Congrats! Definitely a deserving #1. I'm glad this project will get at least 1 radio #1. I mean there was the polarizing Look What You Made Me Do... Glad for this song! A 5-1 jump though! Has a song ever had this big of a jump to #1? Sorry Not Sorry had a quite unnatural 6-1 jump. Iβm actually surprised that nobody ever brings up SNS when talking about blatantly pushed number ones when itβs obvious that it wouldβve probably peaked at #2 otherwise, behind FIS.

The difference between the two pushes to me is that βLook What You Made Me Doβ looked like it was peaking right around #5, and then suddenly it received a massive push to #1. It just felt...fake. This, on the other hand, looked like it was approaching #1 level spins, but βGirls Like Youβ was coming up fast enough to block it. So this oneβs push felt more like taking advantage of an opening before it became too late and they were stuck with a #2, while that one felt more like they were creating a #1 hit out of just a Top 5 level hit.
Donβt get me wrong, I love βLook What You Made Me Doβ, and it was undeniably a hit. Iβm glad it hit #1, but it definitely wasnβt strong enough to do it naturally. βDelicateβ was strong enough to do it naturally, but natural time wouldnβt have been on its side.

I am also tired of people looking down on Look What You Made Me Doβs #1 becuase of (what it seems to us, but isnβt confirmed) payola. Payola can only get you so far and it still hit #1. I think I remember Hands To Myself and Send My Love (To Your New Lover) going through extremely similar things but no one spits on those songs. Remember when Cake By The Ocean wasnβt even #1 but the label said in a newsletter that it was going to be the next #1 but then it didnβt get past #2? If you think Look What You Made Me Do was the only song ever to get pushed to #1 by what looks like payola and that because of that its #1 isnβt real or doesnβt count, you need to reevaluate your thinking. Iβm also tired of the word payola now too lol bht thatβs word policing I think at the end of the day it's just because the song was polarizing and it's easy for people to hate on a song that not everyone likes (happens when an artist really switches up their sound), which makes its use of the same tactics as "Delicate" and others disraceful while a moot criticism for the others. lol Personally, it's still my favorite release this era followed by "Delicate". Regardless, I am thrilled they both hit the top spot! So that's, what: #1 "Look What You Made Me Do" #11 "Ready For It" #10 "End Game" #1 "Delicate" This era is a smash

Glad for this song! A 5-1 jump though! Has a song ever had this big of a jump to #1? Jumped 7-1 in September 2005.

I am really anxious to see how this performs this week. Here's to hoping it doesn't immediately start bleeding spins like other songs pushed to the top recently. If it does, I really hope it doesn't plummet like her last three singles (the better callouts should soften its descent and add to its longevity theoretically).
Also, predicted to rise to #12 on the Hot 100 this week. Do we think that will be its peak?

I think radio will drop this next week so maybe #10 is possibleβ¦ it depends, especially because GIAW should fall hard and Psycho is crashing. So itβs definitely possible.

Yes this made it to #1 on airplay but what does it really mean? Again in the last week Taylor did some payola to get the airplay #1. Kind of strange how Ariana is getting -250 updates and Taylor +250 updates. It's all well and good but the reality is that this song has yet to make the hot 100 top 10.

It means her song is the most played song of the week on pop radio. Yes, the number ones on pop have been artificial lately, but if you have been paying any attention at all, this was well on its way to the summit on its own merits before it stalled. And why did it stall? Same reason: to allow Ariana a week at #1, who also stalled the week prior to allow Bazzi a week at #1. Unfortunately that it how it seems to be working now, however, it's not like these songs are coming from #14 to #1 in one week. These songs are already in the top five and poised to take the top spot anyway. Who cares if this hasn't hit the top ten on the Hot 100 yet? That doesn't take away from just how well this song has done. Again, if you have been paying any attention, you'd know that the song struggled to peak on the three components of the Hot 100 at the same time. If it had been able to align its streaming peak from several months ago with its sales and airplay peak right now, it would actually be comfortably inside the top ten. But that really doesn't matter because you're acting like it's a huge flop for not being in the top ten when in reality, how many songs go top ten? Is every song that doesn't go top ten a failure? Absolutely not. It's not even far away from that area right now anyway. It's #15. As if five while spots make a huge difference in determining what classifies as a hit or not. You need to knock it off with your flame bait, and before you start your usual whining on how I'm attacking you or abusing you of "being stupid" (you've literally accused me of this via PM before), consider this: This isn't the first time you've tried to knock down this song's successes in this thread, so you're pretty obviously trolling. You are more than old enough to understand how all of these things work. You've been on Pulse for how long now? Certainly long enough to understand that peaks only tell one snapshot of an entire story. Certainly long enough to comprehend behind the scenes stuff goes on at radio all of the time (even with your precious Camila Cabello, who you still claim didn't get fair treatment by Ed Sheeran for some reason). Certainly long enough to stop acting like you're an ignorant newbie. Yet here we are yet again. I've had more than enough of it and so have many others here, so please, for the love of God, change your attitude and this before you post, or leave. We don't like a "but it didn't do this" or a "this is done" our a "this is all payola" queen. Wowwww this READ

It would really be unfortunate if pop radio furthered the decline of its organic #1s.

I was kind of expecting a -200 so a -43 isn't that bad tbh

Maroon 5's turn.
The burn rate on this is still fairly low on callouts, so I don't expect this to just tank now. I think it'll have a decent ride out of the top ten and into recurrency. We might see it drop into the -300s this week, but I doubt it'll hold those steep drops much longer than a week.

What I find interesting is that KIIS and Z100 never once put it in power rotation. As far as Delicate went on their stations was sub power rotation, nothing more...I wonder if itβll eventually be put on power. Itβd be something for Taylor Nation to consider about if they want to cushion the fall.

Anything else goes. This is fairly common practice, it's interesting how people only point it out when it happens to Taylor, but alas. I was kind of expecting a -200 so a -43 isn't that bad tbh Technically not true. Per US law, in-kind gifts are just as illegal as cash. You, quite simply, cannot provide compensation in exchange for airplay. There are loopholes. You can provide a station with tickets or meet-and-greet passes that it can give away on-air (it must give away all of them); and the station could then independently "choose" to play the artist to help "promote" the giveaway. Same would probably go for an interview or station concert. I guess you can subtly imply that maybe the artist would like the station better if they "powered up" and pushed the song to #1. But you can't offer anything TO the station (or its employees) in exchange for airplay. To your point about Taylor ... we've actually been seeing a lot of songs posting MASSIVE spin gains the week they go #1. While most such gains haven't been quite as significant as those enjoyed by LWYMMD and Delicate, they're big enough that we shouldn't be rattled by a big "push" to #1 anymore. The question concerns the fall. "The Middle" and "Psycho," as an example, both had 1500+ bullets the week they went #1 ... but then settled around the top for a while. Look What You Made Me Do crashed after hitting #1, which made the "push" seem artificial. We'll see what happens with Delicate...but if it endures ANY sort of spin loss this week (especially since it isn't even at 17K weekly spins) after last week's bullet (especially since there's no Ready For It siphoning away airplay), people are going to pass judgment.

Organic top 10 hit that'll occur because God's plan is dropping like a stone and psycho is falling > discount top 10 Let it hit top 10 organically this week and then discount the following week to see how high it'll get

Its airplay, the thing keeping it up the most, is peaking right now (AND maxed out on both her core formats) and will be falling by the end of the week. There's not really much to do to push it further at this point.
