At #3, we say goodbye to the album's 3rd single, which managed a peak of 23 on the Country Airplay charts. This song is another instance of Maddie & Tae's silly side, and was a favorite to be the winner here. It was in the top 3 for most of the submission process, even holding the #1 spot for a little while, but #2 seemed to be its destiny. Unfortunately it slipped right at the end, and lost that #2 position. This song wipes out 3 #1s for people, but it also finally wipes out SHOOTER's #11.

I wish this song had been able to win, because now we are down to my #6 versus my #9

I really hope "Fly" wins, but "Girl in a Country Song" is fantastic, too. "Fly" and "Smoke" are just my favorites.

I remember loving "Sierra" at the time the album was released, but, re-listening to the album for this rankdown, for some reason it was less of a stand out and I ended up more interested in other songs (like "No Place Like You" and "Waitin' On a Plane") that I hadn't paid much attention to before.

This song is really good, and I am both thrilled and surprised to see it do so well! I figured this would be a little more polarizing, because I seem to recall a few people finding it boring. However it cleaned house, starting low and then very steadily working its way up to the top 5, and then to #2, without ever really looking back. It never made a bid for the #1 spot, but it DID generate enough support to push the other #1 contender, "Shut Up And Fish", out of the top 2!

In a move that is probably not surprising to anybody, the duo's first #1 hit (and the largest hit from the album by far) manages to snag the #1 spot in this rankdown with a landslide victory! This song definitely was a perfect first single fro them, as it provided a fun lighthearted introduction to the duo. I am SO glad this managed to be a hit, and it could not have come at a more perfect time for the genre!

That being said, I was definitely hoping something else would win this... As excellent as GIACS is, this whole album is just SO GOOD... To me GIACS is definitely a novelty song, and not necessarily representative of what these girls are offering as artists. It would have been SO awesome to see something like "Smoke" come close to winning this...

The only songs I had heard prior to this rankdown were the top 2. I actually was expecting to like “Shut Up and Fish” but after listening, I couldn’t believe it was chosen as a single. Terrible 3rd single choice IMO, and I think that screwed up their momentum.

I'm slightly surprised that "Fly" generated enough support to get to #2. It's a really good song though, so I'm not complaining! "Girl in a Country Song" was such a memorable debut song from them, it's deserving of the win.

I loved "Girl In A Country Song" when it came out and I still really like it now a lot and was expecting to put it as my #1 but I ended up loving "Fly" and "Smoke" much more. Not sure how I have never heard "Fly" before or maybe I had but I never really paid it any attention, same with "Shut Up and Fish".
