Now that Maddie & Tae's second album has been out for nearly a year, it's been long enough to where it feels like we can do an album rankdown for them! Especially since they are potentially teasing some new music in the next few months, as well as riding high on the momentum of "Die From A Broken Heart" being a huge #1 hit for them, I'm super excited to be listening to them right now, lol.

Coming in last place with a whopping NINE perfect rankings and only one top half rank, we lose "Write A Book"! This song is just plain not good, and to me I think the biggest flaw is the stupid premise. It's like, "You're so good at loving me you could write a book telling everyone else how to do it". Of course negated in the second verse with "Actually I think I'd rather just keep you to myself", lol. The bridge is also annoying because it doesn't add anything to the song, it is just the title repeated over and over again way too many times. This one was pretty much a runaway last place contender, as you can see from the trajectory graph.

I hated "New Dog Old Tricks" when their first EP that turned into this album came out. It was easily the worst song they had ever released at that point in their careers. However, it has grown on me quite a bit since then! It's still among their worst, but I do appreciate the fun energy more now, and I don't hate it the way I used to! The premise is still really stupid, but in a clever-stupid way unlike "Write A Book", lol.

There's my least favorite song of their career up to this point! "My Man" is soooooo annoying to me. The overall groove of the song is what makes me hate it so much. I fell in love with M&T when they came out because of their throwback sound, and this album took a long time to grow on me because it pretty much unilaterally veered away from that sound, but this one is one of the worst offenders. The funky piano groove would be enticing in like a Michael Buble song or something, but does not sound good with Maddie & Tae. The premise isn't stupid like "New Dog Old Tricks" or "Write A Book", and the melody is alright, so this is a classic example of a song that could have been made much better with a different arrangement.

Now that the bottom 3 songs are gone, this album gets a LOT stronger, imo. This top 12 would have made a very solid album. I was shocked to see "Trying On Rings" get as much hate as it did! It was consistently higher than the bottom 3, but was never able to get much higher at all. It settled in at #12 and never got its footing to mount an escape from the bottom 4.

I think this one is pretty sweet, tbh. The way it portrays the progression of a relationship is unique and descriptive, and I love that it is actually one of the more country songs on the album.
