"Out Of Your Shoes" is one of my Mom's favorite songs. She had me search everywhere for that song because she didn't know the name of it, all she could remember was it was Lorrie Morgan. "Dear Me" should have lasted at least 10 more spots. Beyond disappointed to see that one out already.

I remember my mom always listening to the Leave the Light On cassette tape at home lol...I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for both of those songs. I went back and forth about which song to include but finally went with "Dear Me" because it was her first top 10 hit.

Alright I'm back...let's get to the Top 20! Next up a fellow Texas Lady says goodbye to one of her two songs in the rankdown.

"If I could turn back time If I could find a way I'd take back those words that hurt you And you'd stay If I could reach the stars I'd give 'em all to you Then you'd love me, love me, like you used to do" 25. "Love Me Like You Used To" - Tanya Tucker Total: 289 Average: 22.23 Std Dev: 9.85
Year Released: 1987 Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: #2
Tanya Tucker remains divisive on Pulse just as I expected as we see her #2 hit from 1987 "Love Me Like You Used To" leave next. Save for a one top 5 and one top 10, it mostly saw rankings in the low 30's to mid 20's. sabre14 at least loses a bottom 5 this time instead of a top 5 {Songs Remaining}80’s Ladies 9 to 5 Can’t Even Get the Blues No More Cross My Broken Heart Daddy’s Hands Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses He’s a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen) I Fell In Love Again Last Night I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool It’s Like We Never Said Goodbye Jose Cuervo A Lesson In Leavin’ My Arms Stay Open All Night Never Had It So Good Nobody Queen of Hearts Seven Year Ache There’s No Stopping Your Heart Timber, I’m Falling in Love Turn It Loose Who’s Cheatin’ Who Whoever’s in New England Why Not Me Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That

24. "There's No Stopping Your Heart" - Marie Osmond Total: 287 Average: 22.07 Std Dev: 9.13
Year Released: 1985 Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: #1
"There's No Stopping Your Heart" actually exceeded my expectations and didn't think it would make it to the top 25, but I'm pleasantly surprised it did. Two of us placed it just inside the top 25 while two others lose a top 10 (including another for sabre14 ); someguy was the only one to place this in their bottom 5. Marie Osmond had a career resurgence in country music in the mid 80's and saw a string of #1 hits including this song. {Songs Remaining}80’s Ladies 9 to 5 Can’t Even Get the Blues No More Cross My Broken Heart Daddy’s Hands Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses He’s a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen) I Fell In Love Again Last Night I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool It’s Like We Never Said Goodbye Jose Cuervo A Lesson In Leavin’ My Arms Stay Open All Night Never Had It So Good Nobody Queen of Hearts Seven Year Ache Timber, I’m Falling in Love Turn It Loose Who’s Cheatin’ Who Whoever’s in New England Why Not Me Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That

23. "Jose Cuervo" - Shelly West Total: 282 Average: 21.69 Std Dev: 11.01
Year Released: 1983 Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: #1
Shelly's debut single "Jose Cuervo" is next to leave us and is yet another song from my birth year! Rankings for this song were all over the place with it getting one top 5 and one top 10 ranking while also getting two bottom five rankings (including one from your host). Speaking for myself this song is way overplayed and I hear it ALL THE TIME on radio locally so that's why I ended up putting this one down near the bottom. {Songs Remaining}80’s Ladies 9 to 5 Can’t Even Get the Blues No More Cross My Broken Heart Daddy’s Hands Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses He’s a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen) I Fell In Love Again Last Night I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool It’s Like We Never Said Goodbye A Lesson In Leavin’ My Arms Stay Open All Night Never Had It So Good Nobody Queen of Hearts Seven Year Ache Timber, I’m Falling in Love Turn It Loose Who’s Cheatin’ Who Whoever’s in New England Why Not Me Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That

22. "It's Like We Never Said Goodbye" - Crystal Gayle Total: 274 Average: 21.07 Std Dev: 9.23
Year Released: 1980 Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: #1 Billboard Adult Contemporary Peak: #17
Released in February of 1980, "It's Like We Never Say Goodbye" is the oldest song selected for the 80's Ladies Rankdown. Unfortunately for LBTrocks that means they say goodbye to their #1. This song was a discovery for me and I ended up really enjoying it, so much so that I almost wanted to put in my top 20 but ended up ranking it just outside of that. Overall this exceeded my expectations and I'm glad to see it come in as high as it did. {Songs Remaining}80’s Ladies 9 to 5 Can’t Even Get the Blues No More Cross My Broken Heart Daddy’s Hands Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses He’s a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen) I Fell In Love Again Last Night I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool A Lesson In Leavin’ My Arms Stay Open All Night Never Had It So Good Nobody Queen of Hearts Seven Year Ache Timber, I’m Falling in Love Turn It Loose Who’s Cheatin’ Who Whoever’s in New England Why Not Me Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That

Coming up next we say goodbye to the most polarizing song of the rankdown that came in with a standard deviation of 14.78 (the Madonna song posted above is a clue for this)!

21. "Daddy's Hands" - Holly Dunn Total: 273 Average: 21 Std Dev: 14.38 (Highest Standard Deviation!)
Year Released: 1986 Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: #7
Unfortunately we say goodbye to "Daddy's Hands" on Father's Day and with that we see sabre14 lose his fifth top 10 of the night while we see four additional members lose a top 10; only Kanenrá:ke is gleefully cheering this leaving as it was his #40. I knew that this song was going to end up being divisive so I'm not surprised to see it come just short of the top 20. Holly had a string of hits in the late 80's and I still hear some of those songs on the radio today. Sadly Holly Dunn passed away in late 2016 from cancer. {Songs Remaining}80’s Ladies 9 to 5 Can’t Even Get the Blues No More Cross My Broken Heart Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses He’s a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen) I Fell In Love Again Last Night I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool A Lesson In Leavin’ My Arms Stay Open All Night Never Had It So Good Nobody Queen of Hearts Seven Year Ache Timber, I’m Falling in Love Turn It Loose Who’s Cheatin’ Who Whoever’s in New England Why Not Me Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That

"Jose Cuervo" isn't a bad song, but I'll never be able to get over the fact that she sounds like a man on it. Literally had no idea it was a female vocalist singing the song the first handful of times I'd come across it on the radio. ETA: OMG WHAT?! How is "Daddy's Hands" that polarizing? Omg it should've been a Top 10 contender not outside the Top 20. Shame. </3

Encore! There's four more 80's Ladies of Country that exit the rankdown while Tanya Tucker is still in with her second song.
Marie Osmond "Meet Me In Montana" Marie's best known song is the duet she did with Dan Seals that they took to #1 in 1985.
Shelly West "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma" Shelly and David Frizzell released a dozen of hits as duo in the early 80s including this one that went to #1 in 1981.
Crystal Gayle "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" This is probably my favorite song by Crystal and it was a #1 hit for her back in 1977.
Holly Dunn "There Goes My Heart Again" This is one of Holly's songs that I still hear on the radio today and almost selected it for the rankdown, but thought her signature hit was better suited for this.

Literally had no idea it was a female vocalist singing the song the first handful of times I'd come across it on the radio. You're not alone in thinking that! Like I mentioned above I hear the song quite frequently on the radio and for the longest time thought it was a man singing as well...I don't even want to admit when I first learned it wasn't

Crystal Gayle out at 22?!?!??!!??!?!? I didn't answer the pre-reveal questions but my fav 80s lady is hands down Crystal! She's definitely one of my all-time favorites. It just doesn't get better than her. Her voice is heavenly and her music is gorgeous. I adore "It's Like We Never Said Goodbye" to pieces, and it's not even one of my top favorites from her and could see that being the case for others as well. I expected at least top 20 though.

I’m going to get us to the Top 15 this evening, but until then here’s a couple classic hits from Bonnie Tyler and the quintessential 80’s Lady herself Dolly Parton (these might also be hints about what to expect for the next set of reveals).

The only song I'm surprised to see still in is "I Fell In Love Again Last Night". I didn't expect it to make it this high!
Not shocked k.d. didn't last long but I thought she'd escape the bottom 3.
I love Holly Dunn and have almost all her albums (need to track 2 more down) but her signature hit was always just really awful to me.
If a different Crystal Gayle song had been picked she could've easily competed for my #1, this one was always one of my less liked of hers and it's still my #22. Fantastic singles discography.
Deborah is my only top 10 loss so far, I'm sad it couldn't sneak into the top 20. It's been one of my favorite 80's singles and I loved Shannon Brown's cover of it from around 2001.

It's WAY too early for a Dolly song to leave this early imo.
Didn't Juice Newton also cover "It's a Heartache"? I'd hate to see her leave next.

I'm thinking "He's a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen)" ~ Janie Fricke is gonna be next maybe. "Queen Of Hearts" better not be out next ETA: I just looked at my list and I underranked "Queen of Hearts" not sure what I was thinking because I love that song

"Maybe I am blue, Maybe I'm crazy too, But I'll always love you...Cross my broken heart"20. Cross My Broken Heart - Suzy Bogguss Total: 271 Average: 20.84 Std Dev: 9.99
Year Released: 1989 Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: #14
The Class of '89 loses its second artist with Suzy Bogguss' first top 20 single "Cross My Broken Heart." This only had one bottom 5 ranking while three others placed it just inside their top 10; overall a majority of the rankings were somewhere within the mid 20's. This song was a discovery for myself as I wasn't all that familiar with her material from her first two albums. After quite a few listens this one really grew on me and I ended up liking more than I thought, but it still just missed my top 30. {Songs Remaining}80’s Ladies 9 to 5 Can’t Even Get the Blues No More Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses He’s a Heartache (Looking for a Place to Happen) I Fell In Love Again Last Night I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool A Lesson In Leavin’ My Arms Stay Open All Night Never Had It So Good Nobody Queen of Hearts Seven Year Ache Timber, I’m Falling in Love Turn It Loose Who’s Cheatin’ Who Whoever’s in New England Why Not Me Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That

"It's a heartache...Nothing but a heartache" 19. He's a Heartache (Looking For a Place to Happen) - Janie Fricke Total: 271 Average: 20.84 Std Dev: 9.07
Year Released: 1983 Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: #1
We say goodbye to another 80's Lady with Janie Fricke's 1983 hit "He's a Heartache (Looking For a Place to Happen)." Kanenrá:ke loses his second top 10 in a row (probably karma for tanking "Daddy's Hands") while I'm the only one to lose a bottom 5; two more lose a top 20 and four members lose a top 15 ranking. This song exceeded my expectations all around as I didn't think it stood a chance to make the Top 20; speaking for myself I've never been a big fan of Janie's voice. She was obviously doing something right as she went on to win the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award in both 1982 and 1983. {Songs Remaining}80’s Ladies 9 to 5 Can’t Even Get the Blues No More Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses I Fell In Love Again Last Night I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool A Lesson In Leavin’ My Arms Stay Open All Night Never Had It So Good Nobody Queen of Hearts Seven Year Ache Timber, I’m Falling in Love Turn It Loose Who’s Cheatin’ Who Whoever’s in New England Why Not Me Why’d You Come In Here Lookin’ Like That
