YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The #1 album track and the #1 single are both the BEST choices. Working on this rankdown has elevated Dónde Están los Ladrones? to being my favorite Shakira album. And wavey. has no taste

Awesome results! 3. Suerte (4): very few songs have ever made Andean Music popular globally (maybe Simon & Garfunkel’s If I Could is the ultimate example but don’t recall others tbh). So the fact that Shakira decided to launch her English career with a single that used quenas and charangos as key instruments, and mentioned the Andes explicitly was huge and meant a lot to us Andinos the song itself is pop heaven, with pop/rock, dance elements that made it unique. It should’ve been a top 5 if not number one in the hot 100 over much lesser songs from the Latin explosion happy to see it top 3 here! 2. La Tortura (7): in hindsight I should’ve ranked this at #5, but I guess I had my sixth sense telling me it could be #1! Lol I really like this one as it’s the most interesting reggaeton-based song I’ve ever heard. It also has pop and dance elements combined, which make it even stronger. Alejandro does an awesome job as well, and elevates the song with his dramatic vocal style, despite this being a song completely out of his comfort zone. It should’ve been a bigger hit in the US but it got quite far for being a Spanish single. The alternate version is ok. Good to switch it up but doesn’t work as well as the original. 1. Ojos Así (1): after the purging of PD singles I couldn’t accept other winner lol. This was huge. And let’s pause and think that this was a freaking FIFTH single (!). This song was another showcase of her versatility and attitude. She sells it, mixing some rock elements to a dance pop and middle eastern tune, adds middle eastern inflections to her voice and background vocals. And the video showed her most polished image thus far, and the first time she showed her hips don’t lie :-) her best produced song thus far as well told us she was ready for a crossover -and I believe all South Americans were jumping up and down at having our first big crossover Global artist!!! Deserved winner and a great surprise here! PS: also ecstatic at my top 3 album tracks ranked in the top 3!!! Si te vas (unplugged) was a personal chart-topper, Octavo Día was another top 5 off DELL, and La Pared (with its Coldplay influences) was another top 5 in my personal chart. And yes, DELL is one of the best Latin albums ever!!!
