14. I've Got Friends - So glad I revisited this one for this rankdown. I ended up liking it a lot more than I did before. (Still not a fan of "Shake It Out" though.) Ended up close to where I put it, but I wouldn't have complained if it was top 10 either.
13. Second Chance - Okay, I'll admit this isn't objectively the fourth-worst song here. But the lyrics always rubbed me the wrong way, and it's in a musical style that had seriously worn out its welcome on Alternative by 2009. I knew it was going to be popular on here, so I just had to tank it. It at least missed the top 10, so no regrets.
12. The '59 Sound - Nice to see a great band from my neck of the woods so high up, even though I'd have loved for it to inch just a bit further. Maybe I should have put it a few spots higher.
11. Use Somebody - Although this managed to crack my top 50, I do have to agree with the sentiments about this song being overrated. I legitimately enjoyed it once upon a time, but would be perfectly content to never hear it again at this point. Glad it just missed top 10. I'm not even that bitter about "Decode" making it over this song in particular, even though I ranked that one lower.
EXTRAS: I haven't actually listened to "I Love College" in ages, but it was a guilty pleasure for a while. I didn't even remember Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' top 100 entry here, let alone the song that missed the cut. Don't care to listen to that one or the Papa Roach song.

- What songs are you surprised to see make the top ten? Only "Decode", really. I wasn't shocked that it made top 20, but I didn't think it would be *this* popular.
- What songs are you surprised to see not make the top ten? "Sometime Around Midnight" is the only major surprise, though I thought "I've Got Friends" had a shot too.
- What song is zaclord's #100? "Savior". I couldn't tank it in a year like this, but if I'm right, I admire the audacity.
- Care to predict the top ten? This might be a bit bold, but here goes... 1. Panic Switch 2. Uprising 3. Feel Good Drag 4. Savior 5. Kids 6. Help, I'm Alive 7. Sex On Fire 8. New Divide 9. You're Gonna Go Far, Kid 10. Decode

Daryls #1 is probably a Radiohead song? Haven't looked at the 2008YE yet, but I know they released an album called "In Rainbows" in late 2007.
Anyways im about 20 songs late, but y'all did ANRFTW dirty, one of my favourite Cage The Elephant songs.

25. Breaking - Anberlin This isn't "Feel Good Drag" , but not a bad song and it's super melodic. Funny how this song comes in around where I ranked "Feel Good Drag"? I think my favorite is still "Paperthin Hymn". Don't know if it charted, but it sounds like it should have?
24. Notion - Kings of Leon I love that "Kings Of Leon on Autopilot" comparison. As you can tell ,by my rank, I didn't think too much of this? Should have been out eons ago.
23. The Reeling - Passion Pit You think I would rank this higher because of female vocals? Not this time. It's ok, but I was way more into guitar back then. Indie synthpop hit me hard, just around the time Alt music starting sucking, so it saved me.
22. Jars - Chevelle This is the Chevelle I like the most. I won't be tanking them anymore, so long they stay like this. That only leaves Deftones?
21. Show Me What I'm Looking For - Carolina Liar This was one of my favorite songs of that year. The reason It became one of my favorites, is because I don't usually flip for this style, but man this had a wonderful melody through the whole song. The bells or whatever really added to the song's power. I think I also serenated one of my ex's with this?
20. The Fixer - Pearl Jam Wow! LOL! At me ranking a Pearl Jam song higher than most Rocksters. My favorite Pearl jam song of all time. Very uplifting vibe on this song. I love how it fades out with the "yeah yeahs" and guitars. Good times all the way through. Just about where I put it too.
19. Sometime Around Midnight - The Airborne Toxic Event LOL! This is not my style, and you all know it. This overstayed it's welcome big time.
18. Zero - Yeah Yeah Yeahs Probably one of the highest female vocals songs, I ranked here. Nothing was going to top Halestorm, but I loved the melody of this a lot. LOL! at it striking #18 three times too.
17. Spaceman - The Killers Unless I choose Foo Fighters songs,This around where I lose my Number ones anyway. This song sounded like a perfect 80's throwback of the year, but the Killers have that effect on me. This song; in particular is one where you have to pay attention to the lyrics to get the full story. Amazing song writing from one of my favorite bands ever. So close to top 10 too.
16. Audience of One - Rise Against This song is pretty cool. I think I peaked it around #16 myself, but here it makes my Top 40. I would say it's one of their better songs, but not one of their best.
15. Ignorance - Paramore I guess this was a hit on poptart too? I'm basing this on all those popsters high rankings? I mean I love Paramore too, and this made my top 40, but not one of their absolute best? I didn't give them Top 10 action on this game.
14. I've Got Friends - Manchester Orchestra This wasn't a total letdown, but needs a few more gears to get me excited. It's melodic here and there but not to its full potential. There are parts that are cool and parts that feel out of place. I don't think I've ever charted anything from this band?
13. Second Chance - Shinedown ...and there goes one of the best Shinedown has to offer? At least I take honers for it's highest ranker. I think I lost all my top 10 tonight? LOL!
12. The '59 Sound - The Gaslight Anthem Now this song had a heartbeat. I ranked it so much higher than those other two snorefests. I didn't even realize it was the same band I had been tanking? It still just came out side my top 50 of the year. This might be my favorite song of there's? Has a bit of Bruce Springsteen vibe to it.
11. Use Somebody - Kings of Leon This is a good song. Glad it stalled before their other true masterpiece. Anyway, here is a bit of trivia. I had this song on my personal charts for 27 weeks and it still missed the top 15.

Extras:
I Love College - Asher Roth WTF was that? Thank goodness I never heard this travesty on 91x
Pen & Paper (Something Typical) - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Nowhere as fierce as "You better Pray". It's a decent Powerpop song. Can't recall if I charted this, but it's not bad.
I Almost Told You That I Loved You - Papa Roach I should warn you all ahead of time. I'm probably gonna rank this pretty high on next randown. At least top 50. Music video included.

Feel Good Drag Panic Switch Sex on Fire New Divide Kids Savior Uprising You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Decode Help I'm Alive * I purposely underranked a couple of these, because I'm sick of seeing them in the top 10. I guess it didn't help much? - What songs are you surprised to see make the top ten? That Paramore song isn't all that....and the only reason you guys have a Linkin Park song this high, is because I didn't tank the hell out of it, because "New Divide" is one of their best. - What songs are you surprised to see not make the top ten?My top 10 songs. Bet you knew I was gonna say that? - What song is zaclord's #100?Not too familiar with zacklord. Maybe "Savior"? Maybe he is sick of seeing it at #1 and he tanked it a bit lower than "Audience Of One"? - Care to predict the top ten?Not really. It's not the one I wanted, but it be fricking cool if "SEX on Fire" won.

If Psycho is my #1, then I might as well put Buckcherry, Theory of a Deadman, Nickelback, Hinder, Trapt, Godsmack and Kid Rock to fill up my top 10.
This is a hint for my #1 for 2008 in all seriousness: I might even give you a "man hug" if you did that. At least for the first 4 bands. ;)

I somehow glossed over the fact that "The 59 Sound" misses the top 10 =/ I was hoping it would easily land top 5 but nope.
My #56 is my lowest ranked song remaining and I don't think its deserving of top 10 - top 20 would have been ok but oh well. The rest looks about right. I'm rooting for "Panic Switch" or "Kids" at this point. I swear if "Savior" takes it though...
- What song is zaclord's #100? My guess would be "Help Me I'm Alive" or "Kids" based on his ranking of "The Reeling".
Also, "I Love College" should be erased from history.

I like all of the songs in the top 10 so that's a plus. - What songs are you surprised to see make the top ten? Decode; You're Gonna Go Far, Kid - What songs are you surprised to see not make the top ten? The '59 Sound; Sometime Around Midnight - What song is zaclord's #100? Not sure but I'll guess "Kids" - Care to predict the top ten? Hopefully I'll be proven wrong, but here we go: {Top 10}10. You're Gonna Go Far, Kid 9. Decode 8. Help, I'm Alive 7. New Divide 6. Kids 5. The Feel Good Drag 4. Uprising 3. Panic Switch 2. Sex on Fire 1. Savior
Looks like I will inevitably be on top of the closeness. I would have liked thewebinator to come out in first since I don't think he ever has before. That's why I kinda feel bad; someone always has to end up so close in 2nd.

Thought I'd comment on the 10 remaining songs:
2. Feel Good Drag - Didn't know this one before but I've already heard it when I started listening to the playlist, this is a great song. I love the vocals and the instrumentals are also really good, well-deserved top 10. 3. Panic Switch - Another one I discovered when I started listening to the playlist, awesome song, been playing it a lot lately. I think it would've been my #2 here and I hope it'll make the top 5 despite the haters. 4. Sex on Fire - I like Kings Of Leon but they're a bit overrated imo, this is a good song but I don't see why it's top 10 worthy. The only song on this top 10 I could do without. Would've ranked it around #40 probably. 6. New Divide - This is a really good song and I'm happy that Linkin Park made the top 10 but it's disappointing to see this making the top 10 when the much better The Catalyst couldn't. Would've ranked it around #20. 10. Kids - OMG this beat was familiar so I looked it up and yep... FIFA 2009, wow that's a huge nostalgia for me, it's one of the first games I've ever played as a little boy. The song itself is nice although the verses could've been better. 13. Savior - What do I need to say more, I love it a lot, would've been my #1 here too and I wouldn't mind seeing it top this rankdown too because it deserves that. 16. Uprising - Another really great song, would've been my #3 here. Would be nice to see this winning this time. 17. You're Gonna Go Far, Kid - Just heard for the first time and damn this was a great first listen, definitely sounds like a top 10 contender for my list, happy it made the top 10. 21. Decode - One of my favorite of theirs, really happy they got a top 10 on one of these. I hope you guys will rank crushcrushcrush well on the 2008 rankdown. 44. Help I'm Alive - Another really solid song by them and a well-deserved top 10.
I think this top 10 is really good, I enjoy everything a lot except Sex On Fire. Looking forward to the final results!

Good afternoon, everyone. It's top ten day. We're looking at one more "7 Eastern ish" start. I have been considering the possibility of starting a little later, so that more people can follow along, but we'll see.
Here are some fun stats about our top ten competitors. These stats could be wrong, so feel free to speak up if something here is incorrect.
- This is the first top ten appearance in any year-end rock chart rankdown for Anberlin, MGMT, The Offspring, and Paramore. - Kings of Leon are in their second top ten, having made the Triple A 2016 top ten with "Waste a Moment". - Metric are in their second straight Alt top ten, with "Gold Guns Girls" finishing #9 in the 2010 rankdown. This is Metric's last chance to do damage, for now, so let's see if they make it count. - Linkin Park are making their second top ten, having (barely) made the top ten with "Guilty All the Same" in the 2014 Active rankdown. Will they finish #10 again? - Silversun Pickups are no strangers to year end top tens, having made three previous top tens, including in 2010 for "The Royal We". They also have a second-place finish with "The Pit" in 2013, which they're looking to top tonight. - Muse are now in their sixth top ten. In the 2010 Alt rankdown, they had two songs make the top ten: "Resistance" at #7...and the song in the top ten for this year, "Uprising", at #3. - Rise Against are in their sixth top ten. Of course, "Savior" won both the Alt and Active rankdowns for 2010, and it's looking for a repeat performance tonight.

Showtime.
We kick off the top ten with, of course, #10, and it's a song with a lot of lovers. How many? FIFTEEN people placed this song in their top 25, including seven top tens, three top fives, and our first #1 loss of the evening. How, then, could this song only finish #10? Well, you can blame one of the two remaining people yet to lose their bottom ten on that, as they lose their bottom ten here. Is this either zaclord's #100 or peacebone's #97?

Seems like most people dropped this in ranking compared to 2010, especially heavy drops from SleepWellBeast and rowellfarm490. Also several high rankers for 2010 didn't participate for 2009. Below was the 2010 post. 1

I'm not complaining. Also, Red , you SURE there isn't a calculation error? I'm fairly sure, to the point that I just calculated another three times, after calculating numerous times before that. Trust me, this is one that I absolutely made sure was not wrong. peacebone's 97, Leaf's 89, and Sam's 73 killed it, ultimately. You think #10 was surprising? Well...yeah, that's probably the biggest possible surprise. But there are more surprises looming! #9 was not lacking in top-level support, either, with thirteen top 25 rankings, seven top tens, four top fives, and another #1. What doomed this song was the rankings this song had in the bottom half of people's rankings. One person, in particular, is about to be ecstatic.

I like Savior but no complaints about it or especially Uprising getting out. This is actually a really solid top 10 -- I'm sad I'm not partaking since my standard deviation probably wouldn't have been super low for once, but I suppose my help wasn't needed.
