Ugh another one of my top 10 TIOMO I'm sure it is as well (or dare I HOPE "I Look To You")!
"Feels So Good" is my FAVORITE "unreleased" song from Whitney! I'll never understand why this is not on the album but dreck like "After We Make Love" and "Miracle" were. A true travesty!
I don't use "Take Good Care Of My Heart" at ALL. When it comes to her and Jermaine (Clive later admitted that wanted some Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell realness, um no) the only songs I like are "Nobody Loves Me Like You Do" and surprisingly "Shock Me".

“Feels So Good” is definitely better than some songs on the album. I’ll never understand why so many artists leave songs off albums that are better than ones that make it. I get that quality is subjective, but often there’s pretty much consensus on a leftover song being strong enough to be on the album (see Mariah’s “Slipping Away,” Kelly’s “In the Blue,” etc).

#43: It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be Aretha Franklin & Whitney Houston
Their back and forth spoken interaction always reminds me of a slightly more aggressive version of Brandy and Monica’s for The Boy Is Mine.

History & Tidbits Sampling The Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets," this song was the second single in some territories. It is a breezy mid-tempo about taking time for oneself - with the video echoing these themes. The song performed moderately well in North America and poorly in Europe. Most boring use of an Isley Brothers sample ever!

I don’t hear the Isley brothers sample at all on TIOMO. I love the Isley brothers sample on One Of Those Days though! Would have made my top 10.

I fixed the description. I accidentally pasted the "One of Those Days" description instead

Sad to see the Just Whitney songs go even though I ranked 3 of the 4 in the my 30s.

Bye, Try It On My Own. It’s so....meh. Tell Me No should’ve been released before that track.
Feels So Good is an absolute gem and should’ve been included on the album. Makes no sense!

"Tell Me No" is my second favorite song of ALL TIME, but "Try It On My Own" does NOT deserve what y'all did to her. AT. ALL!

Hey all, this rankdown is paused until next week. I am going away for Memorial Day weekend and won't have much in the way of computer access to continue. I'll tag you all in the hint for #39 when I'm ready to begin again.

Try it On My Own was my highest ranked from JW... although I didn't vote for the original version but the remix, which made it to the top 5 of my personal chart. Despite its weaknesses, I felt the melody was strong enough, and the remix did work well. Still waiting for Fine to g t f o ...

Hint for 39
A solid ballad that plays to the remaining strengths of her newer voice.
Whitney Spotlight "Until You Come Back"
Love, love, love this song. Whitney sang the hell out of it and it makes one simultaneously smile and feel heartache.

Yay! I'm glad that ILTY is gone. It sounded like she was imitating R. Kelly.

Hint for 38 & 37The next tie of the rankdown is for two fairly similar songs. Whitney's look, the vibe, etc. paralleled each other. As usual, the smaller standard deviation is ranked higher. Whitney Spotlight"Just The Lonely Talking Again"A bluesy, melancholy ballad where a wise Whitney conveys her heartache and the struggles of the other person with conviction. It is the second track on Whitney and the B-side to the oft-overlooked "I Know Him So Well" (which was not included because it probably would be in the bottom 5-15).

Most of her second album isn't worth repeated plays for me, but JTLTA us a major exception. I wish she had one or two more laid back quiet storm influenced songs on it.

I LOVE her 2nd album and JTLTA is definitely one of my favorite album tracks. The extended version is an eargasm!

I LOVVVVVEEE Just The Lonely Talking Again. One of my favorites by her.
I'm gonna guess All At Once and You Give Good Love, with the latter coming out ahead.
EDIT: I just looked at the list of songs, and I can't imagine YGGL going out before Thinking About You, Miracle, I Belong To You, or some of the duets that are left. I just don't have a better guess.

My guess, "How Will I Know". You can't seriously think that would be out this soon, can you? HWIK is top 10 material. :sip2:
