Something from my top 50 finally leaves and it's only my 47.
I wasn't familiar with this before, and it was a fun listen.

"Nightshift" was the first top 25 ranking I expected to lose. I did not expect to lose it this early. At least "We Built This City" is gone. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure, but it's a guilty pleasure for a reason.

I'm putting this rankdown on "ignore" until my bottom 20s start going out again

I remember this song not getting much love in the George Michael rankdown; I find it sad honestly.

The opening verse to this is incredible. the rest of the song doesn't match it, but it's still great. At other times, this would have been solidly in the top 20.

'70s Heart is infinitely better than '80s Heart.

Counting down 70-61 tomorrow...
Quick question: my plan was to move onto 1988 after this rankdown but now I'm wondering if ya'll think I should just do 1986 first? Then 1987? Then 1988?
1986 was pretty good for music, but that Top 5 is just ...

I would love a 1988 rankdown, but it does make sense doing the years in chronological order

I'm doing my year-end rankdowns chronoligically as well, but ultimately it's up to you.

I don't think the order matters that much.

I think what I'll do is stick to my original plan of 1988 next. I've received submissions for it already as well. Chronological doesn't make sense now anyhow since we still have to do 1980, 1981 and 1982. Eventually they'll all get done. Thanks for the feedback!

All three great years, but do the one when Glam Metal took the pop charts by storm first . Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Warrant, Winger, Whitesnake White Tiger etc...

Great group of songs. Quite a few made my own top 100 of 1985. The highest ranking being the Wham song. By default any Wham song should go top 40, just because George Michael does vocals.#80. Misled - Kool & The Gang (DOC Top 100 of 1985 #96) Great song. Up there with "Ladies Night" and "Get Down On It". Also one of my top hots of 1985. #79. Cherish - Kool & The Gang Scored myself a P-P-P-PERFECT Rank here. #78. Sugar Walls - Sheena Easton (DOC Top 100 of 1985 #36)Oh you guys suck. I thought Popsters liked dirty lyrics? Sheena was smokin' in this era. #77. We Built This City - Starship (DOC Top 100 of 1985 #78)I figured this wouldn't do so well. #76. Lonely 'Ol Night - John Cougar Mellencamp ( DOC Top 100 of 1985 #91)Among this group of songs, it barely misses my top 40, but back then I gave it a #91 slot for 1985. #75. Angel - Madonna (DOC top 100 of 1985 #48)This was the year I was Madonna nuts. I also charted 7 Madonna songs all in my top 50 of 1985. Including "Burning Up", which stayed on my chart for about a year. #74. Nightshift - CommodoresI don't recall getting into the Commodores vibe in my preteen years. #73. Freedom - Wham! (DOC Top 100 of 1985 #30)Oh you guys are duds. This is way too early for any Wham song to appear. WTF? ? #72. What About Love - HeartHonestly; I wasn't as much into femal Rock vibe as I am now a days. Had I been older in 1985; I would rank this higher. #71. Every Time You Go Away - Paul Young (DOC Top 100 of 1985#84)This is a great song. I learned to appreciate this one as I got older too. back then it didn't even make my Top 50 of 1985.

My own 80-71 looks a bit different so you can consider these from free bee 1985 extras. . Some of you might recall these 80's wonders. 80. Meeting In The Ladies Room - Klymaxx (BB #59) (DOC #11)I was surely into R&B but the kind with a funky groove. This one only peaked at #59 on Billboard. What a crime, cuz this was a jam. Gotta love that line. "Don't Slap me, cuz I'm not in the mood" 79. Small Town - John Cougar Mellencamp (BB #6) (DOC #10)This was the single that I dug from "Scarecrow". www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CVLVaBECuc78. We Built This City - Starship (BB #1) (DOC #7)77. Can You Help Me - Jesse Johnson Revue (BB HOT R&B #3) (DOC #12)Lead Guitarist for The Time, released his own solo material in 1984 full of fierce funk jams. www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_sfJHBdmuQ76. Burning Flame - Vitamin Z (BB #73) (DOC #10)English New Wave band with that One hit wonder in the States. I only came across them because of MTV. 75. Jamie - Ray Parker Jr. (BB #14) (DOC #7)This one was off his Chartbusters LP from 1984. 1985 was the year when I charted the most R&B on my charts. This is Ray Parker Jr. Performing the song on Solid Gold. No one gave a fuck about Lip syncing back then. We just wanted to listen to the songs. 74. The Search Is Over - Survivor (BB #4) (DOC #7)Here is where this AOR ballad came in on my top 100. 73. Pop Life - Prince (BB #7) (DOC #7)So many songs hit the top 10 in 1985, yet many didn't make the billboard Top 100. this one was also off "Around The World In A Day'. You all know youtube when it comes to Prince, so no MV. 72. Just A Gigalo - David Lee Roth (BB #12) (DOC #6)Second release off 'Crazy from the Heat" easily went into my top 10. this is the original 6:30 minute video as it aired on MTV years ago. question is? Who has a hairier chest Dave or Paul Stanley from Kiss? :kii: 71. Won't You Hold My Hand - King (U.K. #24) (DOC #8)King was a New Wave British band who had big sucess in the U.K. Don't know how popular they were in the states, but I caught their videos on MTV and immediately dug their music. The extended version is the version I charted,

One of my favourite albums, groups and vocals from the 80s. It would have been fun to see it rank higher. I'd be curious to see how the next 3 singles would fare in the 1986 rankdown.
