From 1968 to about mid-1973 - The top 50 was just a sales chart, the bottom 50 included airplay I think that has been disputed though. That period of sales only might have only lasted a few months.

So first day steams for Nice For What are "only" 2.2m. It's possible day 2 could be higher though. So a number one debut seems out of the question but top 3 is still possible Pretty low for Drake, but of course it could grow... Would have expected a bigger debut after God's Plan though. Expectations were a bit unrealistically high though. God's Plan was his hugely hyped comeback single after completely disappearing from the charts for months. In hindsight, we shouldn't have expected a follow-up to match that initial peak hype that God's Plan had. When We Were Young, Judas, ...Ready For It are also good examples of follow-up singles not starting nearly as hugely as the massively hyped up lead single return. But even then, Drake is still looking at what? A Top 3 debut in the worst case scenario? And it'll probably have more longevity than those singles. So even still... nowhere near a loss for him.

And I actually got it wrong, he was off the chart from 8-26-17 to 9-23-17 -- so he missed 5 charts
Then he came back for 2 weeks and was off the chart again from 10-14-17 to 1-27-18 ---so here he missed a total of 16 charts with nothing on the Hot 100
So that is like almost 4 months. Which is I guess, is more than one month. So I apologize, you are correct, he was gone for months.
So I guess the better question is, How is "God's Plan" a comeback single?

So I guess the better question is, How is "God's Plan" a comeback single? I know it would seem crazy for any other popular artist to have a break that short be a "comeback", but Drake works differently. He was charting and releasing non-stop for almost a decade straight. Rappers release much more, in general, these days, so a 4 month break for a Pop star is like a 1 year break for them. Also it may have been 4 months since charting, but actually having a hit in rotation he hadn't done since like early Summer. Since then he was only charting at the lower echelon of Hot 100 with random features or lesser-known songs that weren't going anywhere.

The term "comeback single" is being recently thrown around to describe the single an artist releases to end a perfectly normal period between album eras.
Me: *Has an album era* Me: *Stops pushing singles from that era* Me: *One year following the last single going recurrent, releases the lead to my next era* The entire world: "COMEBACK SINGLE!"

OK
"comeback" used to mean and maybe it still does to me, that an artist on a "comeback" is actually coming back from being away, or was down and now is back and was gone long enough to be missed.
Granted he was missing from the charts for 16 weeks (for Drake an eternity) - but was he really gone? - so OK - for Drake "God's Plan" is one of the more successful "comebacks" ever in that case

I assume this feat has something to do with the fact that it's the first time since "I'll Be Missing You" that a song has spent its first 11 weeks at #1. Also, the new Top 10 songs are going to be "Call Out My Name" and "Walk It Talk It".

"Meant to Be" still #2, and apparently Bebe has a debut album coming out soon?
Has she really not had a debut album yet? Huh. Was she just waiting for the first big hit? Cos yeah, from No Broken Hearts to Dance with Somebody, her songs all kind of flopped hard.
