^Indeed- under Nielsen/BDS, that Bryan Adams song may have reigned as long as "I Will Always Love You." That's why it's important to weight eras differently in regard to all-time lists.

The fact that Like a prayer didn’t even make the yearend top 10 was a blasphemy... especially for a year like 1989. Ugh

Juanca- "Like a Prayer" was No. 1 on the year-end CashBox singles chart. And it was No. 10 on Radio & Records' year-end survey.
Once again, Hot 100 and its related year-end charts doesn't always give the full picture. :) On that note, though, when Billboard published its Top 500 of the '80s, LAP was ranked No. 100 (eighth among 1989 tracks)- compiled via its current all-time methodology.

I was wondering if someone can answer a question about the Something to Remember era? One of the first Madonna CDs I owned as a kid was this compilation, and it’s the one with the clear case and the track listing/barcode on the CD itself. Does anyone know why they released it that way? I know later editions had a back insert with another photo of her in white. Not sure, as I think you are describing the version I had as well. The CD case was clear with no back cover art and you could see the CD in the case. I think in the next pressing of the album they inserted the back cover art. No idea why they did that, maybe the artwork wasn't ready and they needed to rush it out. Could also be a regional thing? Sometimes artwork does change by region. For example, in the U.S. , the True Blue album had just her image on it. In Europe it was the same picture but had her name and the album title on it, because they felt that she was not as famous globally yet and they wanted her name on it. update: This is from a site (borderline music) selling Something to Remember: First pressing -- Includes cover / booklet and no back art - the CD plays as the back art - Madonna wanted no image of herself on the back stating she wanted the music to speak for itself. CD art is limited / second pressing includes back art and different CD art. I remember something similar with the Cher album "Heart of Stone." The original cover had an image of Cher sitting next to a heart shaped stone (if you looked at it the right way, it also looked like a skull). Then in the second pressing they changed the artwork to a basic picture of Cher with the album title on it. It wasn't even a regional difference thing, they were both the U.S. issue. Thanks August for all the info!

Thanks for the info! I didn’t know this. Back one we just saw the hot 100 as THE official US chart, so... Our #1 pop station took this to the top and was a big hit there The #2 (or 3?) “only” took it to #6 and I was SO PISSED. When I saw that it was slowing down I started to call that station every day to request the song, but of course didn’t make much difference

OMG, this is terrible, hope they'll handle it asap. From Page Six. Law firm hackers shift ransom target from Trump to Madonna
The hackers who stole confidential files about stars including Lady Gaga from an A-list power lawyer claim to have sold all their “dirty laundry” on President Donald Trump to a secret buyer, and now they’re demanding at least $1 million for details on Madonna. Hacking group REvil cyberattacked top entertainment attorney Allen Grubman’s NYC law firm and stole 756 gigabytes of documents on stars including Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey and U2. They doubled their ransom demand to $42 million last week after Grubman refused to pay, stating the FBI considered the hack “an act of terrorism.” The hackers upped the ante by posting on the dark Web, “The next person we’ll be publishing is Donald Trump … We found a ton of dirty laundry.” It was not clear why the hackers connected Grubman to Trump, who has never been a client of the lawyer’s firm. Then on Monday, REvil revealed the Trump documents were off the market, stating, “Interested people contacted us and agreed to buy all the data about the US president …We are pleased with the deal and keep our word.” They added, “We are preparing to auction Madonna data … The buyer has the right to do whatever he sees fit with the data.”It is not known what was in the alleged Trump trove, but sources who viewed a sample on the hackers’ site said it related to snarky mentions of Trump in e-mails from Grubman’s clientele. Brett Callow, from cybersecurity firm Emsisoft, told Page Six, “What information REvil had on Trump we may likely never know. But they were almost certainly bluffing about it being ‘presidency-ending material.’ But let’s assume this is being treated as a terrorist matter, perhaps because of Trump, so the law firm was prevented from paying the ransom or negotiating. link“The hackers were also prevented from making any money, so they went to Plan B, removing Trump from the deal and instead auctioning off the celebs’ information separately.”

Yes, "Inside of Me" was written about her mother. But as with some m songs, innuendo and alternate interpretations abound.

Listening to I'm Breathless album in honor of its 30th anniversary. The last time i listened to it was probably 20-25 years ago and i can say it aged fine, sounds good.

IB is a fun concept album. Aside from "Vogue," my favorites are "Sooner or Later," "Something to Remember" and "More."

Getting close to the anniversary of the release of Madame X. So almost a year after, how do you now consider this album among all her albums. One of your favorites? One of the best? Indifferent?

Getting close to the anniversary of the release of Madame X. So almost a year after, how do you now consider this album among all her albums. One of your favorites? One of the best? Indifferent? Indifferent. I can't say I will really go back to it much. I've been supporting the whole "get it to 150 million streams by the anniversary " so been listening daily. But once that happens, like I said wont neccesarily go back to it, but if I have Spotify on Madonna shuffle and the tracks come on I won't skip them.
