What?
The Huey songs were an inevitability, and I'm surprised "Legs" made it as far as it did...but how on Earth is "You Might Think" out this early?

I will never understand how something as corny as IJCTSILY won an Oscar.

Iβm going to choose to see the glass half full: at least my #100, I Just Called To Say Iβm The Worst Song To Ever Win an Oscar is out.
No Huey song in the top 50 is a travesty. Now, you will gave to deal with certain Dr about that Cars elimination.

What??? I'm very shock that Stevie Wonder's song is out so soon. That's like one of his best songs ever!

The Billy Joel, Huey Lewis, and Cars songs were robbed. "Automatic" should have done a bit better too.
I also have a soft spot for IJCTSILY, but I'm not shocked it's out early.

I think I over-ranked the Pointer Sisters.

62. The Cars - You Might ThinkThis is a complete outrage. First Ratt, and now the Cars. What is there not to love? The crafty lyrical rhymes of Ric Ocasek? Everyone has forgotten how to have fun. . You bring back the 80's style of music ,and you could do away with half the violence in the world.

I have to say ; this is the most pitiful group of reveals yet.
#70. I Just Called To Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder Stevie Wonder can be cool when he wants to be. Superstition", but this had sapppy oozing from all sides. I couldn't take it.
#69. The Heart Of Rock & Roll - Huey Lewis and the News I've confirmed my biggest fear. This bunch here is scared of Rock N Roll. Even the word makes everyone take cover.
#68. Miss Me Blind - Culture Club Great song. Straight from the New Wave vibe, but with a little somthning different to add a little flavor to 80's music. I can imagine what you all would have done with "It's A Miracle" ?
#67. If This Is It - Huey Lewis and the News Dreadful slot for this song. At least I can take honors of being it's highest ranker.
#61. Head Over Heals- The Go-Go's Not even the Go-Go's are safe with this bunch.

62. The Cars - You Might ThinkThis is a complete outrage. First Ratt, and now the Cars. . Doc Indie Party Rock has left the building. I don't hate that song, but I was never a big fan of it either. Don't worry, I've given their other two songs proper respect. Truth is, 1984 was such a good music year that I even enjoy songs I've ranked all the way down in the 70s. The only ones I dislike are my bottom 15.

With these reveals I managed to lose my bottom 20 --but I also lost my first top 40. In any case, starting at around #70 it was very hard for me to rank songs, as I really like the songs!
70. I Just Called To Say I Love You (49): A personal chart-topper, a song my mom and I loved. Yes, it's saccharine, but it's also super tender, melodic, sing-a-longy. Maybe some Latinos are more into this type of ballads :) 69. The Heart of Rock'N Roll (73): This has always been just good, but a bit bland, which is just my overall feeling toward Huey Lewis & the News' music, except for Power of Love and Stuck with You. 68. Miss Me Blind (56): I really like this one from CC. I think the instrumental, especially in the bridge, is so much fun and rich in terms of vibes and genres. One of my favorites from them --a runner-up in my personal chart. 67. If This Is It (90): Well, this just felt a bit too retro for me, in a style I'm not too fond of (whereas I dig Billy Joel's retro style better) 66. Automatic (70): I'm one of those people who thought that this song had an uncredited male vocalist. Actually, only a few years ago I learned that it was one of the sisters singing :o I've liked this song since I first heard it, so I was sad that I had to rank it at #70. It's just that I felt other songs were a bit more interesting -and I like other Pointer Sisters better. 65. Legs (36): A big favorite of the 1980s for me. I love the music and the attitude of ZZ Top --plus the video is an 80s classic that brings back lots of memories. 64. I Want A New Drug (83): Sorry, Huey, but yeah I wasn't the biggest fan of your songs this year, 63. Say It Isn't So (45): Strong song from Hall & Oates. I really like how it goes from soft in the verses to euphoric in the chorus. 62. You Might Think (67): Really fun song, that I still use a lot in long road trips --although Tonight She Comes is just a bit more of a favorite for road trips :) In the end, this year I liked their other two songs better. 61. Head Over Heels (62): My favorite from Go-Gos will always be Vacation (yeah!), but this is another strong song from them that was very popular in 1984 back home.

After that kick to the balls you all gave me, let me try to soothe my pain in another way. Continuing with #70-61 of my own personal rankdown. I feel the 80's were the best era of music, because of the amount of music we were given each year. Sometimes the songs only spent a few weeks in the top 40, but it still gave us much more variety to listen to. I've always had a soft spot for the one hit wonders. especially their underrated singles. 61. She Don't Know Me - Bon Jovi (7) (B48) This was the second single of Bon Jovi's debut album. This is the first Powerballad I heard from them, so it holds a special place in my heart. www.youtube.com/watch?v=omLgJe9cnCw62. What Is Love? - Howard Jones (6) (B33) Things Only got better for Howard Jones as the 80's raced on. How this peaked at #33 on Hot 100 is beyond me. At the same time this went all the way to #2 in the U.K. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w34vnz_LEX463. Catch Me I'm Falling - Real Life
(6) (B40) 1984 was probably one of the strongest years for British New wave. Side from Metal; this was the style I also loved. This was the second release to follow the classic "Send Me An Angel" and it also became a top 40 hit. The record lables gave much more creative freedom to bands in the 80's. As you can see none of these songs sounded the same. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeysVlyC_us64. One In A Million - Romantics (7) (B37) The third single off "In Heat". They never quite lived up to the "Talking In Your Sleep" success. I always considered this band a toned down version of the Stray Cats. They had that 50's look but with a more refined Pop rock sound. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGAV8wvYdVI65. The Ghost In You - The Psychedelic Furs (7) (B59) A gorgeous underrated new Wave ballad. This British band never really broke out in The U.S. until "Heartbreak Beat". It's a shame because , Richard Butler, had one of the best British accents when he sang. It truly shines as he delivers the chorus in this song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T87u5yuUVi866. Run Runaway - Slade (5) (B20) If it hadn't been for Quiet Riot covering "Cum On Feel The Noize" we would have never gotten to Slade in the top 40. I always loved the marriage of Violins and Guitars in this song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikMiQZF-mAY67. ? 68. Rock Me Tonite - Billy Squier (7) (B15) Now you all know where I put Billy Squier compared to the crappy slot it got on our rankdown. BTW, I loved the fingersnaps in the intro. As opposed how much I dislike them in modern music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZvl2aqIyNg69. Doctor! Doctor! - Thompson Twins (8) (B11) The second single off "Into the Gap" A great ,melodic, New Wave ballad ,style song, they were known for. This one just missed the Hot 100 top 10. www.youtube.com/watch?v=APyl6Cnbfzw70. Legs - ZZ Top
(8) (B8) Well you guys ranked this higher than me, but i still love it. The guitar action on this song is fierce. I've learnd to appreciate "Sharped Dressed Man" as a better song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUDcTLaWJuo

I donβt remember She Donβt Know Me, but Runaway was a personal chart-topper back in 1984. Love that one! I do remember What is Love and Doctor Doctor. I like βem but prefer several other singles from both artists. Werenβt big hits in my personal chart One in a million was a big hit :) and just like Talking in your Sleep I come back to it often I heard Ghost in You only in early 2000s when I tried to discover 1980s songs that hadnβt been heard back home. Like the voice and overall nostalgic vibe of it.
YES! Run Runaway was one of my favorite songs of this year. A two-week number one in my personal chart, and a song that was quite popular back home. I remember liking the extended version a lot, too.

"What Is Love?," "The Ghost In You," "Run Runaway" and "Doctor! Doctor!" are all great songs. Other songs I love from 1984 that aren't on this rankdown:

Now that I've recovered from yesterday's terrible reveal, I'm moving on to 60-51 today...starting off with the lowest ranked song that placed inside the Billboard Top 10 of 1984...
