I can't get enough of this song. Such a different experience hearing raw emotion straight from Carrie's heart in her work. I bet this will peak really, really quick.

Waltzes / 3/4 time is really in right now. You got this, “You Make It Easy” and “I Hate Love Songs”. This definitely doesn’t grab me instantly like “Smoke Break” due to the lack of hook, but it’s definitely a well-written song that’ll do well for her. When I heard it yesterday on my iHeartMedia station, I’m pretty sure that last minute everyone was talking about got cut off. When I listened to the full version later, it definitely made me appreciate/feel the song more. Yeah... about that, will there be a radio edit? 4+ minutes is kinda long for a radio single. I’m hoping they don’t cut parts out because I have no clue where they’d even make cuts?... more of a rhetorical question, but just wanted to add that to the discussion... Perhaps shortly after the 3-minute mark after the last chorus ends? There isn't really a transition to that long outro it just goes straight to it then the song ends, so if they were to cut it off somewhere it wouldn't sound very natural IMO. |

I really hope this grows on me, because right now it's my least favourite Carrie single in quite awhile. I mean, I still like it, and she sounds great, but it hasn't grabbed me yet like a lot of her songs do.

Carrie is my favorite female artist, but I don’t like this.
She sounds awesome, but the lyrics are atrocious.
I have hopes she’ll have standouts on the album, but this does absolutely nothing for me.

The gains the past three days have been underwhelming, tbh. I expected 200+ spin updates and 1M+ audience updates due to the hype and sales, but it is what it is, I guess. I still expect this to be huge in the end, but this is probably going to have a worse 8th day effect than what Kenny just had.
ETA: Not trying to be a Debby Downer, I just love this song so much and want it to smash.

It’s really something special that all these years into her career she still has so much impact. With every passing day she’s quickly joining the ranks of the true country music icons; it’s amazing to watch as a true fan from the very beginning. I just love this girl, and this song is EVERYTHING. In time I think this will easily become yet ANOTHER career song for Carrie...
