What do you all think of Too Much? It’s my favorite of the 5! Finally one that I really relate to, besides NTIFY! I love the production. Here’s my ranking for the 5 songs released so far: 5. Party For One (love the video, but the song is not really for me.) 4. Julien (catchy, especially that funky breakdown in the chorus, but not relatable because who tf is Julien?) 3. No Drug Like Me (the All That of Dedicated, definitely a mood.) 2. Now That I Found You (Bop and a half, plus that video was everything I’ve ever needed and more.) 1. Too Much (all I’ve ever needed from a CRJ song. It me!)

1) Too Much (New favorite Carly song. The production is so well executed and her vocals sound great. 2) Now That I Found You (Mostly the video's impact, but it's also such a fun upbeat song and I need that from her.) 3) Julien (Fun unique song.) 4) No Drug Like Me (I didn't like this that much at first, but it grew on me a ton) 5) Party For One (I love it, but it aged)

Not a single song I don't like, wow.
Loving "I'll Be Your Girl", "Happy Not Knowing", "The Sound" (that piano instrumental is to die for), "Right Words Wrong Time", and "Real Love" right now.

Solid album, she never disappoints. It doesn't have an instant classic like Run away With Me but it is full of gems. The production is sick, and this is only the first listen. It is the perfect follow up to Emotion.
Too Much and especially Real Love are the ones with the most potential to be a hit IMO.

Halfway in. Agree with many that this doesn't match the highs of EMOTION but it's still solid so far. From the first half, Julian, No Drug Like Me and Want you in My Room are the highlights. She can keep Now That I Found You. Everything He Needs sounds like a Passion Pit song, slightly dated. Jack A really killed it with Want You In My Room...what kinda 80s Madonna True Blue?? Why doesn't it last longer past the sax solo???

I can agree that it doesn't have the outright highs of her previous album, but it's just a far more relaxed listen than EMOTION. As flawless as that album was, you could hear every bit of work that went into it. This experience is a little more low-key. Also, 15 tracks and I don't come close to disliking a single one, which is a feat unto itself.
My immediate favs in no particular order:
Too Much - Should have been the first single. Pretty much perfection. Everything He Needs - I was so nervous when I heard about the Popeye interpolation, but this works. Feels Right - I thought that was Adam Levine for a second. But what kind of summery bop? Julien - This is still screaming for a damn bridge, but I just love the chorus. I also have a strange thing for songs based around people's names. Want You In My Room - I feel like she already hit this note on her last album (WINY immediately came to mind), but hell, it was good note, why not hit it again? For Sure - Low-key stunner. She sounds so good on this. And the production, how it slowly builds and turns tribal at the end, where the f**k did that come from? Delightfully random. I'll Be Your Girl - Carly does ska, okay... why the hell not? Love the bridge.

Automatically in Love is THAT bop.
It seems like fans of Carly are saying, "This is so great, but it's not E-Mo-Tion," while non-fans giving curiosity spins (in my circles, anyway), are saying, "Wait, I actually love this album?"

Just listened to the album, and it’s a stunning piece of work. Immaculately produced. Very slick. But that’s not always good thing. There are glimpses of vulnerability on songs like “The Sound,” “Right Words Wrong Time” and “Real Love,” and I feel like I needed more of those little breaks from the effervescent pop that is the majority of the record. It sounds very different from E MO TION, which I'm happy about because "Party of One" sounds like a leftover from that album, and I was afraid she'd just be hitting all the same beats on Dedicated.
Highlights: Julien, No Drug Like Me, Now that I Found You, Too Much, The Sound, Right Words Wrong Time, Real Love
tl;dr: Love the album, but I wish CRJ showed a little more vulnerability instead of a putting up a sonic wall of synths for the majority of the record.

I haven’t listened to this yet (but the weekend is just about to start!!) but that was something about Emotion that struck me before I got into it much was how it seemed to lack a lot of...anything that let us into who she is as a person. It wasn’t personal, which is fine, except it also felt anonymous (to me) at the time. But it has since kind of become her sound so now I don’t feel the same about her. It also took me like 6 or 7 listens before the album hit me - which is more chances than I usually give. I have high hopes for this one but I’m also expecting it to not be super immediate. Carly seems to be a very seasonal artist for me. I actually don’t enjoy Emotion when it’s not steaming hot and sunny outside....

It's no E-MO-TION but I wasn't expecting it to be. A truly solid effort and I'm excited to see how it grows with me.
Straight away love 'Want You In My Room' and 'Happy Not Knowing'. Also really enjoying 'The Sound', 'Feels Right' and 'For Sure' (<--- I will LOVE this one soon)

She ranked her songs to BuzzFeed. {Spoiler}I understand that "Too Much" is her recent single and she needs to promote her latest album, but... really?!? As soon as she picked "Fever" over "Cry," I was like NOPE. But I'm sure her relationship with her own music is very different than our relationship with it. I'll give her a pass because I'm feeling generous today.

I prefer Fever over Cry so much and LOVE that she performs and prefers that song live. I live in NYC by the piers in Brooklyn and have cried hearing the lines “and my lights stay up, but your city sleeps, it’s a different world when you’re not here with me.”

The album is good, there's a lot of keepers and I'm a happy fan, I'll just need to listen to it more times to adore it. The previous album left me overwhelmed upon first listen and I couldn't believe I had discovered a current artist who does the old-school pop that I'm a sucker for as brilliantly as Carly does, so yeah E·MO·TION's follow-up was always going to have some big shoes to fill.
I love "Now That I Found You," "Want You In My Room," "Too Much," "Right Words Wrong Time," "Everything He Needs" as of now.

I'm really stuck on "Right Words Wrong Time" at the moment. That chorus. It's like a more polished version of "Inside Out" by Britney.

As some of you have already stated, this isn't E•MO•TION and I think Carly Rae pulled the bar really high with that album, but Dedicated is really good on its own though. I don't think there's not any bad song in this album and it's enjoyable from the beginning until the end. It's hard to pick my favourites and I guess they are going to change throughout the more I listen to Dedicated, but I'm going with "Want You In My Room", "Happy Not Knowing", "Automatically In Love", "Right Words Wrong Time" and "For Sure" for now.

After finally listening today, I think I can articulate why everyone says it’s “Not Emotion”:
You can tell the album has a different intent than Emotion. This album is about the arc of a relationship. It’s not per se about making the biggest pop bangers possible, although there are plenty of jams here. Emotion is like the Carly Rae version of Katy’s Teenage Dream: it’s meant to be a collection of really strong songs that are radio friendly but also high quality pop songs. Dedicated has more intellectual intent aligned with its artistry; it’s a work that examines and explores.
My highlights are:
Automatically In Love: WOW. What a BANGER. Bop bop bop.
Real Love: Another WOW. The plodding. The ticking. The vulnerability. The dance chorus. Her vocals. I can honestly say I FELT this; she broke my heart here.
No Drug Like Me: This has to be one of her best songs. It’s fantastic. This song itself is better than most of Emotion, I think.
Feels Right: Also a jam.
The Sound: Gorgeous.
Julian: Perfect album opener. So catchy, and really sets the vibe of the record
Now That I Found You: In the context of the album, I’m actually really happy this exists. It’s more of a layup for her — she can easily pull off this kind of Emotion-level bop. But the album is thematically very heavy, and it’s nice to just have this breezy upbeat simple ham.

#HotTake. I wound up officially downloading Party Of One and For Sure. Kinda funny that the Target version is just the iTunes standard version, though. Anyway, overall, this is actually an improvement over Emotion and I LOVED that album. I like how she has really worked on perfecting the mid-tempos. While she is still kinda bubblegum pop, there are a lot more layers and overall better production. 1. Too Much (the best song on the album. If I Don't Care can smash, this sure as f**k can. I may like this even more than Gimmie Love, which was my favorite song of hers until now. f**k it, yeah, this is better than Gimmie Love.) 2. Right Words Wrong Time (really had a hard time here...wound up tying for first place but holy f**k, this is my go-to aesthetic, so I STAN. PERFECT production, PERFECT vocal delivery...everything about this is flawless.) 3. No Drug Like Me (flawless and sexy) 4. Party For One 5. Automatically In Love 6. The Sound 7. I'll Be Your Girl 8. Julien 9. For Sure 10. Happy Not Knowing 11. Now That I Found You 12. Want You In My Room 13. Real Love 14. Everything He Needs 15. Feels Right There are no bad songs on this album, at all, which is an accomplishment, in and of itself. Now That I Found You really grew on me. Tracks #1-10 represent a flawless album. #11 could be an iTunes bonus track. #12-14 for Target and #15 Japan. A- effort, overall. Edit: @ me saying "Gimmie More" instead of "Gimmie Love". Britney's impact.

Good God! This is a really good album, from beginning to end, I did not want to skip one song. She really knows how to make really good pop music. It's a shame people only got to know Call Me Maybe from her, cause she's evolved so much from that.

Julien Now That I Found You Want You in My Room I’ll Be Your Girl Too Much Automatically in Love Feels Right For Sure Party for One
My favorites after 2 listens through. It kinda blended together to me in parts but I echo the sentiment that there’s no bad songs.

Really enjoying the album and while it had to have been a nearly impossible task to reach the levels of Emotion (and Emotion: Side B) I feel Jepsen gets very close here. She expands on those two albums' high points (though doesn't necessarily best them) and adds in some new elements to her music ("I'll Be Your Girl" most especially).
Standouts:
No Drug Like Me Now That I Found You Want You In My Room Everything He Needs Happy Not Knowing I'll Be Your Girl Too Much The Sound Automatically In Love Feels Right Right Words Wrong Time Real Love
Having heard the album in full, either "Too Much" or "Want You In My Room" may have been better leads than "Party For One," a song I do enjoy but I find those other two are more interesting.
Solid 4/5 album for me.

Not like she is getting radio play anyway, but I cannot imagine the claustrophobic cacophony of Want You In My Room on any radio station. Too Much or Right Words Wrong Time, however, are radio gold and on trend.
