Hooray! Also, wow, they're tied. Point totals for both songs are 107, and, of course, the average is the same (as you pointed out above, lol). If I did the tie breaker my way, with the highest ranking being three #1s each, the two #2s for "Last Christmas" would have broken the tie. Yeah, that is essentially what ended up happening - LC's higher highs (once you get below the #1s) pulled its median score up to a #2 while EC had to settle for the 4.

Of course Last Christmas would win, it's a Goddamn timeless classic. Also, I don't want to say this, but bboat you disappoint me.

Hey, I missed the Sad christmas one But I'm pleased with the results, the top 2 is obvious and so deserving.

Kelly got her win already so I don't feel bad she missed out on the double. But I also got a double P-P-P-P-PERFECT RANKING! with my top 2 so I can't bring myself to feel any bad.

NGL I massively regret doing a Chestnuts Xmas now; I'm not nearly as obsessed with this song as I am with Silent Night, so I didn't realize until going through these how untouchable Nat's original really is to me. It's not really that the singers themselves fall short, I just hate how almost everyone's chintzy musical arrangements bludgeon it to death with cheesiness.

Christina and Jessica were serving #VOCALS on their respective versions. Unfortunately I have no idea wtf those vocals even are. Also @antigonerising Stylistics were not my #15.

Crap, I have you down as having 2 #15s in my spreadhsee. I don't think it will make a difference for the rank but it will affect the average. (Edit - fixed)

How is Whitney that far down? I think this rankdown's results suffered from the small participation. It was very easy for any one person's results to pull a song down. It also essentially handed The Carpenters a victory over two songs that were clearly more universally liked. In the future I will have to remember that median is a better measure than average only when you have 15 or more participants. That said you have to admit that ending shoutout to Chanukah, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and whoever else Whitney wasn't trying to leave out was hilariously extra.

Come now Cynthia, Whitney was just being all-inclusive unlike some orange bitch currently living in a white house.

Oh. I'd be happier about The Carpenters winning if it wasn't for the fact that the median got the results wrong. I mean, the Celine song is my least favorite of the top three, but I like all three of the top three a lot, and if Celine deserved to win, she deserved to win. shrugHonestly, Cynthia, I'd roll with the average as the measuring point and only use the median to break ties from here on. The average accurately tells who likes what song, especially in the rankdowns with low turnout like this one. It is also worth noting that the median has only really screwed up twice, but it screwed up where it matters most: At the top. Not ideal.

Going by an inverse point system, The Carpenters weren't even 2nd place. Using top ranking as a tiebreaker, inverse points give you this result:
15. Jessica Simpson (16 PTS) 14. Christina Aguilera (20 PTS) 13. The Stylistics (35 PTS) 12. Ray Charles (40 PTS) 11. NSync (40 PTS)
10. Fantasia (42 PTS) 9. Luther Vandross (42 PTS) 8. Toni Braxton (42 PTS) 7. Whitney Houston (56 PTS) 6. Mary J. Blige (57 PTS) 5. Johnny Mathis (57 PTS) 4. Michael Buble (63 PTS) 3. The Carpenters (64 PTS) 2. Ella Fitzgerald (71 PTS) 1. Celine Dion (74 PTS)

Oblig master tag for anyone who might want to complete one of the upcoming rankdowns, but tomorrow is going to have to be another double-up night. Working on something IRL that takes priority right now.

Another night where I didn't get to do my own rankdowns smh. However the Country Christmas #1 is what I would have ranked #1 and my likely #1 pick in the rock list finished at #2, so I'm content! Gonna roll these out in pretty quick succession so I can go to bed. Also, took Red's advice and ranked these two days based on average first instead of median. Probably gonna do that for the rest of the rankdowns as well.
