Warner Brothers moving the release date from May (counter-programming for "Avengers: Infinity War" & "Deadpool 2") to October (right as award season was ramping up) was a huge indicator that the studio had a hit on their hands. I'm glad that paid off for all involved.
Now send "Always Remember Us This Way" (or "Why Did You Do That?") to Pop. Thanks.

I remember when everyone seemed to think this would flop and Gaga would embarrass herself. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be anywhere near this big. Like, I expected maybe a minor success, not a bonafide hit, big box office numbers, #1s, and prestigious awards lol. I have to hand it to Gaga-she always seems to make it. When all else fails, she will always have her incredible talent and work ethic. Since dropping a lot of her over-the-top pop persona, she’s actually come across less authentic to me—she’s like the ultimate melodramatic theater kid—but she’s too good to not root for. |

No. I think the poster was referring to the fact that it was originally scheduled for awards season then brought to May then”pushed back” to awards season again. It might be in the pop culture forum, but there were people questioning this film. I was championing against the naysayers then, but I felt the film fell flat towards the end. I just watched it last weekend. It was good. But I didn’t think it was THAT good. Shallow deserved the Oscar without question. |
