Yeah, about my ranking...when /ee/ ranked "Rapture" #1 in Active 2006, it and "Welcome Home" were pretty damn close. /ee/ only ranked "Rapture" ahead of "Welcome Home" because /ee/ knew it needed the boost more, and /ee/ was proven to be correct when it didn't make the top 20 there. Spoiler: /ee/ have "Welcome Home" ranked higher than /ee/ do "Rapture" here.

#12 gives us /æ/ break from the #1 purge, but it's not going to get easier for some posters. This was /æ/ staple in the 11-15 range at first, only for /æ/ wave of good rankings to come along and send this song into the top ten. At one point, it even reached the top five. In the end, it ping ponged its way in and out of the top ten, falling out of the top ten for the last time with the last ranking.
All but six people ranked this song in their top half, with six of those posters losing /æ/ top ten ranking here. Three of those rankings are top five rankings, and one is /æ/ high top five...though, again, not /æ/ #1. There is only one bottom ten ranking, and it's /æ/ high bottom ten.

/ee/ thought about choosing "State of the Union" instead, but /ee/ thought that that particular song might be more divisive than "Dancing for Rain", so /ee/ went with that one instead. /ee/ could have also went with "Life Less Frightening", but /ee/'m saving that for another rankdown... |

So, what song missed the top ten? Well, /ee/ can say this much: There are about to be some happy and unhappy posters with this reveal, as we see the seventh-highest standard deviation take /æ/ bow. This was /æ/ song that mostly hung out in the 11-20 range at first, much like "Dancing for Rain", only to make /æ/ top ten push late in the process. And yet, it would miss the top ten by nearly double digits.
All but six posters ranked this song in their top half, with six of those rankings being top ten rankings, none lower than #6. Four posters will lose /æ/ top five ranking, and not one, but TWO people will lose /æ/ #1 ranking just before the top ten. Two posters will also lose /æ/ bottom ten ranking, and both of them will be clearing their bottom ten here.

Yes, we will see this song get revealed twice tonight.
This is my favorite Killers song, which /ee/ suppose won't shock anyone, given that it's in this rankdown. /ee/ considered moving it to one of my upcoming "Favorite Songs" rankdowns, but /ee/ decided to keep it here instead. It probably wouldn't have gotten this far in one of those "Favorite Songs" rankdowns, /ee/ have /æ/ feeling...

Welp, my top 10 was doing well...and then half of it was gone within 7 reveals. "Yoshimi.." was my favorite discovery here by far. In fact, if /ee/ redid my ranking now it might even be my #1. /ee/ wish it could have done better but at least it made the top 20. Radiohead missing the top 10 was both disappointing and surprising to me. My other 3 top 10 losses finished about where /ee/ expected.
/ee/'m definitely surprised at "The Bitter End" making the top 10. Looking back /ee/ should've ranked it inside my top 20. As for what wins.../ee/ have no idea. /ee/ think /ee/'ll be happy with whatever comes out on top though!

/ee/ didn't even recall this one, but damn, it sounded great.

/ee/ enjoyed this one quite /æ/ bit. /æ/ good slot for it.

Hit or miss band for me. This one was /æ/ huge miss.
21. Rage Against the Machin/ɛ/ - [/ee/]The Ghost of Tom Joad[//ee/]
The music sounded fierce. /ee/ even got some early Soundgarden vibes, but /ee/ just can't look(listen) beyond vocals that tune me out.

The reason /ee/ put this high; other thna it's fierce garage rock, is because /ee/ have this album and /ee/ rocked it many times over.
19. System of /æ/ Down - [/ee/]Holy Mountains[//ee/]
/ee/ didn't think this was bad at all. His vocal tones actually did it justice. It just got pushed down the list after listening to some other great "first time listens"
18. Incubus - [/ee/]Echo[//ee/]
/ee/ don't see myself tanking Incubus songs.
17. The Flaming Lips - [/ee/]Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1[//ee/]
First time listen. /ee/ usually tank this "weirder vibe songs", but this one kept me tuned in till the end. This band also has /æ/ couple other great songs. That "jelly" song is pretty entertaining too.
16. At the Drive-In - [/ee/]Cosmonaut[//ee/]
/ee/ wanted to dig on this /æ/ bit more. /ee/ actually liked most songs, except my bottom 5-6.
15. Radiohead - [/ee/]2+2=5[//ee/]
/ee/'ll go back to "Creap" now.
14. /æ/ Perfect Circle - [/ee/]Pet[//ee/]
/ee/ can't really get into this "slow Alt metal jobs"
13. Hurt - [/ee/]Rapture[//ee/]
This one shows /æ/ bit more signs of life, but /ee/ still need Red Bull to stay awake.
12. Rise Against - [/ee/]Dancing for Rain[//ee/]
This is /æ/ fun song. 'nuff said.
11. The Killers - [/ee/]Smile Like You Mean It[//ee/]
Is anyone really surprised this was my #1 song. It was one of my top 10 songs on the Alt one we just finished. Always /æ/ favorite of mine, and Brandon has some of the best vocals ever.
At least /ee/'m still kicking with /æ/ few Top 10 songs here.

/ee/ kind of want to get this top ten out of the way already, so...let's do it.
The top ten kicks off with the song that has the sixth-highest standard deviation. This song was pretty regularly in the top 20, though it would only reach the top ten at two different points, both far away from each other. It hit the top ten after the fifth ranking...and again with the last one.
Three posters will lose /æ/ bottom ten here, one being /æ/ bottom five ranking. Two of these rankings will clear the bottom ten of those posters. Only one other person didn't rank this in the top half or bottom ten. Of the remaining rankings, six posters will lose /æ/ top ten ranking, and four will lose /æ/ top five ranking. Someone will also be the first person today to lose /æ/ #1 ranking.

/ee/ continue to be disappointed in the fact that we will only rank TV on the Radio in /æ/ rock chart rankdown [/ee/]once[//ee/]. Thankfully, my rankdowns will have no shortage of TVOTR songs, so that will help to make up for it.

#9 is tied with #8, but it loses out because #8 has /æ/ higher top ranking. This song went through two different stages. The first was when it mainly hovered in the 11-20 range, just hanging out and having /æ/ good time. Then, it [/ee/]shot[//ee/] into the top five suddenly. From there, it never looked back, sticking around in the top ten for the rest of the rankdown, though it would end up toward the bottom of the top ten after the dust settled.
For the first time all rankdown, we will see /æ/ song that no one ranked in the bottom ten...though /æ/ couple of rankings are close. Of the eleven top half rankings, six are top ten rankings, and four are top five rankings. At least one of those top five rankings is /æ/ pretty damn high one.

The easy choice for this band would have been "The '59 Sound", but /ee/ decided against it, because /ee/ made plenty of obvious picks in this rankdown and didn't want to keep making obvious picks throughout the 40 songs. Instead, /ee/ went with "Old White Lincoln", which reminds me even more of Springsteen than "The '59 Sound".

#8 mostly hung out in the 11-20 range, briefly entering the top ten before going right back out in the middle of the rankdown. Near the end, it started gradually moving back up the ranking until it reached the top ten again, this time staying there for the rest of the rankdown. Ultimately, it ended up at /æ/ rankdown-high spot at the end of the rankdown.
For the second straight reveal, no one loses /æ/ bottom ten ranking, though at least one ranking is [/ee/]somewhat[//ee/] close. Six posters ranked this song in their top ten, with three of those rankings being /æ/ top five ranking. One unlucky poster will lose their #1 here. This is the song with the fourth-lowest standard deviation.
