Depends how it holds up on airplay, but it's possible. Her team is dumb for not discounting it. Organic top 10 hit that'll occur because God's plan is dropping like a stone and psycho is falling > discount top 10 Let it hit top 10 organically this week and then discount the following week to see how high it'll get I wouldn’t be so sure. God’s Plan and Psycho both are still receiving a lot of streams and they still have good airplay... Her team is officially cancelled. If Pop and HAC radio doesn’t start dropping this like a rock, then this still has a small chance of getting inside the Top 10...but if they do like I think they will, then there’s absolutely no way Delicate is gonna sneak inside the Top 10 at all. Get it together Taylor Nation, the discount is literally the last hope! |

Even if this misses top 10 (and i have to eat my leg) this is still a big hit. #1 on Pop, HAC #2 on Overall AI an eventual top 3 on AC (likely #1) and a #12 peak on the Hot 100. It will also likely finish top 50 on year end, so all in all it is a win. This also got to #10 on digital sales and top 30 on Spotify WW and US. Though some members try to discredit Smashicate, it isn’t working.

What I find interesting is that KIIS and Z100 never once put it in power rotation. As far as Delicate went on their stations was sub power rotation, nothing more...I wonder if it’ll eventually be put on power. It’d be something for Taylor Nation to consider about if they want to cushion the fall. Z100 actually had this at #1 on their playlist for a few days. It also went to power on KIIS. They just dropped it before it reached the top. |

The same thing country has been doing for eons: behind the scenes collisions and strategic pushes to allow "everyone" a week at #1. And all of it's legal since there isn't any money or gift giving involved with actual solicited airplay. (It's illegal to offer any sort of gift to a radio station in exchange for airplay, but it's totally legal to give some sort of gift/exclusive with the implication of more airplay.) Pushes to number one have always been a thing for pop, but it's never been this "let everyone have a turn!" before recently. I first noticed it myself back in 2016 around the time of "Hands to Myself." It and a few other songs just all randomly did what just happened here with "Mine," "no tears left to cry," and "Delicate": all stalled and showed signs of peaking and then zipped one by one into the top spot. (Though to be fair, at least this time Ariana and Taylor both were on track to battle it out for the top spot with one of them maybe getting blocked by Maroon 5, it was only Bazzi that clearly wasn't getting there until his "turn" of the push set things into motion for the 1-2-3 push of these three.) |
