Oof at LWYMMD. At least when "Die Young" took those huge plunges it was understandable because of Sandy Hook. Outside circumstances affected its airplay. People outside Taylor's (admittedly considerable) fanbase really just didn't care much for LWYMMD. Wait THAT's why the song fell that hard? That's so stupid, I mean I get it but still poor Kesha I feel like she got robbed of like a top 30 spot on the 2013 year end list because of stuff she never could have predicted that has nothing to do with the quality of her song (which I like alot) also LOL at -6.6 for Look What You Made Me Do It made sense at the time...as people were hearing about 5 year olds being shot to death on the news Kesha belting out "we're gonna die young" on the radio was very unsettling. No one wanted to hear that. The song had already peaked anyway, but it collapsed after that event. It happens; a lot of songs fell hard after 9/11. A goofy fun song like Afroman's "Because I Got High" just didn't fit the national mood and dropped quickly.

I don't think anyone, even Kesha, was thinking "poor Kesha won't make the year end top 30 now!" as parents were grieving on TV. It happens; a lot of songs fell hard after 9/11. A goofy fun song like Afroman's "Because I Got High" just didn't fit the national mood and dropped quickly. I think Pumped Up Kicks and to a lesser extent Titanium were the same. From Wikipedia:

Kesha was "forced to sing those lyrics"? Well, she didn't write the song, and if those are lyrics she didn't feel comfortable singing, she shouldn't have taken the song. Not a peg against the song though, because I do like it.

Just horrible. Good grief. There is NOTHING objectionable about the content - there was no point in revisionist history: “It’s a celebration song, which I’m obviously known for writing those....” Guess she was forced to say that too. All I can say is that I can wait until AC flips to Xmas to flush out SOY for eight weeks before it rockets back into Top 10 for year-end countdown shows.

She always wanted to release more rock music but because she was on Dr Luke's label, he pushed for the dance pop. The follow up singles C'mon and Crazy Kids were both in the same vein as Die Young. Just because a song was a hit, doesn't mean the artist actually liked the song. Look at Warrior and all of the rock influences on that album but it was the party dance pop songs that the label pushed.

LWYMMD is actually reminding me of No in more ways than one. The early buzz, the dissappointing chorus, the attempt to shed previous image, the payola-induced rise on radio, the EPIC fall after only a few weeks, etc.
Oh dear... That next single is gonna be a career-killing disaster if this keeps up.

Well, Swift will fall below "SOY," but at least Maroon 5 are there to keep "SOY" out of the top 10.

I'm almost positive her label is taking LWYMMD away from airplay so Gorgeous (the vastly superior song) doesn't have to compete with her own song.

I found radio callout score data. This should make it obvious why LWYMMD is dropping like a rock. Its scores are terrible. It has the highest "negative" score and the lowest "net positive" score by a wide margin. Programmers must have been compensated enormously well to have been giving it so much airplay until now. www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/callout.asp

^LWYMMD could fall as far down as #18 for next week's Radio Songs chart. Happy to see Sorry Not Sorry in the top 10. I would expect What Lovers Do to be in the top 10 as well in a couple of days and 1-800-273-8255 could be in the top 5.

For big drops from the airplay top ten, here's what I found.
Kesha's Die Young didn't actually fall that hard on airplay -- in fact I couldn't even tell exactly when it was affected, because it slid 3-5-7-9-10-15 on airplay starting on the 12/22/12 chart week, which isn't exactly a freefall.
Dixie Chicks' Landslide fell much harder, going 9-13-off (or at least out of the top 50) starting the 3/22/03 chart week.
Katy Perry's Chained to the Rhythm tumbled hard without a controversy behind it, falling from its peak on 4/22/17 to off the chart 3 weeks later: 9-10-19-off
Maroon 5's Animals didn't really fall crazy fast: 2-3-4-7-10-12
Lady Gaga's Born This Way fell 1-3-5-7-11-20-27
Can anyone else think of other songs that might have fallen that hard on airplay? Right now the biggest drop I see from the top ten is 9 spots for Katy Perry. And I haven't found a huge drop from within the top 5.

Thanks Gary!
So it looks like biggest drop from top ten is Wild Wild West falling 8-28 (20 spots) and biggest drop from top 5 is Gold Digger falling 5-16 (11 spots). So LWYMMD won't be worse than WWW but it could match or surpass Gold Digger.

Next update it will only go down to at worst number 16 and it'll probably stay above Thunder unless that song picks up by like +4 or 5

Does anyone know if the US Spanish format counts on Hot 100? I've always heard that it doesn't. All radio formats, plus some stations that don't have a particular format, counts for the Hot 100. Or at least that's for the radio formats Billboard publishes. I'm not exactly sure about this "US Spanish" format.

LWYMMD is out of the top 10 now. Real surprise.
Seriously, what the hell does Big Machine want to do with reputation? Gorgeous isn't an official single, and they're letting the lead single dusted out.
