"Tourist In This Town" is another one that I thought had a lot of hit potential when it first came out. ( I may or may not have even liked it more than "Bathroom Floor" at first, don't hate me...) This ended up being our most polarizing song of the whole album, which was a little surprising to me, but I'm happy that it ended up finishing as high as it did! To me this is a perfect place for it! (And I have the perfect ranking to match, lmao!) But seriously, I thought this one had hit potential, but everything that is left had more hit potential. My top 5 is the top 5! I mean I love "Bathroom Floor" but for what it's worth I think it's very in-your-face so I get why someone wouldn't like it!

Whole world in my living room. It's all you, babe. If I could paint paradise, it'd be you. It's all you, babe. Every red pin on the map I'm holding. You're everywhere I've been And everywhere I'm goin'. From backwoods to the neon glowin', You're everywhere I've been And everywhere I'm goin'.

"Everywhere I'm Goin'" was one of my immediate favorites when it came out on their second EP, and it works perfectly as an opening track to this album! I agree that it would have been an excellent single. Those "ooo"s give the song an immediately recognizable identity that would have undoubtedly helped it on the radio waves and as a live song. Hopefully they keep touring with it even though it wasn't a hit, 'cause it was a lot of fun when I saw them live opening for Carrie in 2018!

Friends don't call you in the middle of the night, Couldn't even tell you why, They just felt like saying "hi". Friends don't stand around playing with their keys, Finding reasons not to leave, Trying to hide the chemistry. Drive a little too slow, take the long way home, Get a little too close, We do, but friends don't.

Coming into this rankdown, I had no idea where I was going to rank "Friends Don't". On the one hand, sometimes I don't even think of it as part of this album because it is just sooooo old (and it is also so far back in the tracklist). But on the other hand, I do love it a lot, and I am glad they included it on the album!
The best part of this song is the hook. The way it describes all the things that friends don't do, implying that lovers do them instead, only for the hook to then make it personal like "we do, but friends don't", it's just really understated and brilliant song crafting.

I think its age is what caused it to fall so low on my list; I do enjoy it all the same.

The only thing worse than my imagination Is all of these third-party observations. I don't need to know I don't need to know I don't need to know Who's keepin' you company.

Our first multi-#1 loss bows out at #3 with "I Don't Need To Know"! This one was immediately praised upon album release (at least among us on Pulse, but I feel like it had some critical acclaim as well. I know it made it onto a few New Country playlists!), so it should be no surprise to see it finish this high. This song would have made an excellent single, and it is a shame that radio is sooooooooo freaking slow these days.... "Bathroom Floor" obviously has a lot of potential as well, as evidenced by the fact that it is still in, but I would have loved to see this one on the radio as well...

Wow, I thought IDNtK would be DFaBH's only competition.

Get up off the bathroom floor, Let's wipe the tears off your cheeks. Put on a dress and get out that door. Girl, the first shot's on me. Let's jump into a cab downtown, Let a sexy man spin you around. Let's show that heart some neon magic 'Til we're drunk and laughing Back on the bathroom floor.
2. "Bathroom Floor"
Track #2 Runtime: 2:34
How does he sleep at night? Mama, the nerve of this guy To leave me so easy. Am I gonna be alright? I wanna kick myself for falling so hard. Mama, can you die from a broken heart?

The predictable (yet correct) winner reigns supreme, as most of us probably assumed it would all along! However, while we have seen DFABH be wildly successful in rds before, this is officially the first time it has ever won a rd, so this victory is cause for celebration!
"Bathroom Floor" is catchy and has no doubt turned into a bit of a fan favorite, so I am not surprised to see it at #2.
However, "Die From A Broken Heart" is one of those songs that you can't help but feel when you listen to it. Especially when you watch the music video. I do wish it had a bit more throwback production similar to their first album, but that's just a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things. Glad to see it finally become a winner!

Lovely ending! My Top 3 was the Top 3 in that order, and DFABH deserves the win! Beautiful song in every regard. And LOOK at that amount of #1s! Nothing stood a chance of course though, there always has to be someone outside the Top 5 I'm gonna go ahead because I'm curious and see how well-agreed upon this song was in the context of rankdown history because this has to be a big one! (EDIT: the score is 13.6 out of 100. This has to be just outside of the Top 10 wins of all time; correct?!) Thanks for hosting bboat11

Perfect and correct top 3! I wish "I Don't Need to Know" would have snuck in front of "Bathroom Floor", but I love those two about equally so I'm fine with the swap. DFABH is a career song for them and I'm so so glad radio agreed (eventually). Can't wait for their next album that hopefully we can get by the end of the year.

Solid results! âBathroom Floorâ is such a jam, definitely knew it would be my #1 going into this. Glad to see âFriends Donâtâ do well, thatâs another song I hear at work a lot that I really enjoy hearing. While âDie From A Broken Heartâ is a predictable winner, itâs very much deserving. Such a beautiful song, and even if it was my #5, I still enjoy it a lot.
Thanks for hosting!

Thanks for hosting bboat11 It's actually the 42nd highest finish of all time ;) Lmao 13.6 is still a powerful victory, but it's not all that uncommon for powerful victories to finish in the 12-15 range, especially in album series. It's the ones that are lower than the 10th percentile that are truly the rarest of the rare!

taylor I just updated the online spreadsheet for the first time in like a year ;) (I have my own Excel spreadsheet, but I try to periodically copy/paste into a Google Doc for y'all to check out if you want to.) So you can play with it now and see what all finished higher than "Die From A Broken Heart" if you'd like! Just sort it by the "Average Score of Winner" column. Country Rankdown Spreadsheet

Country Rankdown Spreadsheet It's really cool to see all that in order, and I wonder if Pam's will ever be beaten. What a finish for her!! Also, this is an arbitrary number, but this rankdown you just finished is our 375th overall!!! Although non-country RDs with country winners, such as evermore, are included in that number, we're still pretty close to 400!

I almost put DFABH at #1 just so I could be part of the winner's circle, but truthfully "I Don't Need to Know" is indeed my favorite on the record, though "Die" is a very very very close 2nd, and a rightful winner here. It is such a beautiful song in all aspects and there is literally 0 burn rate on it for me despite it being a song that took nearly 2 years from its first initial release to turn into a #1 hit.
