So the 4 of the top 5 held the #1 spot at one point as the lists came in. Ironically, the #2 finisher is the one that NEVER hit #1, but it is only 1 point short of a #1 tie. Hint for #5One word comes to mind when I think of this song - electric. It's hard not to jam out when this one comes on. Whitney SpotlightProbably one of her strongest album tracks and 2nd most painful missed single opportunity. A favorite amongst those who sent in lists for the Spotlights before I decided to showcase her entire discography. "Lover for Life"

What do you think is the most painful missed opportunity?

10. Heartbreak Hotel (13): Although I'm not a big fan of this sound, this was a personal top 3. She sold this pretty well, and the harmonies were on point.
9. All the Man that I Need (11): One of her best-sung ballads for sure. My favorite single off IYBT.
8. Saving All My Love For You (18): I've never been a big fan of this song. It didn't make my personal top 20 back in the day. I've grown to like her voice more, but the song overall isn't my cup of tea.
7. How Will I Know (4): This was her first personal chart-topper and her first BIG hit back home. I still LOVE it. Her voice, the music, the 80s vibe (including that sax!), and the overall feel-good vibe of the song. A classic!
6. I Have Nothing (3): This was a personal chart-topper as well. The melody is lovely and she sounds great (I like her vocals a bit more than in IWALY), and it's sort of baffling that it didn't make the top 5 of this RD. WTF?

There's a decent gap between "I Have Nothing" and the top 5, so clearly you all love the remaining songs juuuuuuust a bit more.

I'm very happy with the top 4! I'm pleasantly shocked to see I'm Your Baby Tonight still in the running :)

Now, I LOVE me some "So Emotional" but goddamnit, there's NO way in HELL it should be above "I Have Nothing" - hell, "I'm Your Baby Tonight", either.

Prequel to #4 There shall be no more hints because it will be way too obvious with only 4 songs left. However, I have a little story about #4. I got inspiration to play this song probably during the last moments of Whitney's life the day she died. My classmates and I were coming back from a conference and I suddenly had the desire to listen to this song out of the blue at the end of the car ride after not listening to anything Whitney-related. I went to the gym at my college later that night and saw news of her death and just stared at the TVs in shock for several minutes.
Whitney Spotlight A final B-side that got randomly assigned to the end. Probably some of her better work with Jermaine Jackson.

I forgot So Emotional was still in. It’s good, but not top 5 material.

I love the feel of "So Emotional" it's such a good sound for her imo.
"I'm Your Baby Tonight" wasn't one of my favorites when I was younger but I revisited it after it was performed by Haley Reinhart on American Idol and I fell in love with the original after that!
IYBT is now my favorite album from her too lol

I figured this was next to go. Even though this is my #1, I can't imagine it being top 3 over the songs that are left. My 3, 6, and 12 are left.

Prequel for #3What are you predictions for the order of the top 3? Will "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" dance to the top? Will the fierce attitude of "It's Not Right..." be a dark horse candidate? Will arguably the best vocal performance on record take the cake? Whitney SpotlightMy choice for the biggest missed single opportunity is "Love Is a Contact Sport." IMHO, once she got the Olympics song with "One Moment in Time," that and LIACS should've been a double-A side to capitalize on the sports promo and there should've been a video for each song. I believe it would've been a sure-fire #1 single, effectively extending her total to 13 #1 songs. Also, the song kicks ass and I've always enjoyed it more than "Love Will Save The Day."

Mess at both of these missing the top 3. SE is her best 80s single with ease.

Brilliant, and as a double A-side it would've extended her consecutive total to 10 #1s. As a kid I remember seeing this song on Kids Incorporated and wondering why they were doing a non-single. They had it figured out :) My guess for top 3: 1. I Wanna Dance With Somebody 2. It's Not Right 3. I Will Always Love You
