These walls could use some silence, These eyes could use some drying right about now. How can I be so lonely When I know you're always around? I can't take another sleeping on the couch night, Another stupid till the mornin' fight. Baby, I'm calling a truce.

The final song to miss the top 10 is the steamy duet with Dierks Bentley. I have always felt like this was one of the more underrated songs on the album, and these results confirm it! It did hang out at #10 for at least half of the submission process, but in the end seven bottom-5 ranks did their best to prevent this from finishing in the top 10. Their vocals are soooo good, and I love the melody a lot. This maybe doesn't have any hit potential in 2021, but it sounds to me like it could have been a smash hit in the mid-00s, which is one of the reasons I love it so much.
At least 16 of us have taste!

"Lay Here With Me" is one I wanted to put higher but the strength of the album made it impossible to do so. There'll pretty much only be painful losses from this point forward.

The bottom 3 is absolutely correct. Like bboat11 said, the top 12 is SO MUCH stronger! Like literally a perfect album after cutting the bottom 3. Sorry taylor is terrified, not sure what you are hearing...

The instrumentation sucked on "Write A Book" which is sad cuz the actual melody isn't that bad. "New Dog Old Tricks" is a total jam so of course y'all tank it lol. "My Man" was decent. Not sad to see it leave tho. "Trying On Rings" was... really bad, lol. Easy last place and I'm glad it didn't make it very far. Also, I read the title too fast initially and thought the song was called "Trying Onion Rings" I thought I'd be in the minority on the Dierks duet but I'm glad its out early lol. It was legit bad. I did consider this as last place momentarily, but "Rings" was still worse. I like Maddie & Tae, but feel like I don't love them as much as some of y'all do, so I definitely dislike some of my bottom songs lol.

Both "Trying On Rings" and "New Dog Old Tricks" play at my work every so often so I've grown to enjoy those songs quite a bit. Definitely a mixed set of results for me

Absolutely correct bottom 2 - the only two songs I really don't care for at all. "My Man" certainly isn't great, but it is at least catchy and fun to sing along to, unlike "Dog" and "Book". "Trying on Rings" and "Lay Here With Me" are decent, but nothing that special. My top 8 here are top-notch so I'm hoping my #12 and #13 can leave next.

"New Dog Old Tricks" is such a goofy song. Like it's kinda fun and mindless every once in awhile, but it's a very clear outlier on this record imo. "Trying on Rings," "Write a Book," and "My Man" are all the definition of decent-not-great. "Lay Here with Me" is painfully boring. It's a shame they were able to land a duet with someone like Dierks Bentley and it be wasted on such music wallpaper.
So... in other words... solid start! I'm not really upset about any of these losses thus far tbh.

taylor is terrified gets his wish, as his last place bows out next, kicking off our top 10! "Ain't There Yet" and "Lay Here With Me" were literally neck-and-neck for the entire submission process. They were pretty much flip flopping the whole time and fighting for which one would get to sneak into the top 10 and which one would be stuck at #11! In the end this song snuck ahead by 4 points. "Ain't There Yet" is one where I wasn't sure what to expect from it. I can definitely see why elements of it might rub people the wrong way, but as a whole I find it to be really catchy! I kept wishing it would gain more traction as we got deeper into the submission process, but this album's results solidified well enough that there wasn't a lot of hope for anything to make any major moves once we reached a certain amount of lists.

"Water In His Wine Glass" is one of the strongest lyrical pieces on this album, but I have always found the arrangement to be a tad towards the boring side. That being said, I feel like this is a good place for it to finish!

"Drunk Or Lonely" is the one that has probably grown on me the most as a result of doing this rankdown. Before there has always been something about the chorus melody that I can't quite get into, but seeing how relatively well-loved it was as the lists poured in has gotten me listening to it more, and now I'm starting to like it a lot more. Still glad to see it leaving now in favor of everything that is left, because we're truly approaching the GREAT regions of this album now!

From one heart to another, From one ex to the next lover, I've felt that spell you're under, That kiss underneath those covers. When it's good, it don't get better. He'll make it feel like it's forever, But from one ex to the next lover, He goes from one heart to another.

"One Heart To Another" is another of the more lyrically brilliant moments on the album, especially in the chorus! The perspective of the ex telling the new lover to beware always makes for interesting songs (especially because there's the tidbit about the previous lover giving our narrator the same warning. Lmao clearly this guy's got a history!)
This is one that I thought had some hit potential when their first EP came out, especially because they named the EP after it. However, "Die From A Broken Heart" was the obvious hit of that EP, and then they put out a whole second EP with even more hit potential songs like "Everywhere I'm Goin'" and "Bathroom Floor", and then a whole album with 5 more new songs, so I figured this one's single chances dried up really quickly, lol.

I was hoping this one would sneak in the top-5! It was an instant favorite from the moment I heard it.
Water in His Wine Glass also deserved a tad better just for the lyric alone. 🥺💔

I swear Pulse's taste sometimes... It's no coincidence the most traditional country sounding songs in this album are the best-written ones.

You turned my home into a city on a map. I'm okay alone, but the thing that makes me mad Is I feel like a stranger, like the only thing I am
Is a tourist in this town. So where do I go from here? A tourist in this town, A broken heart for a souvenir.

So annoying that they had so many single-worthy records wind up without a shot because country radio is ass. 😑

"Tourist In This Town" is another one that I thought had a lot of hit potential when it first came out. (I may or may not have even liked it more than "Bathroom Floor" at first, don't hate me...)
This ended up being our most polarizing song of the whole album, which was a little surprising to me, but I'm happy that it ended up finishing as high as it did! To me this is a perfect place for it! (And I have the perfect ranking to match, lmao!) But seriously, I thought this one had hit potential, but everything that is left had more hit potential. My top 5 is the top 5!
