Why would Bocelli get an official credit when remixes for songs like "Unforgettable" and "Havana" didn't get the guest artist a credit? It comes down to numbers and ratios, and I suspect things have changed since streaming came into play. If a version of the song that includes another artist is a significant source of points for the week, then they credit that artist(s). In this case, both the Beyonce and Andrea Bocelli versions are selling well enough to give both credit next week. It looks like Beyonce remained credited this week despite a sales dip (although still top 10) with the duet's strong streaming numbers, and it looks like it's still doing really well there. I don't have figures in front of me, but I can only assume that the remixes you mentioned didn't contribute enough points to warrant credit. I personally can't recall a situation since streaming happened where a 2nd version of a song did this well in both sales and streaming without the artist getting credit. It's hard for me to have a problem with Beyonce getting credit for a 2nd week when it's still top 10 on both iTunes and Spotify. (Currently, Voice songs have invaded the top 10, pushing it down to #18, yet remains green.) Does that mean there is a certain contribution % that determines credit?

once credit is given, it stays. I’m not sure when billboard made that the rule, but you can look at past charts and see that they’ve retroactively given Britney credit on weeks following the remix.

However I don't think we know what it is or what the overall criteria is at this point. I personally feel like this, generally speaking: If one version of a song has enough points to chart on the Hot 100 by itself, and it fits within the criteria for being the same song, the additional artist(s) credit should be added to the main version.

I can just see the comments on tomorrow's TheTesteeTop50 upload. "I just started the video and it started with 6ix9ine?! Smh America making no talent rappers famous 🤦♂️" hmmm, are you that trilogy trilogy trilogy guy on youtube Well, yeah. We talked about how a 5-week number 1 that would drop out the next week wouldn't get far into the YE, right?

It only took 2.5+ years since the release date change. I never understood the logic of 'print' aka newsstand date in this era. 2.5 years? Try 80, or however long Billboard has been publishing music charts! This makes more sense to have the date closer to the tracking week, but here's a wild idea, why not have the date be during the actual tracking week?! So for the data that's being tracked mostly during this calendar week, the chart date could be Dec. 23. I guess to assign a date to a chart/magazine that has already passed is not forward looking or markety enough?

It's no different than monthly magazines putting out their December issue in November. Other weekly magazines also date issues ahead. It's so when people go to buy them on shelves, it doesn't look outdated. Hell, the car industry do it, too; usually you'd be a 2018 car in 2017, for instance.

However, nothing prevented them from having chart dates. For example, charts could state from week ending and the actual date of the end of chart gathering and a different issue date for the newsstand. It's hard to believe it was the industry bible and I bet the other pubs - Cashbox/R&R regret not getting the AT40 gig. Billboard owes Casey Kasem eternal thanks.

I still am dumbfounded why they didn't align airplay tracking with sales and streaming. Something to do with sales and streaming needing to have a buffer period to collect all of the data versus airplay being immediately available, and Billboard wants their charts to use the most up-to-date data available. Far be it for me to understand why airplay is readily available, but sales and streaming are not. Shouldn't they be? As far as I can tell, all outlets have their data ready next day like airplay.

I believe "On Bended Knee" was num.1 the last week of 1994 and before that it was "Here Comes The Hot Stepper. Both songs were pretty big at the time. If "AIWFCIY" only reached num.12 in airplay even if it had num.1 sales for the week it could have still only peaked in the Top 3-5 area. We would probably have to see the other songs airplay to sales ratio I guess.

^Knowing Mariah's interest in her chart legacy, I feel like she may look at having some kind of all-out blitz next year to try to make it #1. I bet she wants to beat that Beatles record badly. Maybe in the past, but I'm not so sure about that now. I think she's content with her legacy as the solo artist with the most #1 hits (Rihanna, stay away!), and is no longer so thirsty to rack up more #1 hits. Of course, I could be wrong.

At this point, I think MC would be happy to get a Top 40 hit again and a critically acclaimed album. I'm pretty sure she's realistic of what she can achieve on the charts at this point in her career. Thanks to AIWFCIY, she'll never disappear.

Whether she is or she isn't, she is 47. Top 10 hits have been coming on and off for 27 years. You can count the #1 hits on one hand of people that old and that have been around that long.

^The fact that she's tweeting for people to stream the song is a sign to me she is still interested in hits.
AIWFCIY's top ten entry may have sparked some hope in her that she's not done yet with the chart feats yet.

If mariah was super thirsty for #1 hits she would pull a Nicki Minaj and jump on every hot feature but i think she would rather have it happen the way she wants it to happen. Like said above, she has being doing this for 3 decades and is almost 50, she aint getting a solo #1 hit (unless a miracle)
