Broken finally got the boot on Mediabase yesterday. However, the battle has not been won completely as this is still at Billboard at #9. i'll take it!

This FINALLY leaves Billboard this week. The end of an era. To think this was a current for over a damn year and a half.

It's weird cause like I remember when this song debuted and I was still in college, and like, not even my last semester. It feels like so long ago, this song being on the alt chart has been the only constant in my life since then. That being said I'm happy to see it go

What I'd do to this song now that it's finally done:

pretty funny how quickly this went from liked by most of the board to public enemy #1. as someone who always thought this song was aggressively mediocre -- yeah im GLAD its gone.

I don't think I hated this song, but will agree that it overstayed by a while.
I was afraid that it would outlast Maybe, I'm Afraid (its SECOND follow-up).

Correct me if I'm wrong... but has this song clinched Song of the Decade? With First being #2 and Feel it Still as #3?

Shouldn't we have locked this thread in a chest and buried it at sea by now?

Shouldn't we have locked this thread in a chest and buried it at sea by now? Probably should remain open because of its high chance at winning the decade prize, but that's just me. It's the ultimate stereotypical indie rock song but it's a historic one due to the success it had. Made Top 40 (hard for any rock song to do period these days), hit #1 on the Alt chart, and lingered on Billboard as a current for 75 weeks, almost outlasting both of its followup singles, marks that I am unsure can ever be broken. Even though it is long gone from the charts finally, it remains a consistent #1 on the recurrent chart and likely will be a permanent fixture on alternative radio the same way old grunge hits have hung around for the last 25 years. IMO, keep the thread open. The song itself is nothing special, but its success is once in a lifetime.

No, I'd rather discussion about this be in the general rock discussion thread instead of bumping a song that has peaked donkey months ago.

I understand that perspective and I would agree with locking it after the decade charts are out. I just think that discussing "Broken" in its own thread makes more sense than it clogging up the rock discussion thread, especially if it does wind up topping the decade chart.

I still haven't recovered about this song dethroning "Savior". I'm scarred for life. IMOP continuing this thread could be dangerous to our health. can I get an "amen"
