This sounds straight out of 2010 and I love it for that. M83, Passion Pit, that group that did "Tongue Tied," etc. For whatever reason I could also hear this playing during an episode of Weeds. [/tangent]
Very rich melody here and that chorus HITS. I'm here for this.

This is really bad. It's so basic in every sense, so of course it's becoming a hit. It almost sounds the result of a computer trying to make a song like "Sit Next to Me."

I agree with Anna, this song is a whole lot of nothing. Reminded me of that JR JR song from a while back that spent forever on the chart. Just absolute generic indie saccharine garbage.

I agree with Anna, this song is a whole lot of nothing. Reminded me of that JR JR song from a while back that spent forever on the chart. Just absolute generic indie saccharine garbage. Imo that Jr Jr song was actually pretty solid, the weird synth thing sounded cool and I like the contrast of the happy music with the hopelessness of the lyrics. I feel like it was only hated so much because of the blatant payola and the half a century it spent between #11 and #15. But yeah this is trash. Really hoping it doesn't go #1 >.< |

This is the 2018 alt version of Dishwalla or Deep Blue Something. A wallpaper airplay song that’s inoffensive and likeable. From an act that the overwhelming odds say will never have a follow up hit. History is littered with these things. It’s the alt “starland vocal band”

Also, Dishwalla was pretty talented in a Jack’s Mannequin kind of way was too heavy for Hot AC but too light for Alternative and could not sort out what sound they were |

I mean I know this sold pretty well, but this feels like such a nothing #1. Mediocre, forgettable song by an artist we have never heard of and will probably never hear of again. I guess the only positive I have to say is you don’t see organic rises to the top like this song did very much anymore, especially from new artists.
