I don't think long break is the main reason for Gaga or Katy, they are not Lorde, Carly Rae or Taio Cruz who had one or two big hits before the break. Just look at Cardi B, 10 songs in 4 months or Bebe Rexha and Dua Lipa.

Well, the only thing that Adele had dropped between 21 and Hello, to my recollection unless I'm missing something, was the James Bond single Skyfall. And yet Hello had the biggest week at #1 in I think the entire century. Bruno Mars, on the other hand, certainly still had some momentum from Uptown Funk, which allowed 24K Magic, and more importantly That's What I Like, to succeed. But how do you think that Adele and Bruno managed to still keep success, while Katy and Gaga didn't? Adele's audience is way older than most Pop stars. If you're music's aimed at 35 year olds, then a 4 year break would mean they were 31. If you're music's aimed at 20 year olds, then a 4 week break means they were 16. Know what I mean? As for Bruno, I think Uptown Funk was a huge help. Made it seem like he barely took a break at all.

Holy f**k. Its third day on Spotify now holds the record for biggest single day on US Spotify becoming only the second song to break 4 million in a day. HUMBLE. on DAMN's release day was the first. King of Streaming

A Drake and Cardi collab would honestly obliterate Spotify

Great times on chart: Havana was #1 last week, Drake gets this week and Finesse's Grammy boost might be enough for #1 next week Edit: Obviously Mother Monster delivers a stunning performance of Million Reasons and s effortlessly steals everyone thunder

Does Drake really have #1 in the bag? His Spotify seems to be on par with HUMBLE’s big week, though I don’t think he has as much youtube. The sales numbers aren’t too far off from each other, with God’s Plan leading there. They both had crap for radio, so that’s a non-factor. If I recall, HUMBLE just barely managed to squeeze out that week at #1.

It doesn’t matter how long you take between albums. It only matters you have a hit single or two off the album.

It'll be interesting to see often the Spotify one-day record gets beat/increased as streaming grows. We're certainly seeing the opposite happen with digital sales.

Also... Keke? Does this sixnine guy only name his songs after words that sound like baby talk Well, GUMMO was named after the Harmony Korine movie of the same name. KOODA, according to Genius, was named after his close friend Kooda B. Not sure about KEKE though

God's Plan fell only .05% on US Spotify today. Yes, you read that correctly. Another day at 4.3 million streams, making it the first song in history to spend two days over 4 million streams on US Spotify.
To put it in perspective, it received more streams in the past two days than any other song in the past week. It received more streams just yesterday than all but 23 other songs in the past week.
Jesus.

Time to finally listen to it
ETA: Very big eh. The lyrics are very boring, his vocals are annoying and the instrumental is just.. there. Was 1:02 to 1:26 really needed, and 2:18 to 2:41? I really hope this doesn't block the perfection that is Finesse *goes back to listening to Hold On We're Going Home*

The charming new-soul man. When he's good he's really good. His rap records, generally speaking, don't do much for me. I'm still in awe of his appeal and chart power, regardless. So massive.

Yeah I find it odd this song specifically is doing so well, though it could be from initial hype and the general growth of streaming.

Man, it's sure making for interesting chart movements, but will I ever warm up to how spotify/streaming is taking over!? Hoping New Rules doesn't get bumped out of the top 10.

He's been out of the spotlight for a while, and it's the catchier song out of the two. Remember how monstrous the More Life numbers were? This is the same but people are focusing on a single song.
Haven't heard the song yet, but I do agree that I usually enjoy Take Care/Passionfruit Drake more over Summer Sixteen/Portland Drake.

God's Plan is definitely debuting at #1 on Monday, though it's gonna be a little tricky to see what happens afterwards. Drake may keep #1 for a while if his streaming stays on this path, Havana is finished at the top, Perfect has peaked on radio and sales are going down so I don't see it going back to #1 but I wouldn't rule it out, and the other likely contender right now is Finesse which looks like it won't be #1 for a couple weeks but I believe it'll reach that point during Grammy week.
So here's my current prediction: 02/03: Drake 02/10: Drake/Perfect 02/17: Drake 02/24: Drake 03/03: Bruno 03/10-onwards: unknown

^^I'm confused, aren't the Grammys this very weekend? On the 28th? Why do you predict "Finesse" to only hit #1 in March, but cos of the Grammys still?

I guess it's because he thought it would be in the middle of February like it usually is not realizing that it's happening earlier than usual this time due to the Winter Olympics (which also happened with the 2010 and 2014 Grammys).

Ah, I see. I did find it odd too, that it was this soon. Hope this means "Finesse" goes to #1 right after "God's Plan", the very next week. Counting on it.

I realize he's got a crap ton of streams, but I guess I figure a lot of them are curiosity. There are millions of people who would stream his new song at least once, you know?

I realize he's got a crap ton of streams, but I guess I figure a lot of them are curiosity. There are millions of people who would stream his new song at least once, you know? Drake has always been a streaming giant and I think sales will definitely go way down after the first week but streams might stay steady for a while. One Dance also was a front-loaded release but while it's giant streams went down eventually it still held steady in the Top 2 on Spotify for months. I also expect radio to jump on board very soon which could also keep it a float. But I get what you're saying though, Taylor Swift also had a front-loaded release with Look What You Made Me Do which had huge streaming but it didn't stick obviously, but Drake is a streaming artist compared to Swift who's a sales artist. My point is Drake has always done incredibly well on streaming and the song has good reception so I expect it to stick around at the top for a while. Right now it's next biggest competition is Perfect, but that song is slowly dying. Airplay, sales, and streaming are down and I don't expect them to go back up.

Grammys are this Sunday so they will affect the week 2/10, correct? I'm confused with the cutoff dates.

Grammys are this Sunday so they will affect the week 2/10, correct? I'm confused with the cutoff dates. Oh yeah, I forgot. The Grammys usually take place in the second week of February so I thought it would of been 03/03, but it will affect the Hot 100 on 02/10. My mistake. So Bruno could be #1 soon then, but that depends on what happens to Drake during his second week. I guess we'll see.
