Great song. Always liked early Incubus.

#13 is the source of the fifth-lowest standard deviation. This song pretty much hung out in and around the top ten for the entire rankdown, being in the top ten on four separate occasions. Ultimately, it wasn't able to get to the top ten, finishing just three spots short, but this was ALWAYS in the top ten hunt at every point of the ranking process. Three posters lose top tens here, and one is a top five ranking. This is the second song to not have any bottom ten rankings, though one ranking isn't TOO far off.

And there goes another of my #1s. This did way better than they did the last time they were in the Journey, though.

#12 was only in the top ten once early on, but it never once left the top 20. It started to gain more steam near the end of the ranking, and it had a serious chance of making the top ten, if its final point total is any indication. Four posters lose top tens here, but two are top fives, and one is our third and final #1 loss of the set. Only one bottom ten is lost, but it's a pretty low one...though another poster came mighty close to having a bottom ten ranking themselves.

One more song to go, and it's time to let you in on a little secret: #10 and #11 are tied. #11 is the source of the seventh-lowest standard deviation, and boy, was I not expecting that before starting this thread. This song's momentum kept growing...and growing...and growing...and it would finally hit the top ten later in the ranking process...only for someone to do enough damage to prevent it from making the top ten. Three posters lose top ten rankings here, while just one poster loses a bottom ten.

How crazy is this? THIS had a low standard deviation. And it would have made the top ten, two, if not for the efforts of one poster. I expect his name to be shouted up to the sky in 5...4...3...2...1...

THE TOP TEN Black Sabbath - Children of the Grave Danzig - Mother Stevie Wonder - Superstition Weezer - Island in the Sun Metric - Help I'm Alive The Strokes - Machu Picchu A Perfect Circle - Blue Arcade Fire - No Cars Go The War on Drugs - Under the Pressure David Bowie - Lazarus
- What songs are you surprised to see make the top ten?
- What songs are you disappointed to not see make the top ten?
- Care to predict the top ten? Or, at the very least, the #1?

Well...way better than my performance in Daryl's Indie, that's for sure. One song I don't like, and I just hope I did enough to prevent it from winning. But damn, I need pointers on how to pick #1s apparently.

I AM READY TO SLAP A HO ACROSS THE INTERSTATE. CAN'T EVEN KEEP MY #1 IN THE TOP TEN WITH THIS MAJESTY?!? CAN'T HANDLE A LICK OF BLUES UNLESS IT HAS LOUD GUITARS HUH OH AND I DON'T WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU DARYL "I don't tank oldies, I liked this, just not as much as the others I swear!" NO. RECOGNIZE BRILLIANCE. says the guy that didn't find the brilliance in 16. The Chain Gang of 1974 - Sleepwalking
I didn't even know you guys knew of this synth magic song. One of my favs. It still could have gone higher. I believe singingrulebritannia put this on at #32, so I guess we are even? 20. John Legend - Ordinary People First time listen. It didn't sound like anything out of the ordinary Piano pop ballad to me. 19. Meat Loaf - paradise By The Dashboard Light Had this been "I would Do Anything For Love...." I would have had a different #1 song. 18. Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise Never cared for this song, Nor can I relate to these lyrics at all. Good movie, but Stand and Deliver blows it away. 17. Marilyn Manson - Coma White. Almost effortlessly crashes my top 5 15. Bill Whithers - Ain't No Sunshine I love oldies, but unless it's Beatles, Elvis or Morrison, it's mainly 70's and up. There are some exceptions tho. 14. Incubus - Stellar A very cool Aternative song. I would have put it higher in another list of songs. 13. TV On The Radio - Will Do Decent song. I just don't know it well enough to dent the other songs. 12. RUSH - XYZ RUSH should be in everyone's top 10. 11. Serj Tankian - Empty Walls I didn't like this song in any of the other rankdowns, so surprise. Even the word "tank" appears in his name.

Damn you did Gangsta's Paradise dirty, that would've been my #1 if I had participated.

- What songs are you surprised to see make the top ten? Children of the Grave, Machu Picchu - What songs are you disappointed to not see make the top ten? Stellar, Empty Walls - Care to predict the top ten? Or, at the very least, the #1? I'm not good with predictions but I'll be rooting for my #1 or #2. It will interesting to see how far my #4 goes as I could see that one potentially winning.
1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 15, 18, 19, 27
Despite losing a top 10 right out of the gate, six of my top 10 made the actual top 10! Not too shabby. I'm glad "Machu Picchu" was able to make the top 10. That was my favorite discovery here. My #27 might be pretty surprising. It's a fine song but with the strength of songs in this Rankdown I couldn't put it much higher.

Let's finish this.
#10 was mostly in the 11-15 range before suddenly jumping into the top ten near the end of the ranking process. It never went higher than #9, but it was also only out of the top 15 once. This was a song that was always going to be high in this rankdown. Three posters lose top tens, with two being top fives. This is the third song to have no bottom ten rankings, though one ranking comes mighty close to being a bottom ten.

#9 was almost always in the top ten, though it was never really a threat for the top spot. It mostly just hung out in the 6-10 range before falling out and sticking around at 11 for a couple of rankings. Eventually, it moved back into the top ten and stayed there. Only two posters lose top tens here, and they're low bottom tens. One poster loses a bottom ten, but it's a big one for them, as it clears their bottom ten. Oh, and this is the song with the second-lowest standard deviation.

#8 was in and out of the top ten at first, but it would enter the top ten around the midway point and wouldn't look back...though it could not seem to get higher than #8. Go figure. A new RD-high five top tens are lost, and almost all of them are top five rankings. We also see a bottom ten lost, and I believe that clears that poster's bottom ten.
