No charts tracking the rankings? Nope! That makes sense for album rankdowns and smaller rankdowns, but after doing it for the George Strait one I realized it is just too much work for a rankdown of this size. It takes me like 20 minutes to enter a single list, and then twice that if I want to track the position of each song after each list. That being said, had I known that nobody was going to submit for this rankdown I probably would have done the graphs Lol! The George Strait rankdown had literally a dozen new participants submit all at once on like the last possible minute, so I ended up being super behind and taking forever to get the data put together. But in this case the rankdowns trickled in slowly, with like one new one every 3 or 4 weeks, so I definitely would have tracked the progress if I had realized the flow was never going to pick up.

I never thought I'd be Wrapped in the words Of your sweet, sweet love. But here you are with me; This is what dreams are made of.

This song did better than I thought it would... Lol. This song is super catchy, but it does so in a way that is absolutely cringeworthy for whatever reason. Fittingly, nobody put this in their top half, and two people put it at #100, but it still had enough support in the 60s and 70s to save it from the bottom 5.

As we say goodbye to "Glad I Waited Just For You", her debut single ("I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand") is the only remaining song from this album.
I am pleased to see this song making it the second highest from the album, because it is understatedly catchy imo. The background vocals get stuck in my head all the time... Lol. I'm still glad to see it leaving so low, but it is by no means a bad song. {Songs Remaining} (You Lift Me) Up To Heaven And Still Back To God Because Of You Can’t Even Get The Blues Cathy’s Clown Consider Me Gone Cowgirls Don’t Cry Does He Love You Every Other Weekend Fallin’ Out Of Love Fancy For My Broken Heart Forever Love God And My Girlfriends Going Out Like That Have I Got A Deal For You He Broke Your Memory Last Night He Gets That From Me How Blue How Was I To Know I Don’t Think Love Oughta Be That Way I Don’t Want To Be A One Night Stand I Keep On Lovin’ You I Know How He Feels I’d Rather Ride Around With You I’ll Be I’m A Survivor I’m Gonna Take That Mountain I’m Not That Lonely Yet If I Were A Boy If You See Him, If You See Her Is There Life Out There It’s Your Call Just A Little Love Just Like Them Horses Last Night, Ev’ry Night Let The Music Lift You Up Little Girl Little Rock Love Needs A Holiday Love Will Find Its Way to You My Sister New Fool At An Old Game Oklahoma Swing On My Own One Honest Heart One Promise Too Late Only In My Mind Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands Rumor Has It Runaway Heart She Thinks His Name Was John Silent Night Softly And Tenderly Somebody Somebody Should Leave Somebody’s Chelsea Starting Over Again Strange Sunday Kind Of Love Sweet Dreams Sweet Music Man Take It Back The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Last One To Know The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia The Only Promise That Remains They Asked About You Til Love Comes Again Till You Love Me Today All Over Again Turn On The Radio Until They Don’t Love You Walk On We’re So Good Together What Am I Gonna Do About You What Do You Say What If What If It’s You When Love Gets A Hold Of You Whoever’s In New England Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can’t Have) Why Haven’t I Heard From You Wrong Night You Keep Me Hangin’ On You Lie You’re Gonna Be You’re The First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving

none of these eliminations are very memorable and definitely belong at the bottom. Definitely think there are other songs that deserve to be lower but I'm sure they are all coming soon

This song is just SO catchy, from beginning to end, and despite being dated actually sounds like a really good song. I have a feeling this would have been better received if it had come during her hit-making years. And while Reba's voice sounds so innocent and unpracticed in most of these older songs, I live for the way she sounds after the key change in this one!{Songs Remaining} (You Lift Me) Up To Heaven And Still Back To God Because Of You Can’t Even Get The Blues Cathy’s Clown Consider Me Gone Cowgirls Don’t Cry Does He Love You Every Other Weekend Fallin’ Out Of Love Fancy For My Broken Heart Forever Love God And My Girlfriends Going Out Like That Have I Got A Deal For You He Broke Your Memory Last Night He Gets That From Me How Blue How Was I To Know I Don’t Want To Be A One Night Stand I Keep On Lovin’ You I Know How He Feels I’d Rather Ride Around With You I’ll Be I’m A Survivor I’m Gonna Take That Mountain I’m Not That Lonely Yet If I Were A Boy If You See Him, If You See Her Is There Life Out There It’s Your Call Just A Little Love Just Like Them Horses Last Night, Ev’ry Night Let The Music Lift You Up Little Girl Little Rock Love Needs A Holiday Love Will Find Its Way to You My Sister New Fool At An Old Game Oklahoma Swing On My Own One Honest Heart One Promise Too Late Only In My Mind Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands Rumor Has It Runaway Heart She Thinks His Name Was John Silent Night Softly And Tenderly Somebody Somebody Should Leave Somebody’s Chelsea Starting Over Again Strange Sunday Kind Of Love Sweet Dreams Sweet Music Man Take It Back The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Last One To Know The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia The Only Promise That Remains They Asked About You Til Love Comes Again Till You Love Me Today All Over Again Turn On The Radio Until They Don’t Love You Walk On We’re So Good Together What Am I Gonna Do About You What Do You Say What If What If It’s You When Love Gets A Hold Of You Whoever’s In New England Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can’t Have) Why Haven’t I Heard From You Wrong Night You Keep Me Hangin’ On You Lie You’re Gonna Be You’re The First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving

Reba's performance here is way more confident than most of the stuff that has been revealed so far. You can definitely hear more of her signature vocal identity when you are listening to this. That album is now down to one single, the lead single "Last Night, Ev'ry Night". In fact, out of all of Reba's '70s material, we are down to 2 songs: the lead singles from each of her first two albums!"Sweet Dreams" is a Patsy Cline cover (well, the original writer/singer was Don Gibson), which would be way more exciting if it hadn't already been covered by literally everybody else in the history of life. Reba handles it masterfully despite her voice not having really established its identity yet, but the song itself just plain sounds like it was written in the '50s. It was basically already as old and tired by the time Reba got a hold of it as it is nowadays...{Songs Remaining} (You Lift Me) Up To Heaven And Still Back To God Because Of You Can’t Even Get The Blues Cathy’s Clown Consider Me Gone Cowgirls Don’t Cry Does He Love You Every Other Weekend Fallin’ Out Of Love Fancy For My Broken Heart Forever Love God And My Girlfriends Going Out Like That Have I Got A Deal For You He Gets That From Me How Blue How Was I To Know I Don’t Want To Be A One Night Stand I Keep On Lovin’ You I Know How He Feels I’d Rather Ride Around With You I’ll Be I’m A Survivor I’m Gonna Take That Mountain I’m Not That Lonely Yet If I Were A Boy If You See Him, If You See Her Is There Life Out There It’s Your Call Just A Little Love Just Like Them Horses Last Night, Ev’ry Night Let The Music Lift You Up Little Girl Little Rock Love Needs A Holiday Love Will Find Its Way to You My Sister New Fool At An Old Game Oklahoma Swing On My Own One Honest Heart One Promise Too Late Only In My Mind Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands Rumor Has It She Thinks His Name Was John Silent Night Softly And Tenderly Somebody Somebody Should Leave Somebody’s Chelsea Starting Over Again Strange Sunday Kind Of Love Sweet Music Man Take It Back The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Last One To Know The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia The Only Promise That Remains They Asked About You Til Love Comes Again Till You Love Me Today All Over Again Turn On The Radio Until They Don’t Love You Walk On We’re So Good Together What Am I Gonna Do About You What Do You Say What If What If It’s You When Love Gets A Hold Of You Whoever’s In New England Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can’t Have) Why Haven’t I Heard From You Wrong Night You Keep Me Hangin’ On You Lie You’re Gonna Be You’re The First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving

"I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand" was Reba's debut single, which absolutely flopped. It peaked at #88 on the U.S. Country chart. However, I definitely don't appreciate its status as a flop, because this is by far one of my favorite Reba offerings from the '70s. Her voice is so pretty on the verses, and the chorus has a singsongy nature that makes it stand out. This song is the full package! It's a shame radio slept on it, and tried to sleep on her as an artist.{Songs Remaining} (You Lift Me) Up To Heaven And Still Back To God Because Of You Can’t Even Get The Blues Cathy’s Clown Consider Me Gone Cowgirls Don’t Cry Does He Love You Every Other Weekend Fallin’ Out Of Love Fancy For My Broken Heart Forever Love God And My Girlfriends Going Out Like That Have I Got A Deal For You He Gets That From Me How Blue How Was I To Know I Keep On Lovin’ You I Know How He Feels I’d Rather Ride Around With You I’ll Be I’m A Survivor I’m Gonna Take That Mountain I’m Not That Lonely Yet If I Were A Boy If You See Him, If You See Her Is There Life Out There It’s Your Call Just A Little Love Just Like Them Horses Last Night, Ev’ry Night Let The Music Lift You Up Little Girl Little Rock Love Needs A Holiday Love Will Find Its Way to You My Sister New Fool At An Old Game Oklahoma Swing On My Own One Honest Heart One Promise Too Late Only In My Mind Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands Rumor Has It She Thinks His Name Was John Silent Night Softly And Tenderly Somebody Somebody Should Leave Somebody’s Chelsea Starting Over Again Strange Sunday Kind Of Love Sweet Music Man Take It Back The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Last One To Know The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia The Only Promise That Remains They Asked About You Til Love Comes Again Till You Love Me Today All Over Again Turn On The Radio Until They Don’t Love You Walk On We’re So Good Together What Am I Gonna Do About You What Do You Say What If What If It’s You When Love Gets A Hold Of You Whoever’s In New England Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can’t Have) Why Haven’t I Heard From You Wrong Night You Keep Me Hangin’ On You Lie You’re Gonna Be You’re The First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving

Album Tracks: "Angel In Your Arms"
Nobody submitted any album tracks for this album, but luckily I own and am pretty familiar with her debut! "Angel In Your Arms" is by far the standout on the album to me, although the whole album is honestly very solid. The way she harmonizes with herself in the chorus is really cool, imo.

Now twenty years have come and gone, And I'm still chasing things that I can't have.
87. "Little Girl"

It's still from the '80s, but this is the first song where we could truly say that Reba was a superstar! At this point she had racked up 13 #1 hits, including the magnificent "Cathy's Clown" earlier in this same album cycle. Unfortunately for this song, it sticks out like a sore thumb from all of Reba's other epic singles from the late '80s/early '90s... Lol this is SO incredibly dated, and the instrumentation and melodic structure do it no favors either. The chorus, however, is awesome! It's just a matter of making it through the incredibly maudlin instrumental and verse before you can get to said awesome chorus... {Songs Remaining} (You Lift Me) Up To Heaven And Still Back To God Because Of You Can’t Even Get The Blues Cathy’s Clown Consider Me Gone Cowgirls Don’t Cry Does He Love You Every Other Weekend Fallin’ Out Of Love Fancy For My Broken Heart Forever Love God And My Girlfriends Going Out Like That Have I Got A Deal For You He Gets That From Me How Blue How Was I To Know I Keep On Lovin’ You I Know How He Feels I’d Rather Ride Around With You I’ll Be I’m A Survivor I’m Gonna Take That Mountain I’m Not That Lonely Yet If I Were A Boy If You See Him, If You See Her Is There Life Out There It’s Your Call Just A Little Love Just Like Them Horses Last Night, Ev’ry Night Let The Music Lift You Up Little Rock Love Needs A Holiday Love Will Find Its Way to You My Sister New Fool At An Old Game Oklahoma Swing On My Own One Honest Heart One Promise Too Late Only In My Mind Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands Rumor Has It She Thinks His Name Was John Silent Night Softly And Tenderly Somebody Somebody Should Leave Somebody’s Chelsea Starting Over Again Strange Sunday Kind Of Love Sweet Music Man Take It Back The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Last One To Know The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia The Only Promise That Remains They Asked About You Til Love Comes Again Till You Love Me Today All Over Again Turn On The Radio Until They Don’t Love You Walk On We’re So Good Together What Am I Gonna Do About You What Do You Say What If What If It’s You When Love Gets A Hold Of You Whoever’s In New England Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can’t Have) Why Haven’t I Heard From You Wrong Night You Keep Me Hangin’ On You Lie You’re Gonna Be You’re The First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving

I don't know what it is about it, but the "Is this how it is when it's over line" strikes me as iconic for some reason. That's an example of the type of line that makes country music so wonderful, in my opinion. thank goodness "Little Girl" is out. That song almost became my #100 because of how much I disliked it but the one I put there I disliked even more.
"I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand" is not a bad song but just didn't grab me at all. None of the songs that left did actually.

"Little Girl" is the only thing revealed so far that I wish would've been a bit higher, but I also don't really care that much, either.

I think I likely overranked "Sweet Dreams," but in my defense the first time I heard the Reba version was from her Reba Live album released in 1989. I didn't know she had actually recorded the song until sometime later. I remember reading an article where Reba stated this was one of the final songs she performed with her band that night and she vowed to never perform the song again after that. When I went to rank this song I had the live version stuck in my head (which I think is executed better than the studio version) and also the thoughts of her band were on my mind, so I probably sentimentally put this higher than I normally would've otherwise. As for the other songs I agree with .indulgecountry that I really don't remember how any of them went. Of all those that have been revealed so far I liked "Runaway Heart" and "I Don't Want to Be a One Night Stand" the most. I really wanted to like "Little Girl" and tried listening to the song multiple times, but I just couldn't make it through the song to enjoy the chorus. Oh and I’m ok with foregoing the chart graphs for rankdowns of this size and I wasn’t planning on doing it for 80’s Ladies unless people really are interested in that kind of in-depth data lol. I honestly don’t usually look at those graphs much but I do appreciate those that have taken the time to do so.

Well I've yet to lose a top 50 song "Sweet Dreams" and "Little Girl" came a little close for comfort given how many more are still down there lol
For both of those I can definitely see why they'd be low but I love them, probably neither of them should've been singles as there were stronger options but I do love non-single material too lol

This song is weird, because I feel like it has a bit more of a modern flair than a lot of her other songs from this time period. Like, I think she could re-record this song today and turn it into an epic ballad.
Unfortunately, in its current state, it is anything but epic... Lol I can barely make it through this song, because it is just SO boring! The chorus is awesome, but the verses plod, and in my opinion the production actively drags the song down because it is just SO dated and uninspired. I think Reba could definitely make the song way more interesting nowadays as a more experienced musician.

I think it is just written in such a minor key that it is just not pleasant to the ear. The melody plods, and the song puts me in a bad mood. Lol interestingly enough, the first two notes of that fiddle intro remind me of the first two fiddle notes of George Strait's "You're Something Special To Me" (which is also one of my least favorite George Strait songs...) {Songs Remaining} (You Lift Me) Up To Heaven And Still Back To God Because Of You Can’t Even Get The Blues Cathy’s Clown Consider Me Gone Cowgirls Don’t Cry Does He Love You Every Other Weekend Fallin’ Out Of Love Fancy For My Broken Heart Forever Love God And My Girlfriends Going Out Like That Have I Got A Deal For You He Gets That From Me How Blue How Was I To Know I Keep On Lovin’ You I Know How He Feels I’d Rather Ride Around With You I’ll Be I’m A Survivor I’m Gonna Take That Mountain I’m Not That Lonely Yet If I Were A Boy If You See Him, If You See Her Is There Life Out There It’s Your Call Just Like Them Horses Last Night, Ev’ry Night Let The Music Lift You Up Little Rock Love Needs A Holiday Love Will Find Its Way to You My Sister New Fool At An Old Game Oklahoma Swing On My Own One Honest Heart One Promise Too Late Only In My Mind Ring On Her Finger, Time On Her Hands Rumor Has It She Thinks His Name Was John Silent Night Softly And Tenderly Somebody Somebody Should Leave Somebody’s Chelsea Starting Over Again Strange Sunday Kind Of Love Sweet Music Man Take It Back The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Last One To Know The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia The Only Promise That Remains They Asked About You Till You Love Me Turn On The Radio Until They Don’t Love You Walk On We’re So Good Together What Am I Gonna Do About You What Do You Say What If What If It’s You When Love Gets A Hold Of You Whoever’s In New England Why Do We Want (What We Know We Can’t Have) Why Haven’t I Heard From You Wrong Night You Keep Me Hangin’ On You Lie You’re Gonna Be You’re The First Time I’ve Thought About Leaving

So far so good with these reveals. "Little Girl" is the closest thing to a current hit to go, but to me it sounds like it could be one of her 70s/80s singles. No idea how that was chosen as a single from Sweet Sixteen over stuff like "Am I The Only One Who Cares" or "Somebody Up There Likes Me" (which I actually thought was a single for the longest time).
I like "Just A Little Love", but I totally get why it's out now.
