Imo Gucci Gang shooting up to #3 despite non-existent sales/radio is proof that streaming is weighted too heavily. I totally get weighting streaming more then the other two components, considering that reflects how people consume music these days, but this is too extreme imo when songs with great sales/radio can't go top 10 because of one competent sucking so much (see: What About Us). It's not that they're weighting streaming more than other metrics. Sales are actually weighted more than streaming, but since people aren't buying music as much as they used to and are streaming way more than they buy, that higher weighting feels virtually inconsequential.

Havana and Thunder are the top 2 songs in the Usa.I don't care what billboard's flawed chart formula says. I guess we all have our own favorites.

I'm sure if you asked 90 percent of the population what they thought the most popular song was in any given week, it still wouldn't match what Billboard says. Besides, is it Billboard's job to report the "most popular" or is it to report the most listened to/heard/purchased song of the week and up to people how to interpret those stats.

I thought Gucci Gang was going to top 5 last week, that drop was so bizarre. It's obviously very popular right now.

Yeah a song with SLes bareky cracking top 50 and airplay outside of the top 100, is defintely the 3rd biggest song in the country. What kind of fuckery is billboard on? How did it even drop that much last week to jump 9 fucking spots?
Streaming is too strong, its a mess.

And the most downloaded songs each week are being downloaded by less than 100k people (i.e. way less than even 0.5% of the population). How would sales be a better measure of popularity, then?

You guys need to get over the fact that urban music is what is popular among teens right now. Ask them (the people who actually matter to current music) what the biggest song is right now and most would say Rockstar or Gucci Gang probably

Demographics sis, demographics. I could understand comparing Gucci Gang and Motorsport, or Thunder and another pop/rock song but your argument is a mess.

Every single kid in my High school knows Gucci gang and listens to it. Teenagers listen to way more music then anyone else.

I don't think I have ever been so disconnected from the top 10. I have yet to hear Mi Gente, Feel It Still (outside of mashups), Thunder, Bodak Yellow and Rockstar in full. I have never heard of Gucci Gang and I have only heard Perfect and Too Good At Goodbyes on the radio. Havana and 1-800 are the only songs I actually like.. I find this strange (not in a bad way, though) as in 2013, 2014, a lot of 2015 and in 2016 , I loved the majority of each week's top ten :/ This has probably been the worst year for popular music in recent memory. I hope pop starts coming back to the top of the chart soon (because a lot of the pop songs this year were great!)

I blame that damn Snapchat filter for the substantial rise of Gucci Gang.

I'm positive you would think differently if you were a 21 year old black college student. You're in your 40s right? And you're white right? Of course you think Thunder is bigger than Gucci Gang. The people you surround yourself with all probably know Thunder because that's the demographic that would know a rock song. It's not the demographic that would know an urban song popular through streaming catering to an entirely different demographic.

I'm sure most of the people I engage with have never heard/heard of Thunder, lol. It really all depends on demographic.

How many points do Gucci Gang and Thunder have in relation? Since it looks like Gucci gang could make a play for #1.

Gucci Gang: 32,900 (18k sales, 14M airplay, 45M streams) Thunder: 31,400 (56k sales, 115M airplay, 17.1M streams) You know, this is just an estimative but it shows that rockstar and Havana are the only songs in the battle for #1 before 2018.

I don't hate any of these songs but I really hate everything in the streaming era. Why can't a freaking non-viral pop song hit #1? Or any other genre (hip hop not included).
I mean, the #1 song selling almost 70k (or less) in a week? Literally 2 years ago, the top 3 songs used to sell more than 150-200k a week.

Really? I mean, it's not that big a surprise, but I do see Gucci Gang could get to #1 in a week or so. Gucci Gang needs 60M+ streams to hit #1 (67M to hit #1 this week). I don't think it can reach these numbers.
