One thing I forgot to mention but every song in the Top 4 spent time at #1 at some point or another.

ugh "Blame It On Your Heart" should have won! What an incredibly catchy tune! Such a jam.
I am still stunned that "On Your Way Home" is so loved. It's really good, for sure, but it doesn't really go anywhere IMO.

and there you have it! "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" actually spent the majority of the submission period at #1! Lost the #1 for a couple rounds near the end and regained #1 with the last submission. Absolutely crazy the way that played out!
Thank you to everyone for participating and following along! Hope you will all join me when I do the album series for her. May start that sometime this summer!

.... wow this is incredibly disappointing :-( I like it but it's definitely one of her weaker tunes for me! The melody isn't strong at all and it doesn't even really flow that well. The instrumentation also does very little for me. Good song, not great, and me ranking it as high as I did might have been me being generous lol. But thanks for hosting castleoblivion26 you did a wonderful job per your usual!

Oh my god I am gagged!! That was a wild top 5. Blame It On Your Heart is such a bop. Glad that On Your Way Home was so high. Thanks for hosting!! ~~

Shocked by the winner because I was fairly confident "Blame It on Your Heart" would win this, but I'm more than okay with "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" as well. Everything I find lacking in "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye," is done expertly well in that song. Same goes for "On Your Way Home." Now those are two Patty Loveless ballads that move the needle for me. All of the songs in the Top 4 were fantastic tbh. <33

I feel so proud to have knocked "Blame It On Your Heart" from #1. I like it fine enough and it's a great single, but in no way does it represent the best of Patty Loveless for me.
Thanks castleoblivion26!

Wow didn't see that winning I'm really happy it did and was an unexpected winner for once!
Just wish "You Can Feel Bad" could've made the top but #2 is great too.

Sorry I wasn't around to comment on the top 5! Overall I am thrilled with how everything turned out! All 5 songs that made the top 5 are amazing, and I am very happy with how the order turned out as well. "I Try To Think About Elvis" is such a fun song, and I love the attitude that Patty puts into her vocals. I even love how she talks to herself at the beginning and in the bridge. It could have been really cheesy, but I think she made it work. "On Your Way Home" is one that I cannot believe lasted so long, but I am by no means complaining! The melody is so pleasing throughout the whole song, and the lyrical strength elevates it even further. I think I also remember hearing this song on CMT back in the day, because it sounds very familiar (and not just because I just ranked it recently for the 2006 RD). "Blame It On Your Heart" is incredible, and by every account deserves all the hype and acclaim that it receives. That being said, I am thrilled to see it miss the top! I thought this finishing at #1 was a foregone conclusion, so to see it kick off the top 3 makes the finish so much more exciting!!!! "You Can Feel Bad" was my favorite discovery of the RD. This song is unbelievably catchy, and that hooky title gets under your skin and won't let you go. "You can feel bad if it makes you feel better" is one of the strongest lyrical paradoxes I have ever heard, tbh... Lol My only disappointment with the top 5 is that I would have liked to see this at #1. However, "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" is a very deserving winner as well! Such strong lyrics portraying a couple that is falling apart, and the bitterness between both sides is palpable. I love a ballad with subdued verses and big emotional choruses, and this is definitely the best song to fit that bill out of Patty's catalog Also castleoblivion26, I am glad for your sake that you get to see this song get proper justice after you saw it come so close in the Favorite Female Artists RD!! I am still glad that Sara's song won that RD, but getting to add Patty's song to the list of Country rankdown winners now feels very right Thank you for hosting this! Patty has been one of my favorite artists to discover since the rankdown trends started! I can't believe what I have been missing all these years.

Since you don't seem overly familiar with Patty's catalog, I'd like to suggest another ballad somewhat in the mold of "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" in that it's about a couple falling apart (and gives both perspectives) and that has a big chorus:

Patty has been one of my favorite artists to discover since the rankdown trends started! I can't believe what I have been missing all these years. I was so excited when I saw "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" remain at #1 and then I thought the same thing was gonna happen again right at the end until I got that last ranking and it jumped back to #1. I was the only one to rank it at #1 but most ranked it high and that made me very happy! Definitely made up for it just barely missing #1 in my Favorite Female Artist RD. So glad I did this one because it seems a lot of you discovered her more and honestly I discovered her more than I ever did before because I hadn't spent a lot of time listening to her 80's stuff all that much and I now listen to them all the time. The playlist for this rankdown has probably been my most played RD playlist ever. I don't dislike a single song on it. I cannot wait to do the Album series just so I can discover more incredible songs from her that I have probably missed and hopefully everyone joins me for that one when the time comes!

I'm more than thrilled to see "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" and "You Can Feel Bad" take the top two spots!! Both of those songs are classics of Patty's and I never get tired of them. Thanks again for your hosting duties castleoblivion26!
