 - 10 d3vin44 - 11 Leo ✔ cerulean born This song performed a bit better than I expected. I have always found this song to plod a bit, so it feels like it is much longer than 3:25. I do still love it though! It's just become one of the ones that I listen to the least frequently on the album, hence the #10 ranking. Lyrically this song is amazing, and vocally of course she knocks it out of the park. This song was on pace to finish at #7 for most of the rankdown, but thanks to d3vin44 's last place rank for this song, this got pushed into a tie with another song! That other song ended up winning the tie because it is somebody's #1... {Songs Remaining} A Great Disguise Cry On The Shoulder Of The Road Phones Are Ringin’ All Over Town Safe In The Arms Of Love Swingin’ Doors Two More Bottles Of Wine Wild Angels

well the first 3 songs ended up being the exact rankings I had for them. All great songs but definitely the bottom of this amazing album.
"All The Things We've Never Done" was a song I used to find boring but there is seriously something truly incredible about the story, her vocals and the overall production of the song that I love. Cannot really pinpoint it but I really like this song a lot. Sad that anyone could think this song is the worst.
Now as for the #1 that is about to leave us, I will be beyond upset if it is mine!
