With the canellation of the remainder of the Joanne World Tour, the "Joanne" era is officially over. What is Gaga up to next?

I wonder if her next era could come close to her 2009-2011 dominance, if she could have another killer era so to speak.

I definitely see her returning to her early sound with this era.
Joanne was a nice change of pace and I loved it but I'm ready for her to slay the charts again. Still thrilled that "Million Reasons" bounced back like it did.

I would love, love, love for her to have another hit era. Like, even one major smash and then a second hit that is at least a minor smash off its momentum would make me happy. I think she is still capable of doing so, but man, I am not excited that the same team is working with her that did Perfect Illusion. That was such an immediate era killer that she basically spent the rest of the era trying to make up for it I even think Million Reasons was held back a bit by Perfect Illusion. It was kind of a hard sell anyway because radio wasn't playing songs like Million Reasons at that time, but it would have started off much better following an actual hit rather than a bomb of a momentum and hype killer. I don't even hate Perfect Illusion and I am sorry if I am offending people, but its just hard for me to see it as anything but a song that instantly turned people off from the entire Joanne era even if some fans loved it lol. It was so off the mark that I am not sure that she or her team understands what is needed for her to get another bonafide airplay hit? Or that she wants to...Though, Million Reasons I think we can call a genuine hit even though I am not sure I would say it was a smash. Then, I think The Cure was a good sign as well. People really reacted to a random non-album single that she didn't really promote or even have a video for. It did pretty well for what it was. Anyway, I have liked all of her cds to a certain extent and I am sure I will like this one as well, whether she gets an airplay hit or not lol.

I just rewatched her Super Bowl show and I'm ready to see what she brings next. John Wayne still slays and MR is still beautiful but I'd love Pop Gaga to come back full time. The Cure was good, but she can do so much better.
FWIW, I don't think she's ever been as respected as she is right now. All her performances and media appearances have been well received. She just needs the right material.

Except for Perfect Illusion and A-Yo, I wasn’t a big fan of Joanne. Tbh, I haven’t really stanned Gaga since the BTW era but I loved The Cure and I wouldn’t mind if she headed in that direction for her next album. Bring her back to her pop roots.

I liked the Joanne era for what it was It was a great change of pace and still offered great songs
Still pressed that John Wayne got slept on so badly, should've been a single
I'd honestly love to see Gaga once again do something new for this next record, I'm pretty sure it will be poppier, I'd be surprised if it weren't
I just kinda don't want EDM Gaga again, ARTPOP isn't bad but still holds its place as my least faved of her albums, even though it has some major highlights (G.U.Y, Applause, DWUW, Venus, etc) Anywho I hope queen recovers soon
I've spent a lot of time hyping myself up with The Fame, Fame Monster, & Born This Way + some tracks from ARTPOP & Joanne. So I'm right now in my Gaga loving phase again, though I always love her and truly think she is one of the top artists of all time given her versatile style, killer vocals/writing, and her dedication to her craft, performances and fans.

Joanne re-enters the US album chart at #101!
It's amazing that she still have MILLIONS of Little Monsters with her even if she wasn't able to top the pop charts again. I'm so excited for a great comeback (with the movie and new album etc)

I need EDM Gaga now! ARTPOP is my favorite album by her. "Aura" > I must agree. I would love an album from her like ARTPOP or even alongside the lines of the sound of The Cure...I would be extremely happy. With that being said, I wonder if her physical condition (fibromyalgia) is going to deter her from making dance pop music.

Her projects since The Fame have all felt like they've carried a burden of some sort, and The Cure was the first song of hers in years that's felt "free," but even that had some tragic undertones in its origin. I think that's the concept I'd like to see from her the most. What does a happy, free Gaga sound like?

I don't want EDM Gaga or Dance/Pop Gaga unless she is ushering in a new trend in the style. The Fame brought with it a level of innovation because the music style was fresh and ahead of the curve and it paved the way for the EDM/Dance sound to go mainstream. But the state of that style right now is stale so a return to Pop Gaga for me would mean an overhaul of whatever music is doing right now.
Meanwhile, I'm still pressed "Diamond Heart" didn't get single treatment.
Get well soon Mother Monster!

I just want something with a euphoric pop chorus, something like Aura. IMO she doesn't need to reinvent the wheel, just give us something catchy.

She doesn't need to reinvent the wheel but she can't do "The Cure." It's fine if she falls in line with modern pop trends but I didn't become a stan because she had hits. Gaga is unique - if she can deliver Hits while maintaining her edge, I'm here for it.
I also re-watched her Super Bowl performance and godDAMN she brought it. I want that kind of energy and passion and individuality, whether its light/dark/pop/rock/etc. I want the Gaga that was HUNGRY and surrounded by hungry people. If she is in the right mindset and taps into her creativity in an exciting way, the hits will come.

Joanne did what it needed to do IMO. It brought her back down to Earth as a songwriter. She started declining as a songwriter with BTW and it really hit rock bottom with Artpop. I can't believe people are saying they want more "Aura" from her. That's the kind of song that ends careers (songs like that damn near ended hers). That horrifically cringe-worthy banjo intro, the eye-rollingly bad lyrics, the stupid affected vocals. Just no. I will give you the production on that song goes hard when it hits and the chorus is fantastic (she needs more big choruses like that). But overall, she needs to stay away from that mess, the public wasn't here for it the last time and they sure as hell won't be now.
She needs to bring the solid songwriting from Joanne and she needs to combine it with some pristine pop production. She'll be golden.

The public seems to embrace her toned down persona. I can see Joanne influenced music leading into A Star is Born. After that I would love some alternative electic challenging self revelationary sound from her if that’s not asking too much.

I don’t think people appreciate Applause enough. The verses are only okay but the instrumental and the chorus are incredible. Everytime I hear I just feel the urge to get up and dance. I love big choruses like that. I just listened to Aura (in full and outside of a mashup) for the first time - please no. From the vocals to the instrumental to the lyrics. The only good part is when the drums stop at the start of the chorus, but even then it isn’t that good

I don’t think people appreciate Applause enough. "Applause" could have been PERFECTIOOOOON. I love the instrumental, the pre-chorus and chorus is epic (even the little post-chorus hook is cute). But then those verses, ugh. Lyrically and vocally, just no. And that marred so much of Artpop, these amazing choruses, production elements, etc. surrounded by nonsense. I like that she got most of her sloppiness in check on Joanne, I just need her to marry that discipline with some straight-up pop again. And she can still retain some of her old edge, she just needs to rein it in and focus it. She did such a great job of that on The Fame Monster. She can do it again.

Donatella is the single most worst song she's ever done. Disaster and a half.

Donatella is solid
Swine is the worst off ARTPOP imo
I do agree with the notion though that the awkwardness on some of the songs takes away a bit from them On Applause it didn't bother me too much mainly because once the pre-chorus rolls around and then the smashing chorus, all is well
But on other songs it takes away a lot from them. Though I'm gotta say I fucks with Venus, DWUW, Applause, G.U.Y, Sexxx Dreams, MANiCURE, & Mary Jane Holland Then soften up with Gypsy, ARTPOP & Dope Fashion is also there but not up to par
Aura, Swine, Donatella, Jewels N Drugs are all rejected for the most part for me

Joanne is a fine album, but nobody can say it quenched the thirst she left after the underperformance of Artpop, then dabbling in a variety of left-field projects for years. It wasn’t the album any of us were hoping for, and wasn’t a return to form, or the throne.
It’s pretty unanimous amongst her fans about what they want, and it’s not another Joanne. I hope the right producer can find that balance of maintaining the integrity of her biggest albums, and evolving it in a sincere direction.

I wonder if her next era could come close to her 2009-2011 dominance, if she could have another killer era so to speak. I doubt it. In today's fickle music climate, radio and fans just tend to move on quickly. I have not seen any of the current big stars who have a downward turn reverse it. The exception being maybe Britney. She had a pretty bad downturn and bounced back for a bit, but even then, she went back to a big downturn (from "Criminal" onward.) In the past, there was always the opportunity for a comeback...Madonna (Ray of Light, Music, Confessions on a Dancefloor, Hard Candy) after the whole Erotica debacle, but has now been in a downturn since 2012. Mariah Carey (E=MC2, Emancipation of Mimi) after that Glitter mess, but now is in a pretty bad downturn. Janet, Celine, and Whitney never really bounced back to their career highs. Whitney had "My Love is Your Love" but then fall right back again. Celine I would argue because she found greater success in Vegas and sort of stuck with that, even though she would release some niche albums afterwards. I think that if even Taylor Swift can be experiencing a slight reversal of fortune, that it would be ever harder for Gaga to bounce back to an epic era.
