Is Gucci Gang really bigger than Thunder? You know the answer. I'm positive you would think differently if you were a 21 year old black college student. You're in your 40s right? And you're white right? Of course you think Thunder is bigger than Gucci Gang. The people you surround yourself with all probably know Thunder because that's the demographic that would know a rock song. It's not the demographic that would know an urban song popular through streaming catering to an entirely different demographic. I would like to just toss out that this isn't really a black or white thing when it comes to the current rap scene.

Really? I mean, it's not that big a surprise, but I do see Gucci Gang could get to #1 in a week or so. Gucci Gang needs 60M+ streams to hit #1 (67M to hit #1 this week). I don't think it can reach these numbers. No it doesn't. Its sales will rise as it becomes more popular.

Or do you think Gucci Gang will hold its spot in the top 3? They're about equal in points. If thunder can maintain its airplay gains and pick up some streaming, it will top Gucci gang (assuming Gucci gang doesn't keep increasing at the rate it has been)

How many points do Gucci Gang and Thunder have in relation? Since it looks like Gucci gang could make a play for #1. If that’s the case I’m gonna go pull a Kanye West fan and stream Rockstar non-stop.

90 percent of the country doesn't even give a s**t and wouldn't even know the majority of the top 50 at any given period of time. Is Gucci Gang really bigger than Thunder? You know the answer. Overall? We know the answer to that. But the Hot 100 measures a 7-day period across several metrics. Using those metrics, Gucci Gang earned more points than Thunder. How you choose to interpret that is your fault.

Urban music succeeding on the Hot 100 really got you hoes pressed. 😂
If the roles were reversed and pop was smashing on streaming while Urban performing better in sales and airplay, I would not hear a single PEEP out of you hoes.

Ew at Gucci Gang Havana hopefully can save us and be the next #1 over it
If not, I'm gonna hope Bad At Love & New Rules somehow power their way to the top 10 and begin to pose a fighting chance

Ah, dang it! Rockstar spends yet another week at #1. Blech. And Gucci Gang rising to #3? No, just no. This is driving me nuts. The only reason this somehow leapfrogged Thunder is because of streaming. I mean, how is this even okay?! This is pissing me off big time.

The only concern I have in Urban's dominance now is the lack of diversity on the r&b chart. Due to the current makeup of the chart (Streaming and album cut dominance), the charts have never felt more one-note or unbalanced. Crossover songs are excluded, pure r&b songs are rare, veteran artists are almost non-existent and women - other than the odd Cardi B, SZA or Nicki - aren't even in the top 60. It represents the least variety on the chart in its 75 years.

If Gucci Gang somehow manages to hit #1, I will scream. Someone else can't overtake these two songs (That and Rockstar) soon enough.

So Gucci Gang's drop last week was really bizarre. I wonder what happened. This week's #3 is in line with what we expected with its rise
Looks like Havana will be stuck at #2
Glad What Lovers Do was able to hit the top 10 last week its best shot and didn't peak at #11 like 3 of my faves this year (Say You Won't Let Go, Issues, Slow Hands)

One reason I follow the charts is it exposes me to music beyond my little corner of the world. Gucci Gang is not a big radio hit, overall(although it is gaining on R&B/Hip-Hop), but as we all know, there are more ways to listen to music these days than your local radio stations

I don't think I have ever been so disconnected from the top 10. I have yet to hear Mi Gente, Feel It Still (outside of mashups), Thunder, Bodak Yellow and Rockstar in full. I have never heard of Gucci Gang and I have only heard Perfect and Too Good At Goodbyes on the radio. Havana and 1-800 are the only songs I actually like.. I find this strange (not in a bad way, though) as in 2013, 2014, a lot of 2015 and in 2016 , I loved the majority of each week's top ten :/ This has probably been the worst year for popular music in recent memory. I hope pop starts coming back to the top of the chart soon (because a lot of the pop songs this year were great!) Basically I feel the same about this years music. I was just talking about it to my friend yesterday. However I have heard a decent amount of the songs you mentioned but others through out the year I haven't. I also don't hear anything good or just don't hear anything from some songs that are hitting the top of the charts in the last year. Perhaps it is my age but I have always liked current music. Maybe it's rap/viral music??? I don't know but I have been feeling this way for the past year or so.

It represents the least variety on the chart in its 75 years. Adorn was arguably the last "pure"-ish R&B hit. Urban radio swung hard to the left after that, it happened way before streaming entered the equation. Imo Gucci Gang shooting up to #3 despite non-existent sales/radio is proof that streaming is weighted too heavily. I totally get weighting streaming more then the other two components, considering that reflects how people consume music these days, but this is too extreme imo when songs with great sales/radio can't go top 10 because of one competent sucking so much (see: What About Us). But they've actually increased the weight of sales twice, they just keep going down as people switch to streaming. You'd have songs entering high with strong sales and low airplay (all those One Direction leads for example) before when sales were the main direct real-time arm of the consumer, now it's streaming.

No it doesn't. Its sales will rise as it becomes more popular. And so will it's radio. That's why I said 60M+. 67M if it wanted to hit #1 this week (Dec. 2). *67 million with 64M being On-Demand/YouTube.

It's not even that I don't like rap/urban music, there have been many many rap and urban songs I have liked, however the current popular music just sounds so lazy, effortless and bland. The same can be said for a lot of pop songs too (especially those basic EDM drops I am getting sick of), but those haven't been annoyingly taking over the chart.

From The Hot 100 article
Lil Pump's "Gucci Gang" blasts back to the Hot 100's top 10 at a new high (12-3, besting its prior No. 7 peak), powered most heavily by its 3-2 gain on Streaming Songs (45 million, up 34 percent, good for the Hot 100's top streaming gainer ribbon). Helping drive the increase: continued momentum of the song's official video, which premiered Oct. 23, and the track's usage in user-generated viral videos. The track also flies 40-18 on Digital Song Sales (18,000, up 45 percent).

If pop songs were storming up the charts in Gucci Gang style, y'all definitely wouldn't be sitting here complaining about streaming being weighted too heavily.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8039635/hot-100-post-malone-rockstar-camila-cabello-havana-imagine-dragons-thunderPost Malone's 'Rockstar' Tops Hot 100, Camila Cabello's 'Havana' Is Top Seller & Imagine Dragons' 'Thunder' Rules Radioby Gary Trust 11/20/2017 Cabello & Imagine Dragons score their first No. 1s on the Digital Song Sales & Radio Songs charts, respectively. Post Malone's "Rockstar," featuring 21 Savage, leads the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Dec. 2) for a sixth week. The song fends off Camila Cabello's "Havana," featuring Young Thug, which holds at its No. 2 Hot 100 high and takes over at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. Meanwhile, Lil Pump's "Gucci Gang" charges from No. 12 to No. 3 on the Hot 100 and Imagine Dragons notch their first Radio Songs chart No. 1 with "Thunder," which lifts 5-4 on the Hot 100. As we do every Monday, let's run down the top 10 of the Hot 100, which blends all-genre streaming, airplay and sales data. All charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Nov. 21). "Rockstar," released on Republic Records, tallies a seventh (nonconsecutive) week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart with 49.2 million U.S. streams (up 13 percent), in the week ending Nov. 16, according to Nielsen Music. It holds at No. 5 on Digital Song Sales, which it led for a week, with 53,000 downloads sold (up 13 percent) in the week ending Nov. 16 and surges 10-5 on Radio Songs with 81 million in all-format audience (up 5 percent) in the week ending Nov. 19. Weekly "Rock" chart update: With a sixth week atop the Hot 100, "Rockstar" ties LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock (six weeks, 2011), for the second-most weeks on top among No. 1s with "rock" in their titles. It's now one week from matching Joan Jett & the Blackhearts' "I Love Rock & Roll" (seven weeks, 1982). "Rockstar" concurrently leads the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for a sixth week each. Camila Cabello's "Havana," featuring Young Thug, holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100 and becomes each artist's first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart (4-1; 75,000, up 31 percent, boosted by a new remix with Daddy Yankee that accounted for 11 percent of the song's sales in the tracking week). Cabello had previously peaked as high as No. 3 on Digital Song Sales with "Bad Things," with Machine Gun Kelly, in February. As a member of Fifth Harmony (whom she departed nearly a year ago), she hit a No. 4 high on the sales list with the group's "Work From Home," featuring Ty Dolla $ign, in 2016. "Havana" vaults 9-3 on Radio Songs (87 million, up 17 percent) and rises 4-3 on Streaming Songs (33.4 million, up 1 percent), while winning the Hot 100's top digital sales and airplay gainer awards (marking the second straight week that it's earned the latter nod). Imagine Dragons' "Thunder" rolls from No. 5 to a new No. 4 Hot 100 high and concurrently crowns Radio Songs (2-1; 115 million, up 9 percent), where it's the band's first No. 1. The act previously peaked as high as No. 2 on Radio Songs with "Radioactive" in 2013. Also notably, "Thunder" succeeds Portugal. The Man's "Feel It Still" atop Radio Songs (after five weeks at No. 1), marking the first time that two rock songs have led the list consecutively in five years, since fun.'s "We Are Young," featuring Janelle Monae, and then Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," each of which led for six weeks in 2012. "Thunder," which Imagine Dragons performed on the American Music Awards last night (Nov. 19) in a medley with Khalid's "Young Dumb & Broke," retreats 3-4 on Digital Song Sales (56,000, down 5 percent) and lifts 23-20 on Streaming Songs (17.1 million, up 3 percent). As previously reported, the track becomes Imagine Dragons' second No. 1 on the Pop Songs airplay chart, following "Demons" in 2013. On the Hot Rock Songs chart, "Thunder" leads for a third week. Rounding out the Hot 100's top five, Cardi B's former three-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)" descends 3-5. Sam Smith's "Too Good at Goodbyes" dips to No. 6 from its No. 4 Hot 100 peak. Still, the ballad bumps 11-9 on Radio Songs (73 million, up 4 percent), where it's Smith's fourth top 10, following Disclosure's "Latch," on which he's featured (No. 4, 2014), and his own "Stay With Me" (No. 1, six weeks, 2014) and "I'm Not the Only One" (No. 2, 2015). Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" pushes to a new Hot 100 high (8-7) and, like Smith's current hit, reaches the Radio Songs top 10 (17-10; 73 million, up 16 percent). Sheeran scores his seventh Radio Songs top 10 and the third from his album ÷, following "Shape of You" (12 weeks at No. 1) and "Castle on the Hill" (No. 10). Logic's "1-800-273-8255," featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, drops 6-8 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 3; Portugal. The Man's "Feel It Still" slides 7-9, after hitting No. 4 (the band also performed the song on the AMAs last night); and J Balvin and Willy William's "Mi Gente," featuring Beyonce, keeps at No. 10, after rising to No. 3, while leading Hot Latin Songs for a seventh week. Speaking of Beyonce, she debuts on the Hot 100 as featured on Eminem's "Walk on Water," the chart's highest arrival this week at No. 14. The rap ballad opens on Digital Song Sales at No. 2 (64,000) and Streaming Songs at No. 15 (18.3 million). Coincidentally, the song is Eminem and Beyonce's 57th Hot 100 entry each, tying them with Madonna and The Rolling Stones for 19th place among all acts for the most appearances since the chart's Aug. 4, 1958, inception. Find out more Hot 100 news in the weekly "Hot 100 Chart Moves" column and by listening (and subscribing) to Billboard's Chart Beat Podcast and Pop Shop Podcast. And again, be sure to visit Billboard.com tomorrow (Nov. 21), when all charts, including the Hot 100 in its entirety, will refresh.
