So if Gummo isn’t corrected AIWFCIY could go top 10... Corrected? Whatever problem it had with its streams

Ok so this is a bit of a random question but just wondering what's the biggest song of the decade so far, Uptown Funk, Closer, or Shape Of You? They had 31,32,and 33 weeks in the top 10 respectively but Uptown Funk was bigger than the other two at its most points and also got 56 weeks instead of 52 and it looks like Shape Of You is gonna fall out at 52. So is Uptown Funk still the biggest song of the decade?

^ I think it's Uptown>Shape>Closer, but SOY is bigger than UF in Europe imo.

Considering how low "What Lovers Do" is in streaming and how its out of the top 10 in sales, I don't see how it's still so high on the Hot 100.

So is Uptown Funk still the biggest song of the decade? As long as that 25/52 rule is up, nothing is going to beat Radioactive in terms of actual chart performance for a long time. Of those three, Uptown Funk spent 56 weeks and averaged at #12-#13 throughout that entire year (pretty amazing if you ask me). Closer spent 52 weeks and averaged at #18-#19 Shape Of You has only spent 47 weeks on the chart, but is already ahead of Closer. It's average position throughout this year has been #8 and #9 (wow!) However, it will not surpass Uptown Funk if it can't get a 53rd week. So Uptown Funk > SOY > Closer. Of course, a lot of those year-end and decade-end lists use cumulative points rather than chart performance. And thus, they are weighted towards songs that spend a long time at #1. So knowing that, I wouldn't be surprised if Despacito was a contender. And for the decade-end list, they'll probably "adjust" so that early 2010's matter more than later 2010's (something about turnover rates).

Unless Billboard does something to adjust for songs whose runs got cut short by the 25/52 run, none of these three will end as the #1 song of the decade on the decade end chart and it will be "Party Rock Anthem" topping that chart instead.

^Actually, for decade-end list they use position based chart performance rather than cumulative points. They changed that for the 2000s decade-end chart, while I think for the 1990s one it was actually based on cumulative points. That is the main reason why they have disavowed the latter chart in future releases releases of it and why the positions in the All-Time Hot 100 chart (Greatest of All-Time in its most recent version), the relative positions of songs from that decade don't match those from that original Decade-End chart.
That change in methodology is the main reason for which 20 weeks songs, regardless of how well they placed during their chart year, now don't have no chance of making a Decade-End. Which means Harlem Shake won't make the 2010s decade-end chart, in spite of being #4 in the 2013 Year-End Hot 100, to cite an example.

^^ Well, I think that number is expected, because there are 3 versions in the top 100 (#1 #2 #100). Speaking of Sheeran, SoY is unstoppable...Top 20 on US iTunes, top 15 on WW spotify, top 5 on Youtube, top 10 on WW iTunes chart. This is unreal. What caused the returns of SOY? Ridiculous. I'd guess we're starting to get the year end boosts when they do their countdowns of 2017?

It's the "Cash Me Ousside" girl, they don't mean anything. She always plays with the spelling of words. It's probably because she doesn't know how to spell. I think it's more to do with being "edgy".

What caused the returns of SOY? Ridiculous. I'd guess we're starting to get the year end boosts when they do their countdowns of 2017? The way it seems to work is that right after Christmas, radio stations do their year-end countdowns which in turn leads to increased sales and streaming of the songs that get played. The year-end Hot 100 being revealed might have a relatively minor effect since mostly us chart followers seem to care about it right now.

LOVE. top 10 on radio holy s**t It's pretty low for a song at #10 overall tbh For curiosity's sake, I took a look over some AI data from the past few years to make a comparison to see where the current #1 (167.1M), #5 (127.5M) and #10 (78.5M) would place in recent years. Dec 10, 2016#1 Closer 177.5M #2 Starboy 161.1M (Havana) #5 Don't Wanna Know 149.8M #7 Scars to Your Beautiful 121.6M (What Lovers Do) #10 Unsteady 89.8M #13 Cheap Thrills 77.4M (LOVE.) Dec 10, 2015#1 Hello 214.3M #2 Hotline Bling 165.6M (Havana) #5 Stitches 133M #6 Ex's and Oh's 126.6M (What Lovers Do) #10 On My Mind 111.1M #13 In the Night 76.6M (LOVE.) Dec 10, 2014#1 Animals 171.3M #2 Blank Space 166.6M (Havana) #5 Waves 117.7M (What Lovers Do) #10 Jealous 93.6M #12 All About That Bass 78.3M (LOVE.) TL;DR It's not only LOVE. that feels lower than normal. Overall AI seems to be weaker in 2017 than in previous years, at least from what I can tell off these samples. The only song that'd be able to match its position correctly is What Lovers Do with 2014 numbers.

Actually, for the 1990s they also compiled it based on chart performance (this is the only way One Sweet Day could rank above the Macarena, because in the 1996 year-end list, which was based on cumulative points, the reverse occurred). The positions differed from the all-time lists because they used a slightly different formula. As for how they'll compile the 2010s decade-end list, they'll probably use an inverse point/chart-performance based system as well and give slightly more weight to the early 2010s, but they also might apply the 25/52 week rule to those songs as well - I don't see how it would be fair to not do that.

#6 Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes (=) (I can't believe this is doing so well, it feels like such a non event..) Sure, but it's still top 10 at iTunes, is near the top 10 at Spotify, and has top 10 airplay overall.

Mariah back @ #11. That's awesome after so many years! One spot high would be much better. Ha. It should be able to pass "What Lovers Do" and "Bodak Yellow" next week since they're on the decline. So, as long as 2 other songs don't pass it...
