#28 was once in /æ/ position where it would have REALLY surprised me to see it end up. At one point, this song was in the bottom five for three out of four rankings. /ee/ didn't think this song would do that well, but /ee/ certainly didn't think it would end up in the bottom five. /æ/ late surge helped to move the song out of the bottom ten into /æ/ more manageable position. Nonetheless, it ended up with the fourth-highest standard deviation.
Six posters will lose /æ/ bottom ten here, with all but five of those rankings being /æ/ bottom five ranking. One of those bottom fives is /æ/ #40. Seven posters ranked this song in the top half, on the other hand, with two posters losing top tens (and /æ/ couple of posters getting close). Those two top tens are also top five rankings, and they're both for posters who have already suffered early hits. And hey, remember how /ee/ suffered /æ/ couple of big hits early? Yeah, this one is /æ/ bigger hit...

Damn /ee/ got caught behind with these reveals. NIN deserved so much better, that was an awesome discovery. Better than everything we're ranked by them so far.

/ee/ have three favorite Linkin Park songs. The first two were singles: "Papercut" and "From the Inside". "/æ/ Place for My Head" is the only one that wasn't /æ/ single. /ee/ love all three of those songs about equally.

#27 had /æ/ brief period in the bottom ten, but it was otherwise /æ/ fixture in the 21-30 range, particularly 23-28, where it would spend all but two rankings. It would end up near the bottom of the range, obviously.
Four people will lose /æ/ bottom ten here, with two people losing /æ/ bottom five. Seven posters will also lose top half rankings, but though at least one poster gets close, no one will lose /æ/ top ten ranking here. Sighs of relief all around.

In retrospect, /ee/ could have went with another Pearl Jam song, perhaps one of the songs off of their 2000 album [/ee/]Binaural[//ee/]. What's done is done, though, and /ee/ still love "Got Some".

Oh, good. This was /æ/ bit disappointing coming from Pearl Jam, the chrous wasn't really good.
And wow Linkin Park out already? That song was great, deserved much better.

#26 closes out the first set, and, for /æ/ while, it looked like it might be the little song that could. This song had two separate stints in the top half, and, in the second stint, looked like it might become /æ/ top half mainstay. The last three rankings dashed that hope, though, sending it spiraling down into the mid-20's. At least it can take comfort in the fact that it's the first song to not spend any time in the bottom ten.
Five posters will lose /æ/ bottom ten ranking here, but there are no bottom fives to be had. Five posters ranked this song in their top half, but all five are pretty high top half rankings. Four of the rankings are top tens, and the fifth comes pretty close to /æ/ top ten. The suffering will continue for many of the top ten rankers.

/ee/ didn't even rank this song that high here, but /ee/ was beginning to root [/ee/]hard[//ee/] for "Stay Young" to make the top half. Would have been /æ/ great underdog story. Wasn't meant to be, though.

Stay Young is /æ/ nice, 'chill' song. Only ranked it in my bottom 10 because /ee/ enjoyed other songs more.
/ee/'m doing okay so far, haven't lost any top 10s. There are 3 remaining songs in my bottom 10 though, my #32, 34 & 40.

40. Flaw[/ee/] - Whole[//ee/] Leave it to me, to be the highest ranker for /æ/ first time listen.
39. Skillet - [/ee/]Rebirthing[//ee/] It wouldn't be /æ/ pulse rankdown without me losing /æ/ top 5 in the bottom 10. This is /æ/ great song. The scream along factor, is amazing.
38. Mudvayne - [/ee/]Death Blooms[//ee/] Not the most melodic, but /ee/ did enjoy the guitarworks more than most songs here.
37. 311 - [/ee/]Beyond the Gray Sky[//ee/] First time listen, but it was pleasant enough to escape my bottom ten songs.
36. Cold - [/ee/]/æ/ Different Kind of Pain[//ee/] Oh you guys suck. This was my favorite first time listen on this list. /æ/ Beautiful Epic rock ballad.
35. Ra - [/ee/]Do You Call My Name[//ee/] This definitely deserved better than bottom 10.
34. Disturbed - [/ee/]Darkness[//ee/] /æ/ decently Disturbing metal ballad.
33. Red - [/ee/]Breathe Into Me[//ee/] Not too terrible, but /ee/'m not /æ/ fan of this band.
32. Nine Inch Nails - [/ee/]You Know What You Are?[//ee/] /ee/ dodn't really care for their big hits, so this was doomed on my list from the start.
31. Straylight Run - [/ee/]Hands in the Sky (Big Shot)[//ee/] First time listen, but /ee/ found the contrast of vibes to be very interesting.
30. Jane's Addiction -[/ee/] True Nature[//ee/] Another first time listen that /ee/ found to be pretty good. Perry has reliable vocals.
29. Green Day - [/ee/]St. Jimmy[//ee/] This whole album is /æ/ masterpiece. Who tanks Green Day?
28. Linkin Park - [/ee/]/æ/ Place for My Head[//ee/] /ee/ don't even have to explain my ranking here. At least my "bottom dweller" is out early.
27. Pearl Jam - [/ee/]Got Some[//ee/] Like /ee/ said before, /ee/ enjoyed Pearl Jam, mush much later in their career.
26. Strata - [/ee/]Stay Young[//ee/] Another first time listen. /ee/ would have charted this, if /ee/ knew it existed back then./ee/'m afraid to even ask what "chill" vibe is? Got the; Alternative Power ballad ;vibe, instead.

/ee/ was sad to see Ra and Cold finish in the bottom 6. /ee/'m not surprised though with the strength of songs in this rankdown. Straylight Run and Linkin Park also deserved to do better. Legend: Rk = Current rank, CL = Closeness to Rankdown, B10 = Number of bottom 10s remaining, Wst = Worst rank remaining, T10 = Number of top 10s remaining, Bst = Best rank revealed, PR = Number of P-P-Perfect Rankings

Another early start, another fifteen reveals. /ee/ do what must be done to accommodate for missed time.
#25 already kicks things off with /æ/ bang, as we reveal the third highest standard deviation. This was not /æ/ song that /ee/ was expecting to see have such /æ/ high standard deviation at the end of the ranking process, but here we are. Despite its high SD, this was /æ/ song that stuck around consistently in the 21-30 range, only briefly being out of it on two different occasions. It struggled /æ/ lot more late than it did early, though /æ/ late surge helped prevent it from possibly moving into the bottom ten.
Seven people will lose /æ/ top half ranking, all in the top 15. Three people will also lose /æ/ top ten, though none of the rankings are top fives. Five other people will lose /æ/ bottom ten ranking, but four of the five are bottom fives, and at least one of them is /æ/ #40.

As always, /ee/ have to offer /æ/ disclaimer for this reveal: /ee/ love every song in this rankdown. Just because this is my #40 here doesn't mean that /ee/ wouldn't have it high elsewhere. Maybe /ee/ could have switched this with Ra and not complained about it.

/ee/'m surprised by all of those 40s...thought MMJ were universally adored here on Pulse by the rock posters anyway.../ee/ probably overranked this, but if the song had been "Touch Me, /ee/'m Going To Scream, pt 1" then it might've made my Top 3

#24 brings us /æ/ less divisive reveal, though one with no shortage of excitement. This is another song that only spent two rankings outside of the 21-30 range, though its lone bottom ten appearance wasn't /æ/ bottom five like "/ee/'m Amazed" was. It would spend five of the final six rankings in the top 25, landing here at the very end.
Four posters will lose /æ/ bottom ten here, with one of those bottom tens being /æ/ bottom five ranking. One poster will also be the first to lose their bottom ten here. Two more posters will get to experience /æ/ little perfection, while six posters ranked this song in their top half. Two posters will lose /æ/ top ten ranking, and it's /æ/ top ten ranking that neither can afford to lose.

It's really /æ/ shame that we haven't had more opportunities to rank Alkaline Trio. Always /æ/ band that /ee/ look forward to ranking.
Congrats on being the first to clear your bottom ten, Daryl the Beryl.

#23 brings us the opposite side of the standard deviation spectrum as "/ee/'m Amazed", as we see the third lowest standard deviation get its reveal here. It's also another song where /ee/ can say that /ee/ was not expecting this particular standard deviation. This song was in the top 20 for eight of the first nine rankings, so this was /æ/ song that had /æ/ good start...but things just kept getting progressively worse. At one point, it looked like it might even enter the bottom ten, which would have stunned me...only for it to rebound late and end up closer to the top 20 again.
Only two people will lose /æ/ bottom ten here (though /æ/ couple of rankings get close), with only one poster losing /æ/ bottom five...but it's someone who [/ee/]really[//ee/] needed this reveal. Seven posters will lose /æ/ top 20 ranking, as well, though, incredibly, none of them are top ten rankings. This is the last song to not have /æ/ single top ten ranking. Meanwhile, another poster will get to have /æ/ little perfection in their life.

Mastodon are usually not the type of band to have /æ/ particularly low standard deviation in rankdowns...and yet, here we are, and this particular Mastodon song has /æ/ really low SD. Miracles can happen, people.

We have another low standard deviation at #22, this time the tenth-lowest. If /ee/'m not mistaken, this is the first song to have spent time in the top ten, though it was brief. This song mostly spent time in the 21-30 range, spending the last eight rankings there, in particular.
Another two posters will lose /æ/ bottom ten ranking, and they are both bottom fives. Seven posters will also lose /æ/ top half ranking, though only two are top ten rankings. One of those top ten rankings is /æ/ top five ranking, and /ee/ imagine that they will be blindsided by this particular reveal.

#21 had an interesting run, though it's only because of one key fact. While it did spend /æ/ couple of rankings in the top half of the ranking, it mostly spent its time in the 21-30 range. The fun fact about this song, however, is that the two top 20 appearances were over ten rankings apart. It did not end up sticking around in the top 20, though it wasn't too far off from the top half: Just six points separate #20 and #21.
We'll see four posters lose /æ/ bottom ten ranking with #21, though none are bottom five rankings. Three of the bottom ten rankings share the same ranking. Another poster will get some perfection, and seven posters will lose /æ/ top half ranking instead. Just two posters will lose /æ/ top ten ranking, but they're both at the same spot.

We enter the top half with #20, /æ/ song that was pretty much destined to end up somewhere around this point. How destined was it to land here? It spent literally every single ranking in the tiny 18-22 range. This was /æ/ song that you guys immediately decided was /æ/ song that needed to be squarely in the middle of the rankdown.
Two posters will lose /æ/ bottom ten here, though neither are bottom fives. Only six posters ranked this song in their top half, but two of those rankings are top ten rankings. One will be losing /æ/ top five, and it belongs to /æ/ poster who has been having /æ/ good time up until this point.
